Big Hero 6 Movie Description:
Robotics prodigy Hiro (Ryan Potter) lives in the city of San Fransokyo. Next to his older brother, Tadashi, Hiro's closest companion is Baymax (Scott Adsit), a robot whose sole purpose is to take care of people. When a devastating turn of events throws Hiro into the middle of a dangerous plot, he transforms Baymax and his other friends, Go Go Tamago (Jamie Chung), Wasabi (Damon Wayans Jr.), Honey Lemon (Genesis Rodriguez) and Fred (T.J. Miller) into a band of high-tech heroes.
Big Hero 6 is a 2014 American animated superhero film produced by Walt Disney Animation Studios and released by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures, which is loosely based on the Marvel Comics superhero team of the same name created by Man of Action. It was directed by Don Hall and Chris Williams from a screenplay by Jordan Roberts, Robert L. Baird, and Daniel Gerson, and produced by Roy Conli. The film stars the voices of Ryan Potter, Scott Adsit, Daniel Henney, T.J. Miller, Jamie Chung, Damon Wayans Jr., Genesis Rodriguez, James Cromwell, Maya Rudolph, and Alan Tudyk. Big Hero 6 tells the story of Hiro Hamada, a young robotics prodigy, and Baymax, his late brother Tadashi's healthcare-provider robot. They form a superhero team to combat a masked villain responsible for Tadashi's death.
Big Hero 6 is the first Disney animated film to feature Marvel Comics characters, whose parent company was acquired by the Walt Disney Company in 2009. Walt Disney Animation Studios created new software technology to produce the film's animated visuals.
Big Hero 6 debuted at the 27th Tokyo International Film Festival on October 23, 2014, and was released in the United States on November 7. The film received positive reviews from critics, who praised it for its animation, action sequences, pacing, entertainment value, heart, and emotional weight. It grossed over $657.8 million worldwide and became the highest-grossing animated film of 2014. Big Hero 6 received several awards and nominations: it received seven nominations for Annie Awards and won one, and also received a Golden Globe. At the 87th Academy Awards, the film won Best Animated Feature.
A television series, which continues the story of the film, aired from 2017 to 2021 on Disney Channel and Disney XD. A two-season short series, Baymax Dreams, premiered in 2018. Another series, Baymax!, premiered on Disney+ on June 29, 2022.

So excited for this one but I'm gonna keep trying tell you watch it. Meet the Robinsons. Love your reactions!
You need to watch the Big Hero 6 cartoon that came out a few years after this movie was made.
Mell How U Not Go React To Miller's Girl Trailer With Jenna Ortega ?
Please react to "Scrooge: A Christmas Carol (2022)"! That is a perfect christmas movie. And the songs are beautiful! 😊❤🎁🎄
You missed the after credit scene.
It took me years to realise Baymax makes the "balalalala" noise because we as humans make the explosion sound by blowing air out of pursed lips but he doesn't have a mouth or lips so he can't do that. So it's not that he doesn't understand the sound, he just improvised and that KILLS ME MORE 😭😭😭
Tbf if he is able to speak he should be able to make a blowing noise, since speaking is literally just blowing out air. And if he using a speaker with AI voice to speak, it should still be able to have that sound in its library of human sounds
@@dracodaym715 not necessarily cause an explosion sound is a very specific sound that doesn't come through in normal speech. He was made to be a nurse. Why would he be programmed with such a sound in his library.
Unfortunately this movie was overshadowed by frozen but it was a great movie. While many Disney movies deal with loss in a way this movie kinda portrays the 5 stages of grief and you can feel the emotion along the way
How was it foreshadowed by frozen?
Didn’t they come out a whole year apart? Nov 2013 & Nov 2014?
@@bonnstersfmover* and it’s frozen bro it’s one of the most popular movies of all time
I think the brotherly bond made this a great follow-up to "Frozen."
@@bonnstersfm "overshadowed", meaning it got swept under the rug bc frozen was more popular
Honestly, if I could make anything, I would make Baymax. Not the superhero version that Hiro developed him into, but the original version, the healer. Having robot nurses would do SO much good in the world, relieve so many staffing shortages, heck, donate one each to remote villages with a solar powered station for charging to get medical care to people who normally don't have access to it, or at least not regularly. If the local Baymax isn't able to help someone, he could still notify the closest hospital to get moving so that the patient could get help.
Just... Imagine how much good they could do.
Reason there are nursing shortages in hopsitals isn't that there's a llw supply of nurses it's that hospitals don't wanna pay for more nurses. They'd rather have 1 nurse take care of 10 patients at a time than have 1 nurse for each patient. It's really messed up how the situation is for nurses and the patients that need them.
@@theprotagonist1311exactly. The respect towards nurses is not high enough. Financial issues is one thing, but im certain their mental and physical health are getting damaged with hospitals not caring for them.
That's what Tadashi had in mind by creating it
People are the ones who program robots though, and not all of them are as wide eyed and kind hearted as tadashi. I could see a lot of gross things happening still and people being denied care -- but now there will be more ready excuses. "it wasn't medical malpractice, it was a malfunction with the machine".
@@prettyrat. Oh there are plenty of movies, tv shows, and books (scifi and nonfiction versions) out there showing how true that is. Heck, look at the Big Bang Theory with Howard and the robot hand and how he used it for pleasure. Look at X-Men with the Sentinels-originally meant to do one thing, got out of hand and then a vast majority of humanity gets it. People really need that Jurassic Park quote- Think if you should do something not if you can do it (somewhere along that line)- because too many people jump at creating something without looking ahead.
Not crying at this moving! I feel like you’ve watched this before 😭 but glad you like it. They could easily make a 2nd with the brother coming back.
What Makes You Say That?
The theme of grief was handled very well, but the other very best thing about the film is definitely Baymax. If I remember correctly, there was a touch lamp of Baymax that gave off a soft light pulse to encourage sleep, and I think that's kind of perfect for the character.
If I had to pick between this and Incredibles, I'd say this just because I like the more futuristic aspect of it.
That's dope. I'd have to pick Incredibles because I love the 60s vibes and the espionage film aesthetic of it, especially with the music. I love this movie a LOT too tho.
Fun fact: Hiro's suit does not have any power
But his suit is still my most favorite, its design is just so cool!!!
Hot Take: I think ALL of the Twist Villains in this era of the Disney Animated Canon are absolutely fine villains in their own right, and the only problem was that they all came out in a row with no classic-style Disney Villain inbetween so people got sick of them faster.
Isn't "Wish" the first Disney movie in awhile to have just a classic villain with no sad backstory or twist?
@@oncerand_directioner I haven't seen it yet so I don't know who or what's in it (please no spoilers!), but leaving it aside the last *main* antagonist we got that was in that classic mold was Mother Gothal in Tangled in 2010.
* Winnie the Pooh (2011) had no real antagonist.
* Wreck-It Ralph, Frozen, Big Hero 6, and Zootopia had the Twist Villains, who were all certainly villainous (only Callaghan is at all sympathetic) but their true villainy was not made explicit until the final act.
* Tomatoa in Moana fit the archetype, but he was more of a side obstacle setpeice like Madam Mim in Sword in the Stone. The "main antagonist" is essentially just a baleful polymorph force of nature.
* Ralph Breaks the Internet had no antagonist other than Ralph's feelings.
* The closest thing Frozen II has to a villain died decades prior to the events of the film and the plot is more about fixing that mess from the past.
* Raya and the Last Dragon's main antagonist is clearly brainwashed by her society and pulls a heel-face-turn to save the day.
* Encanto's main antagonist is Generational Trauma. Likewise for Strange World, though that one has an ally become an obstacle to raise the third act stakes but not out of malice.
Now I actually like all of these movies (except for Internet for various reasons) and I don't actually think any film in the Disney Animated Canon is flat-out "bad" (except for possibly 2005's Chicken Little), but having grown up in the 90s Disney Renaissance which had a lot of the peak Disney Villains, I do miss the archetype and wish it would go back to being more standard with occasional breaks.
I really enjoyed the animated series, too. The upgraded suits in it look so cool. GoGo is definitely my favorite character; shes so badass
A nice detail is when Baymax says to Hero "I will always be with you" was programmed in him when Baymax collected data on 'personal loss' from their computer
I never clicked so fast!!! Baymax is my freaking spirit animal lol. Obsessed with him❤. Great movie
This is still my favorite Disney animated film of all time. I love that despite being for kids it didn't perfectly resolve the tragedy of Tadashi's death at the end (i.e. he died as collateral damage, not for some super special secret purpose, and Callaghan got his daughter back when Hiro will never get his brother back). Most kids expect a perfectly happy and balanced conclusion to stories, but this movie didn't do that. It was instead honest about the unfairness of tragedy but sent a message that you can still heal in spite of that. None of us ever get perfect closure for the pain and loss we experience in life, but it doesn't mean we can't find hope somehow. That to me is a more valuable message than one that sugarcoats the messy aspects of life and says that everything will always be "fixed" in the end. Oftentimes there is no perfect fix, it's more helpful to know that you can persevere even when the fixes don't exist
This movie is seriously gorgeous. I remember being practically awestruck when I saw it theaters with my then gf and her little cousin.
When I saw Brother bear I got BH6 Flashbacks. 8:34😢 NGL I lost my father 3 years back. I can’t even imagine losing my siblings, I have 3 younger biological and 1 half older brother.
Callahan invented the servos that Hiro used in his battle bot, but they didn't have anything to do with Hiro's microbots. Although, I'll give you that Callahan would still be more likely than Krei to be able to reverse engineer and mass produce the microbots without any blueprints.
By the way, you missed the end credit scene with the obligatory Stan Lee cameo, since this is technically a Marvel property (which means maybe Spider-man does exist in their universe).
The end credit scene was dope, too!
James Cromwell was actor for Callaghan, among his former roles was the rancher from Babe.
Man you almost tripped me up with that Incredibles vs this movie question. I'd go with this though and while 'The Incredibles' is so nostalgia heavy to me and still a great film it just doesn't have the emotional beats that this movie has on top of the action. Now the powers and action in this don't come close but all around Big Hero 6 is a great film it definitely had me tearing up when I first watched it in theaters.
Do you know they continued this storyline with a TV show i’m not saying you have to watch it I’m just telling you you can probably watch on your own time if you want
And the stuff in Kingdom Hearts 3 is confirmed to be cannon.
i wished this movie got a sequel
Well, it kind of does have one in the form of a 3-season cartoon series, "Big Hero 6: The Series." It's pretty good.
@@Compucles I've only watched the Baymax Disney+ Mini-Series
I hold this movie in the same regards as frozen. Frozen is a great example of someone living with anxiety and coming to terms with it. This movie shows depression and coming to terms with sorrow/loss.
Big hero 6 Percy Jackson the lighting theif and real steel are absolute bangers more people need to get on these
I loved the hell out of this movie when it came out
James Cromwell is Callahan
Please, watch Soul!!!!! It's a beaautiful animation!!!!! Crying guaranteed!!!
There was a post credit scene (with a cameo) it is a Disney superhero movie afterall.
The guy you're talking about is james Cromwell
So that wasn’t an explosion it was a backdraft 8:36 oxygen entered the school at high speeds when everybody opened the doors to run out and it took a minute to all reach the source of the fire
If Bamax did do what you said it would just flip them around
Also there is a tv series of this movie
Big hero 6 has a series after this movie. You should check it out, it is fantastic
I'd create a drone thats ultra lightweight with very powerful props, then try and find a way to use the kinetic energy or wind power provided by the turbines to increase the power in a normal drone tenfold without the need for new battery tech, easy money
That's a good question!!!! I'd still say The Incredibles because that soundtrack is naaaasty. And it doesn't make me cry as much 😂
heyy this reaction was fire love you mell.
This movie is actually based on a marvel comic by the same name. Of course the original comics are very different from the movie.
My personal fav modern Disney film. I really wish they can make an official sequel.
Just watch the official animated series instead. It's pretty good.
@@Compucles oh I have and it’s pretty good. It’s the closest thing we have to a sequel lol
Hey Mel!
Love the channel, would love to see your reaction to the Shadow and Bone series, and whether or not you think Netflix should have cancelled it. Keep up the great work!
I liked the video b4 watching. I've been waiting for this
You should watch the spinoff show it’s so good
You missed an end credits sequence!
Fun fact, this is based on a Marvel comic
hey MellVerse there are more thing of big hero 6 . big hero 6 the series and Baymax
Hey did ya get to watch the moment after the movie of Fred at home ?
He forgot to see after credit scene
Obviously, Baymax should’ve just put his back against the ship and fired his rocket hand in the opposite direction of the portal.
The guy from taken
Please do Lilo and stitch if you haven’t seen it!
You didn’t see the mid credits scene!!!
After credits

Hey. Can you do the animated movie of the lion king
I was here for the after credits screen which of course you skipped. Bad business
Take a chill pill 😂
I’d pick this over the incredibles, any time, any day. Sorry not sorry, fight me 😂
Please watch SOUL!
Please watch incredulous 2
Watch Tarzan
Nook of life is way better then coco imo
I find the fact that he didn't want to delife Callaghan anymore very unrealistic, but hey it's a Disney movie what do you expect. They'll delife parents/parental figures, but they don't usually let main characters unalive those that deserve it.
Is this some kind of mockery of the "Never Say Die" trope, or is your grammar really that bad?
Who doesn’t love Baymax? I feel like it’s impossible to hate him. This movie is basically a Marvel film as it is based on a Marvel comic. It’s not only a great action film, but it also has some pretty emotional moments. Like Hiro losing his brother and then losing Baymax. I predicted these things would happen, but the way the scenes are executed is what makes them impactful.
You forgot to mention Stan Lee 😂
I love him!!! Wish I had one to help with my medical issues lol :D
@@LapseBlueRRyou mean Stan Lee😊😊😊😊
@@pricemoore2022 yeah man mb i was high when i typed that, still am tbh i just finished my 5th cup of coffee this hour
Mais la c'est Disney
in recent years i think Aunt Cass has become more popular than the film itself 😭
MOMMY
Helen Parr ain’t got nothing on Cass.
Mell's argument on getting baymax out of the portal is almost the same as door argument in Titanic.😅
Honestly it made sense to me, I think it could have worked.
@@UhKimboze I mean the door argument for titanic literally doesn't make any sense tho. I remember hearing about it for years and years before I saw the movie for the first time when I was like 18. And I was so confused why people even bothered to make that argument cause not only does basic physics explain why that wouldn't work but the movie itself shows the idea failing with the door flipping when both Jack and Rose tried to climb on.
Except the door would've lost bouyancy. If there's no gravity in that realm, air escaping right would shoot him left.
@@LangkeeLongkee if you put the life jackets under the door it could have worked.
@@Mr.Potato420 first of all, if you could secure them at all that's a maybe but yanno they only had one and it was kinda being used at the time to not drown.
This movie is honestly one of the BEST movies I’ve had the privilege to watch! The commentary only makes it better, as Mell’s does usually ❤
5:27 if im not mistaken, Big Hero 6 is actually based off a marvel comic XD, so Spiderman is in fact in this uni.
I really do like Hero’s aunt…. I feel like she’s what I’d be like when/if I’d like to parent lol
I can honestly say, the ending was a huge surprise for me, with them going into the portal and saving Abigail. Totally did not see that coming and the whole sequence, from Baymax staring at the portal to Hiro flying out of it right before it closes, is brilliantly done.
I named my son Tadashi when I was pregnant since I'm half Japanese I wanted to give my child a name that different and I fell in love with the named Tadashi
love your reaction videos
So cute but sad at the same time❤😢
The microbots are actually a version of Programmable Matter (a real science term thats been around since 1991) . Robotics-based approaches include Self-reconfiguring modular robotics, claytronics, Cellular automata, Quantum wells, and Synthetic biology.
The three main components (and limits) being hardware, software, and energy source. The energy source is the main problem why we can't make real life Transformers (Energon in TF contains the equivalent energy of 1000 barrels of oil per cube)
Don't forget the scary-as-hell version of programmable matter......grey goo
@@okumabear Technically, Grey Goo is a doomsday scenario not a planned creation. Self-replicating (nano) robots that consume everything until all that remains is an ocean of machines. Again, the chances of Grey Goo are reduced because the energy requirements. Disney's Gargoyles had a fantastic season 2 episode Walkabout. It needed time to absorb enough energy before it could take on Australia.
Prof. Callaghan voice actor is James Cromwell. Same guy who did Babe and I Robot. His voice is etched into my memory forever.
I-Robot also starred Alan Tudyk as Cromwell's Robot, Sonny, who played Alister Krei here.
Right?! That tiny plot hole always bothered me. It always bugged me when Baymax gave Hiro his data chip, when Tadashi’s chip was taken out shouldn’t Baymax have gone into that red-eyed rage mode? If he took both out wouldn’t he stop working? Only thing in this movie that doesn’t really make sense to me
I think hiro fixed this issue with a little bit of programming in the background of the movie but it wasn't shown on screen and that's why Baymax didn't turn red
@@king_mega1670 than how do you know that?
@@ProdigousKal.El. It's my hypothesis but it's the only way it makes sense
I figured when his friends showed up from the island they took to red chip out then
It's perfectly possible that Baymax could have internally duplicated the files and transferred a copy to the red chip. Baymax could've wiped the space on the red chip, I bet. He can choose not to let anyone open his access port, he clearly has some control.
Everyone needs a Baymax in their lives. He's so poofy and adorable. Also Gogo is my favorite female character.
Also 13:47 😂😂😂
What about the in credits? Stanley is in the movie. The father of fire dragon.
I love this movie. And really love the after credit scene as well lol. It’s just a great movie all the way around.
I do too I wish he reacted to it
You need to watch the Big Hero 6 cartoon that came out a few years after this movie was made.
THERE'S A CARTOON?!
@@Epodmusic17: Yes there was. It takes place after the events of the movie where the group continues to fight crime in the city. Most of the original voice actors return for it & while it didn't last long it was a decent continuation of the story.
@@jessetorres8738 It lasted 3 seasons. That's a decent length for a cartoon series, especially one made by Disney.

Baymax Was My Childhood
You figured out who the villain was pretty early on! Congrats to you! Most who I’ve watched this with, thought it was Cray.

25:17 Cough "Kingdom Hearts 3"😂😂😂 Hiro makes sure he took the red chip out, and what's crazy is that he has 2 Baymaxes by the end which is cool.
After you said Callahan's voice was famiar I started thinking it was too, when I looked up who it was I immediately recognized him as the scientists to ask Sonny to kill him from I, Robot. Funny though since Krei was voiced by Alan Tudyk who also voiced Sonny
"Yeah! The firefighters, not you!"
I love this movie so much. I think my one complaint is, maybe we could not glorify running back into burning buildings if you don’t have the training or equipment...? Just a thought...
"That sounds like an anime name." Couldn't that be said for all Japanese names?
Tadashi and hiro brother relationship was loosely based off the brothers from the movie “stand by me” good watch you should check it out
