@OBDaveReacts, the "car boot" thing, we have similar, while we call ours the trunk (because that's where steamer trunks would have been strapped to a horse and buggy carriage. With ours, we have two permutations. For Halloween, we have, "Trunk or Treat," where kids can get together at churches or schools, etc., to have Trick or Treat in costumes (your, "fancy dress"), while the other thing, "tail-gating," is pre-game parties in the parking lots of the stadia, with people grilling out, having beers, etc.. The thing where people sell things as you describe, we call those, "Flea Markets," as they are generally small, but some end up becoming area staples. The 407 Flea Market in East Tennessee, outside of Sevierville, covers a few acres every weekend, and has a full building, as well as rows of outdoors set-ups people rent to sell their stuff. Oh, btw, that is also the same I-40 exit as the (infamous) Buckey's Truck Stop, with over an acre of indoor crap, mostly meat products, and the most gas pumps in one place you will ever have seen, I promise. If you ever come that way, Dollywood and Gatlinburg are just up the road. There are a LOT of attractions in this area of the Smokey Mountains, including the Great Smokey Mountains National Park itself. "The Beverly Hillbillies" family allegedly came from this way, so, "Y'all come back now, y'hear?"
P.S., see also our local Scottish Highland Games. I shite you not.
Oh, btw, @18:40 or so? Those groping trains don't allow women on them. The men are not groping women. Everybody knows that.

In fairness to Japan, most of the really weird stuff we hear about is weird to them too. The used panties vending machine happened exactly once, and was promptly shut down by the Japanese authorities for being unsanitary. But the internet got ahold of the story, and now everyone thinks stuff like that is normal over there, when it was actually viewed by the average Japanese person as being just as perverse and bizarre as it would be to us in the US or UK. Same with a lot of Japanese cultural exports like anime. It's considered just as much of a geeky thing to obsess over in Japan as it is in the West, but for some reason we tend to operate on the false assumption that it must be more mainstream in the country it came from. Overall, Japan really is much more normal than people want to believe.

I promise, Japan is for the most part completely normal, just like England or Germany or wherever is mostly completely normal. Sure, there are shady stuff going on in a limited amount of places, but that's true for every country.
And no, there are no used panties vending machines. I think there was one case of it like 20 years ago or something like that, but it was by no means normal and got dealt with pretty fast. They do sell some things in vending machines, though, that you could consider a little odd, like all types, and I mean all types, of food, toys, figurines and much more. The one type of vending machines you see most often, though, is for drinks. They are litteraly everywhere.

Building pyramids was associated with status, and not everyone had the right to participate in the construction of the tomb for the ruler. It was a very well-paid and respected profession, as evidenced by the builders' tombs.
Moreover, it's true that there is no evidence of large numbers of Jews being enslaved in Egypt. The Israelites at that time were just one of the tribes living in Canaan. Since it was nearby, there was trade between Egypt and Canaan, as well as skirmishes. People traveled between the two kingdoms, so it's possible that some Israelites ended up in captivity, but not on a large scale.

It's weird to me Dave that next year will be your first time going to Ireland but yet you've already been to Canada and the United States. Really? I mean if I was born in Europe surely I would visit all those wonderful European countries before even thinking about going to America. We really are commercialized everywhere.

28:18 Putin did actually visit Vietnam recently, and offered to help them with their Nuclear Energy Program. The official word is still that Vietnam is a committed ally to The West.
That being said, the world just keeps on turning, and alliances change over time.
