And zero sympathy to the "property manager" who can't even do her _literal_ job and check on tenants before renting the property, or ensure they're paying rent on time.... or for that matter, she couldn't even forsee how inept this makes her look for potential future clients, if I was a landlord I wouldn't want her within a mile of my property.

I'm a landlord, and even I think she's insane. She has absolutely no idea what other people are like, or why they might make certain decisions. Some people do genuinely struggle with trying to pay the rent and experience a lot of shame (which is part of why they don't want to talk about it), while some are just dickheads trying to rip people off because they know they can (it works both ways, obviously). It's important to communicate, and if things break down then take it to court, which is exactly what is happening. She is frustrated that she can't throw them out immediately.
Also, some rental management companies are shit at passing on information between landlord and tenant. A family member of mine found out they had a rental agent who would just drive past the property, slow down and look out the window, and that was their inspection. With someone like that it will only be a few weeks until the tenant is making complaints that the landlord isn't doing anything about the leaking roof, cracking walls, rat infestation, etc because they've never actually been told, and the agent just pockets an inspection fee.

(Referring to the second story) Why don’t the landlords just lower the rent a bit for a little bit if the person is going through a rough patch? Apart from paying certain bills the number you set for rent as a landlord is entirely up to you (there’s no law saying you have to charge the market rate as far as I know). Australia’s shortage of public housing means that if you can’t afford rent you become homeless, the relationship between landlord and tenant isn’t an equal one unless there’s an alternative for the renters. If not being paid rent is messing with their finances and they’re rich, imagine what paying rent *high enough to mess with those rich people’s finances* does to the renters’ finances (finances bad enough that they can’t afford rent).

Those "people" are literally derro bogans, the scum of society. They will lie, cheat, steal and not feel an ounce of regret. You can tell by the amount, and quality, of permanent retard stickers (tattoos) which have a high correlation with: low impulse control, risk taking behaviour, drugs & alcohol abuse, crime.

@@Anonymous-sv9fy That may be true, but I feel bad for any child in that circumstance - it’s not their fault - I already said that I don’t think it’s okay to do that, and I feel extremely bad for the property owners, but I also feel bad for everyone really…I can’t help it, I always try to put myself in their position and because I don’t know for sure, I always want to assume that they are good people, and that maybe they are going through hard times…
I think it’s a flaw, and I recognise that I am a sucker for anyone in need, I want to help anyone and everyone - it’s been often at my own expense, but I just can’t help it…

I don't know what the big deal is. Getting old fence pailings from jobs sites was one of my dads favourite past times. Free aussie hardwood for the slow combustion heater. Cut to perfect size on the circular saw (obviously don't use the good blade for fence pailings). He didn't litter the backyard with tons of fences, but maybe he just didn't want to ruin the good saw blade to cut it all down to size.

Having experienced the bad end of the stick with ACA, I can vouch that they have a tendency to pick up one side of the story and run with it to make the story as appealing to Armchair Karen's as possible. Totally ignoring what is actually going on, and never doing any sort of research into how legit is the story in the first place..... 🤔
