Frank rajak a movie producer who is a Nigerian was responsible for the explosion of the Ghanaian movie industry from early 2006. Van Vickers etc.. were all discovered by him. Majority of those popular movies like Beyonce were Nigerian production shot in Ghana. Ghanaian actor and actresses decided to band together and force Nigerian directors and producers to pay heavy fees to produce in Ghana. Nigerians decided to go back to Nigeria to film and that's the whole story

Funny thing is that there are recent news that Nollywood is establishing a Ghana chapter and even got some local investors like Zylofon inboard. Ironic because most of the Ghanaian actors that forced them out back then are now out of work since Ghana movie industry die off years ago, their plan backfired

Ghana movie industry is like their music industry, local champions. I am just waiting for the part of this conversation where they blame Nigerians. They never look at their short comings. Give up music and movies is the solution to your problem. Nigerians can do it better.

The reason for the "death" of the Ghanaian movie industry is the $10,000 fee imposed on Nigerian movie producers/directors whenever they want to shoot a movie in Ghana.
The Nigerians were bitterly disappointed and felt singularly targetted so they moved out! They now request that Ghanaian actors come to Nigeria to shoot if they are interested in movie parts.
