Ah so lovely to hear form a fellow South African living on the other side of the world! Glad to hear you can at least grow Boerpampoen! It's tough growing in hot dry conditions...sounds a bit like Oudshoorn 😀. If you could build a shade house from 30% shade net that might just allow you some more veggie growing options 🤔

Thank you so much for watching my videos and I'm so pleased that you find them useful! At the moment I have a lot of sweet potatoes maturing. Waiting for the temperatures to cool down so that I can start planting for autumn.

I'm growing zucchinis and I have this issue with melon flies laying their eggs into the flower and before the female flowers can even bloom the flower falls off (I know it's the larvae because i open them up and there are all these larvae inside feasting on the inside!) . I wonder if it would protect the flowers if i cover the petals and fruit with foil . i am going to try this tomorrow. Thankful I found your video!!

You'd have to hand pollinate the flowers then. I reckon you may as well go straight with placing bag over the unopened flower 🌼 then hand pollinate once the flower has opened.

@@sherwoodurbanfarmsouthafri8709 great suggestion. Will go get some netted fruit bags today. Even the male flowers are not safe!
