1893 Chicago Worlds Fair with Green Screen Effects (Read Description)

  • This video was shot in 2014 at a very nice World's Fair exhibit that ran at Chicago's Field Museum of Natural History. Part of the exhibit included the use of computers and green screens to transform old photographs of the 1893 Columbian Exposition into "moving images" (there is no real film of the World's Fair, as the technology was in its infancy).
    Somewhere around 2018, most comments on this light-hearted video were taken over by a very specific set of conspiracy devotees who are all very confident that the buildings of the "White City" existed for centuries before the World's Fair, built by an ancient civilization that has since been wiped from the historical record by the deep state and such. This is admittedly hard to disprove! On one hand, Chicago was an industrial hub with a population over 1 million in 1890, and one would presume somebody would have noticed (and photographed, drawn, written about) ancient classical architecture already sitting there in Jackson Park before the 1893 Fair. But this can be ignored. We can also ignore the various published blueprints and construction photos of the buildings, most of which were bare-bones exhibit spaces with exteriors quickly built from a material called staff, a cheap moldable plaster that could be made to look like marble (the same stuff had been used at the earlier Worlds Fairs in Paris). This MIGHT have explained why so many of the structures later burned down, and could have also explained why the Palace of Fine Arts, which was built to be a permanent museum of artifacts from the Fair, did NOT burn down, and is still in use today as the Museum of Science and Industry. We could even consider how Chicago built another big lot of temporary buildings for the 1933-34 Worlds Fair, but that they looked modern rather than "ancient," so it's not suspicious. But I reckon these explanations aren't very helpful either.
    Millions of people visited the Columbian Exposition, and there are lasting artifacts galore: books published at the time, diary accounts, photos, original tickets to the event, endless newspaper accounts from mainstream and smalltime journalists from every corner of the political and social spectrum. These things, too, don't prove much. For we are all part of the Great Delusion.
    "Conspiracy theories have attributes that set them apart from other types of causal explanation. Albeit to varying degrees, they are speculative in that they posit actions that are hidden from public
    scrutiny, complex in that they postulate the coordination of multiple actors, and resistant to falsification in that they postulate that conspirators use stealth and disinformation to cover up their actions-implying that people who try to debunk conspiracy theories may, themselves,
    be part of the conspiracy." --Study on The Psychology of Conspiracy Theories, University of Kent (ironically, a study easy to dismiss, since all institutions of higher learning are "part of it")

    Wow - a lot of conspiracy theory experts here - this was a real thing! It took them a short time to build. Most buildings were poorly constructed since they were temporary structures. After the fair was over, there was a fire sometime after that burnt most of the buildings to the ground. The plan was always to return Jackson Park to an outdoorsy area. A lot of inventions and household names we still know today came out of this fair - Wrigley chewing gum, for example, made its debut. The Ferris Wheel was introduced. This was a huge event. There are plenty of pictures that have a ton of people visiting the fair.

I'm not trusting just the empirical evidence around me, but that collected and researched by millions of man hours of hard work, all of which is and has been validated by others. I've personally taken measurements of the Sun and angles and worked out the Trigonometry of its size, distance, movements, all of which are verifiable. The light energy that is constantly covering 70% of the planet at all times is so incredibly massive (around 14 million KV) that it would have to be from a giant ball of burning gases millions of miles away. A small LED desk lamp floating 10 miles above the surface would never be able light everybody that is supposed to be but still so tiny and far away that it can't be seen by people on the other side. Seriously has nobody here SEEN a sunset or sunrise? It's the same diameter the whole time, sinking under the horizon, not a shrinking circle that just disappears as it drifts too far away.
      Just because some things around you are lies does not mean that you can't trust some things. Science and Math doesn't lie, even if people do. Otherwise wtf are you all doing on a computer or phone using the internet, cause it's science and could all be lies right?

      Curiosity is wonderful. Questioning information is healthy. Historians have been motivated by the same things for centuries. To challenge and delegitimize a well documented event, however, requires counter-evidence, not just an imagination. Of course media members could be biased and corrupted back then as they can be today, But I would trust, above all else, the general populous of Chicago (already over a million people by 1890) to have collectively noticed and recorded the existence of a giant pre-existing White City visible out their windows. A conspiracy to erase any and every such mention of that site inside a major American metropolis--in the age of mass publishing, telegraphs/telephones, photography, etc. . . is not plausible by any reasonable measure. Your point about "gullible people" and "human temptation" being a problem "just like now" is probably the more important and astute observation.

    • @chamalien37
      @chamalien37  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I suppose the key phrase you used there is "whatever people WANT to think." If you want to believe any specific conspiracy narrative, no one is restricting that freedom. This video has been up for 6 years, and even though the conspiracy-based comments only started a few years ago, none of those comments have been deleted. Free thinkers (especially those seeing themselves separate from the "sheep") should welcome any and all challenges to their ideas. What a person "wants" to think, however, should never matter more than what evidence they can present to support their position. That's why I have welcomed anyone to present written or photographic evidence of the buildings of the White City existing before the 1890s. If the response is simply that "all evidence, everywhere, has been destroyed etc.," it's a non-starter. You should need and WANT to have a better foundation to build a "theory" or belief system on. If the well-documented history of staff materials and the White City's planning & construction anger you for whatever reason, then counter it with evidence to debunk those things. If you have none, then determine what you're angry about and why.

Thousands of miles of straight channels cutting through thick manzanita swamps up to 120' wide. We don't even build equipment now that can do that, and you expect horses and men with shovels did it? This is one of thousands of examples of obvious preexisting infrastructure and buildings in North America. Have you researched Star Forts? There are thousands everywhere and cities are built out from them. There are huge differences between maps from pre-1800s and now with large lakes and islands like California. Not because they were inaccurate, oh no, many old world maps have incredible accuracy as well as being covered with towns and cities both that shouldn't have existed or wouldn't be known about following the official narratives. There's many well researched and documented vids with real visuals and thousands of salient facts for you to process by Static in the Attic, Jon Levi, NewEarth, Michelle Gibson, and Wise Up.
