      What factory was this Ram made in? Michigan or Mexico? Curious, mine was made in Michigan and no real issues at all, had it a year now, 2019 Classic, but trading in for one and it was made in Mexico, 2021 classic.

    I live in Edmonton Alberta. My steering gets so hot it is uncomfortable. The seats will roast a turkey. My paint is great. Only been to the dealer once for recalls. Truck is Ram 1500 and coming up on 5 years. No lifter noise but slight rattle with heavy bass ( in the doors )

    2014 ram sport 1500 80,000 kms. Problems so far, ambient air temperature sensor, exhaust manifold bolts, steering shaft , water pump. Everything was covered on warranty no questions asked. Only thing is when my steering shaft had a loose into it , I literally had to point out what the problem was because the dealer said everything was normal. When my water pump gave out , they gave me a vehicle for a week while the parts were ordered. I also had a front quarter panel changed on warranty because there were rust bubbles popping through the paint. I think your dealership might be the problem

    The 'tick" is broken exhaust manifold bolt(s). Just had mine fixed, they're notorious for that. replace all the bolts now before they break and are snapped of inside the head.

    I have the 2012 Ram. 55000 miles Hemi tick was exhaust manifold bolts. Total of 7 some on both sides. Out of warranty cost $1030.00 to drill out. Also had to replace AC condenser $1400.00 bucks. All out of warranty.

    Thanks for the video. 12 dealer visits in 15 months is not reliable. When I owned a Jeep the Chrysler dealers in my area were brutal. Mine developed a problem with the neutral safety switch. When the transmission heated up the vehicle would not start until it cooled off. So in the summer I would have to wait 6-8 hours before I could start it again. Took it to the dealer, they had it for two weeks, couldn't replicate the problem. I don't think I'll ever own a Ram/Chrysler/Jeep product again. Too many issues and really poor service departments. The Rams look nice and they're tempting but I'm staying away.

    Good information. Agree with service department comments. Seems to be a staffing issue, as to holding on to knowledgeable techs. I have had no issues with heat/ventilated seats or steering wheel. No rattles, just wind noise near passenger mirror area. No engine tick. Overall, very happy with my 2016 Ram Sport! I would say overall, service issues are always a pain with any brand. Overall Ram experience is terrific for me! Good to hear other perspectives though.👍🏻

    My 2018 1500 sport does the same lifter ticking cold occasionally. Had 10k km or less when it did it first on its second oil change. Read up on the forums that it is "normal" for the Hemis. Didn't bother with the dealer as I'm sure they couldn't "replicate the sound" as I've been told before at dealers.
    My previous truck is a 2016 Ecodiesel SLT that just wrecked the DEF system at 2 years old and 82k km. No warranty since I was over the bumper to bumper. And lots of stories of engine failures with that motor, although I had no motor troubles just emissions.
    Anyways I can deal with the occasional tick from the Hemi as long as it doesn't cost me thousands of dollars and/or leaves me stranded. I'm doing 50% oil life max on this Hemi with the 5w20 Semi, hopefully that will keep the lifters happy long term. I got this truck as a demo with 6k km on it and so far I love it. B pillar rattle like my old one too lol. Every brand has certain issues IMO. I've not had good luck with vehicles (2013 F150 ecoboost rod failure) for a while now so keeping my fingers crossed on this one. It's near the last of the cast iron blocks and regular port injection V8s so I'm hoping it will be durable.

      +Barbara Schenck No worries, I hate it on videos like these when it goes so far off topic it turns into something else. I will also say that other than the lifter tick by no means are any of these major issues with the exception of the dealer service part but that is more of an individual experience depending on dealership. I will say that I do love my truck, and tomorrow the 5 things I love video will be up that might give you some more insight.

      604MotoVlogs yeah I know what you mean I hate that shit seeing nibs. I like my paint to look perfect ram could use more layers of paint .. btw the hemi tick you have could be because the gasoline you are using if you are running 91 octane it will cause the tick. Mine use to do it too I use the recommend 89 now and it's gone haven't heard it in months.

    I have a 2009 Ram and the only issue I've had and it's a big one with me is the Dealer service on warranty items. Make sure you follow up right after because they've repaired my ECM and blend door and tore up the carpet and isolation. I didn't notice until several months later and of course they denied doing it. However I do still love the truck and plan on keeping it until Ram makes some major changes. Good luck looking forward to your positive video.

    • @TruckTV
      @TruckTV  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Ken C Thanks Ken! Definitely agree with the dealer service they're horrible. When they replaced the passenger side door seal they gave me the truck back with the seal improperly installed and plastic trim pieces not snapped into place. Like you I still do love the truck and know that nothing is perfect. Positive video will be up tomorrow!

    I have a 2015 Sport 4x4 Crew(Brilliant Black), and I have to say, it's some of the best paint I've seen on a truck. It's better than Jeeps, which at least when I was into Jeeps, was amazingly easy to clean up, and durable paint.
    Maybe a hint of orange peel, but no better than I've seen out of BMW, Audi, and MB.
    My heaters work great.... Granted, they will only stay on high for so long, which I believe is a regulation that they have to abide by. (I think it's been known to put people to sleep...same as a hot tub)...
    I have zero squeaks or creaks on the interior of mine.... My previous truck(08 Tundra) was rediculous, turning hard, towing, or just stretching and hitting the dash with your knee, made multiple creaks... And the harmonics in both gas and brake pedals when a Harley or a car with exhaust passed, made you think something was wrong.. And don't get me started on it's paint...LOL... You look at it wrong, and there would be another primer deep scratch!!!!
    Now, lifter ticks on crank up, I do get those from time to time... Usually happens if I haven't driven it for a couple of days/or week or so....
    Mine also has a constant injector tick.... Once hot, it ticks non-stop, and I'm pretty sure it's from a injector/injectors.... It can be heard easily through the grill when standing in front... I have to investigate it more(use a stethoscope/check plugs), but I haven't found any performance issues with it....
    AMEN on dealing with FCA and their ways!!!! I'd rather rip my fingernails out with pliers than a trip to the stealership!!!!

    The heated seats are the worst. My steering wheel heat does good. I have the air suspention that sucks in MN. It failed last year and will now add alcohol to the system soon before the temps drop more. Otherwise a great truck.

  • @bigdavehornets
    @bigdavehornets 6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    Instead of a lifter tick I've heard it was the exhaust manifold leak my 2012 doesn't do it, no paint problems thankfully and I've wanted heated/cooled seats/steering wheel only regret

    • @TruckTV
      @TruckTV  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah they're common for breaking exhaust manifold bolts and having the manifolds leak as well, But with mine it's not that it's the lifters, which apparently has been fixed on 2017 and up Hemis. The cooled seats work really well, it's just the heated part that seems to have a mind of it's own on whether it actually wants to get hot or not, I'll have to take it in and get looked at again at some point.

    • @TruckTV
      @TruckTV  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Asavet Yeah they're pretty brutal, I've even asked guys on a local Ram group if there were any good dealers to take it to and they all said the local dealers suck. I've got 75k of bumper to bumper warranty left so I'm pretty much at their mercy for awhile unless I want to start paying out of pocket for stuff.

    Hi Buddy,OMG I have a 2016 Ram 1500 with the Hemi, bought it new.The last 2 weeks when I start it some real bad tappat noise . It is really bad for about 10 -15 seconds.I have 19.000 miles on it. Also have had it in 4 times because of really loud wind noise above 50 MPH. There can’t fix it.Have you heard of the wind noise on the driver side by the mirror you have to turn radio up real loud to cover the wind noise . When I bought my Ram payed for the 7 year 100;000 mile Bumper to Bumper warranty 0 deduction. Great video. Thanks

    Question - you mention the lifter ticking noise (I honestly don't hear it on my 2017 Ram 1500 SLT)... this leads to a question: what engine do you have? If it's diesel, well, diesels tend to make those noises. A V8 or V6? You may need to get that fixed.
    As for the dealer? Yup... some of them have P&S departments that suck the goat. However, even way out here in the sticks where live (Oregon Coastal Range), I have a choice of five different dealerships I can pick from... if the one nearest to you sucks, check for another one to visit.

    I hate the damn knob for the transmission. I love the good ole column shifter lever. I never had any issues with my dodges. I also do everything myself. Screw taking em to mechanics or dealer. You pay so much damn money. That plus price for parts can be over 1000$. Doing it myself I only spend a few hundred at most (depending on what I need to do) I also do the work. screw taking it to dealer. You have to make a damn appointment and the dealer is expensive! Even getting parts from them. I’ve done things that the truck has to be took to the dealer for. Fuck spending that 100$ to get key fobs programmed for my 2003 ram… you can do it yourself at home in minutes! Just order a scanner to program them in the system. I just said forget it about it cause I don’t mind unlocking the truck by putting key in the handle. If your a skilled mechanic I recommend this. Do everything yourself
    lol
    Dodge 💪🏼💪🏼never had no problems. If you maintain your vehicle, you would be alright. If you have problems… it can be because of how it was made, it can be anything. I’m glad I never had any problems. I love dodges because of their aggressive looks, the powerplants, interiors… older ones rust… ALL older vehicles rust. Dodges rot in rear fenders, GM bumpers rust completely away, FORDS RUST TOO IVE SEEN OLD TACOMAS RUSTED BADLY. Yet people shit on dodge… yeah. I have to say they are number 1 in worst rusting. Especially 1st and second generation rams. 3rd gens nose rust in rear fenders, and rocker panels. My 2003 had that. But since the ole dog was mechanically 💪🏼💪🏼 and the frame was 👌🏼mint, it deserved that rust getting repaired. She looks factory again aside from the dents and other little rust holes I’ll leave alone. Adds character. All vehicles have their flaws. 3rd gen dodge diesel transmissions aren’t great. Some GM transmissions are awful. The 5 speed automatic in my 2003 ram, I’ve stepped on that truck a shit ton she took it. Thing has 260 plus thousand miles. You drive any strong vehicle well and treat it well it’ll last you. Treat her right. Lol.

    Totally agree with this video and the service department. I have a 2016 Jeep Patriot (Mopar) that I bought brand new and they refuse to fix anything! Since I bought my Jeep I've had multiple issues with it dingy and the TPS sensor light coming on. Took it in with pictures. They run the code and say there is no code so they won't look at it. Now the TPS sensor light comes on and flashes and goes solid. I took a video of this and also looked up the fix for this. The service department sent me away not once but twice from 2 different service departments. DO NOT buy anything Mopar. I love the looks of their vehicles but this will be my last Mopar purchase.

    Great video...I bought a 2017 1500 5.7 & at about 2,000 miles noticed the tick also....it dissapeared for many months, & ticked the other day on start up....but happens so rare, I'm not overly concerned...my real issue is the transmission...when coming to full stop, it downshifts awkwardly..almost like a slight fwd thrust, back into 1st gear...going in next wk to have them chk it....only 5,300 miles..very dissapointed

    I use Hoblit Dodge-Jeep in Woodland California. They have always treated me fairly and most of the repairs have been done free , under warranty, we have bought almost a dozen cars, trucks and jeep from them. On the other hand the Chevy dealership in Davis turned me off from Chevy cars and vans with their lies and crappy service. I had been driving Chevy's since 1966 but no more.

    The lifter tick or timing chain tick is your most serious problem. Did the dealer tell that it was normal, or did a Chrysler engineer tell that it is normal? Record every trip to the dealer and get everything in writing. You'll need these records when the engine fails when it's twelve miles past the warranty. Sounds like you have a crappy dealer.

    That start up portion where you turn your truck on I got when I first bought mine and it was because the Dealer would put in low grade fuel and it was throwing off the cylinders. After depleting the gas and using higher grade fuel as suggested by the manufacture, it stopped. The Salesman don't know JACK about their own product. They only know how to show people a NICE truck but don't know things like Towing Capacity vs Gross Combined Tow etc. My seat and steering wheel work great in mine. I notice sometimes the steering wheel can get a little TOO hot sometimes. You will see soon that you will have to replace your Backup Camera. I have a 14 but after about the third year, moisture gets into the camera and creates a foggy image. I will also add that Ram will charge 2/3 more in labor than the part. For instance, the backup camera I can get on Amazon for 89 bucks. Ram will charge 159 buck for the camera and 250 bucks in labor for a 30 minute do it yourself job. I also found out Ram has a recall for the Seat Belts that they have yet to notify me about.

    I have a 2016 ram express, I feel it's a decent truck but I have all the same issues you have. Squeaks and rattles, flip down center console shakes uncontrollably and spills coffee everywhere on uneven roads, once in a while on cold start it sounds like the hemi dropped a lifter lol. Paint is thin and chips easily. 8 speed is jerky on cold mornings until it warms up and takes 2 to 3 seconds shifting from reverse to drive. I like the truck but it ain't high quality when it comes to refinement that's for sure.

      @TruckTV  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      They have their quirks for sure but at the end of the day none of them are perfect. I think the good definitely outweighs the bad with these trucks.

      C Allen not sure, I might have been a little harsh with my first comment. Every generation of any truck will have some problems. Overall I'm really happy with my 2016 ram, it's a nice driving truck that has an attitude/ feel to it you just don't get with ford or chevy. It tows well, is comfy to drive, has ice cold ac, and you can't beat the 5.7 with the 8 speed. Ram certainly makes a great truck. Any truck you buy nowadays will be a good truck

The 06 ram was great till I had to replace the rear dif..tons of towing! My current 2012...is slowly working on #2 of my shit list..a/c probs, cpu replacement, and 2 times replacing ex manifold bolts. And our local dealer sux @ss 2!

    I have 13 big horn...my old 06 had bad ball joints kind of soon in 120k mainly due to rotted boots way to early. I noticed all other boots on joints were holding fine. Now i have 4 year old truck with crack holes in ball joint boots already...so yeah that's another thing for me to watch for....BTW i never heard any start ticks on my neither one 06 or 13 hemi engines.

      That sucks about the ball joint boots rotting out, I'll definitely keep an eye for that on mine. I just send a used oil analysis off to Blackstone labs, I'm curious to see if I have higher than average wear metals or anything like that in the used oil.

    lifter tick in a hemi is completely normal. every hemi engine does it. the durango, grand cherokee, charger, challenger, 300, all of those have the hemi and all of those hemis tick. as far as the heated seats and steering wheel, those wont work in the summer. interior rattles, its a truck. not a luxury hand built $200K car. they are mass produced on an assembly line so the tolerances are looser which allows for more rattles. it sounds like you have a shitty service department because all the ones i go to are good.
