    I think you should first prefer hand calcs before jumping on to use software to analyse buckling of plate. Please remember with softwares, GI GO (Garbage in garbage out).

    Rivets for wing root joint?? I think one should understand loads acting at the root joint and what the joining elements are capable of.

    It does matter where you apply the load to calculate strain. Your answer is correct when axial load is applied not for beam.

      True, beam horizontal member, loaded vertically. 2x Longer beam with same section and load should have much more (~ 4x) deflection as x long beam.
