Some oldskool folks just don't understand the new generation of people that is growing in a mixture of new technology and classic availability to build at their taste and like! I personally like this build! great job kid this is a hot looking classic! Two thumbs up!
I didn't know this was standard stuff in in 1959! as most be VW classic enthusiastic claim this projects was ruined by turbos and electronics to go faster!
ur probably correct in all your arguments and no argument is made about this components existing! its the fact that chips and newer and improved turbos make this newer technology placed! in 1959 that I know where not making vw run faster because Mercedes had a turbo so must the vw bug with an aircooled engine must have one just to compete. Mercedes and vws where a whole different apart vehicles from each others
This is an awesome Beetle! In the years past I would have not looked at buying one. I used to buy and restore muscle cars. I had no fun with them. Restoring a car to sit in a show field hoping that no one scratched the paint. I somewhere along the way lost sight of things. I left the car world. The last couple of years I have been wanting to jump back in. A hot rod of some sort. The Beetle has caught my eye. What a sleeper car they can be. I really dig your car and in the following weeks I hope to have one myself. I'm looking at a 71 Super Beetle. I'm learning about them as I go. I want to soup up the motor and give it a better stance.
Yup, check out the house for sale next door, lol. Pri ck, i think id throw a full soda can at you when you came rippin by that corner... Loser. That is a nice f'n car though for sure. Too bad you own it.
Who even cara what the people next door say they don’t own were he stays so who even cares I don’t even know the people beside me been here 5 years never even spoke to them noir do I care 😂🤷♂️
Fuck all the haters!!!! You did an excellent job maintaining the classic elements of a beetle without completely chopping the shit out of it. Well Done! It is nice
Nice beettle. I have a 1967 bug myself, but it was built for mileage and not power. It has a 1699cc engine with kadrons and a ceramic-coated duel quiet pack muffler. I run HHO and a feul pressure regulator set at 1psi, and all that gets me about 41mpgs. I also have a 1971 ghia with a 2007cc engine, so I've also been bitten by the power bug myself. With gas so high its a pleasure to still see guys buiding these things for real street power, Keep up the good work.
I remember my bug.. didn't have the horsepower yours has but made me smile all the time. something about the sound of a VW engine with s stinger exhaust..makes you happy
Deferentially a poor mans Porsche here. And to be 100% with you, I would rather have this Demon Beetle any day of the week, even in snow. Great job. I hope you still have it.
I'm glad to see someone finally use a water to air inner cooler which I feel are so much better than the air to air. have packed ice in the water tank to see any HP gains from it
Dušan Pešić Do you mean a STI sounds like this? No one says your mother looks like you, do they? They say you look like your mother (if you do, idk)...
My dad had a 62 looked like that was turquoise. I had a 69. The dash on yours looks really familiar. Takes me way back in time to see your dash again. Memories come flooding back of the suburb we used to live in and my dad and mines bugs back in the seventies. Oh yeah we got a super beetle later on. It was orange. I love the sound and power yours makes. I always thought mine would be cooler if it had a little bit more power LOL.
Well done man.... The torque of a turbo bug is mind blowing init?.... Mine is so addictive!!!! Looking forward to seeing some track vids in the future.
This is the nicest sounding bug I have ever heard. Nice to see the turbo and plumbing all tucked away under the hood. Its a conservative bug, with a bad ass VW power plant. Happy Vee Dubing
Your Bug is cool. I like the stripped down all about the mechanical stuff style. It really shows how far car building has gotten away from making cool cars and more towards making appliances with wheels. The power is good to.
Back in late 70's I had good friend who owned a 72 Super Beetle. He cut 3" off the top and added 3" to the frontend. He put a Drag Race steering axle which only had a very short radius. So very wide turns couldn't be used on the street. He lengthened front-end & gave it a great weight transfer. Then the engine he spent $7000 on remember this was mid 70's money. Most cars or trucks didn't cost that much so it was high dollar for then. I don't think he ever checked the horse power. He didn't care at all but it was F-gas suited 4-1 barrel carbs. Imagine the time on a small drag strip in Central Montana. It was Funny Car weekend so there were cars from around the Country & Canada. A Drag Corvette 427 BLACK ACID pulled up to the line with my buddy in his V-Bopper called Piped Piper. First run with his new machine so it was a dead heat run. The light went green and the Pied Piper was 3 gears down the line and never touched the front wheels to the ground. 4th gear was about 200' feet into the run and sounded like a Beehive came alive. The Corvette was hot on his ass but burned out in traction. The crowd was all standing while they watched in AH. No one predicted such a run ever but that little Pied Piper won King of the Hill that weekend against the strongest V-8 in it class.
reminds me of my friend's turbo smart, he has a machine shop in central IL, he then took a toyota paseo 1.5L and stuffed that in the back of a smart and turbo'd that too! i wish i had his spare time, all mine is wasted on drinking beer!
@@Kman. If he didn't do the work himself.... then maybe more. I'm a big VDub guy.... have many classics.... I would only spend 20 to 30k on a vert resto.... the rest... you are throwing your money away for just fun.
Sweet! People complaining it's too loud? Good! They can hear you coming and won't pull out on you! If it was me though I'd raise it back to nearer stock height so it's more of a sleeper, and I'd use more standard exhaust but with bigger straight through pipes.
I want the supermoto/dualsport at 1:38!! Well.....I guess I'd take the beetle too if you wanted to give me both! Awesome ride man, love the understated look of it, everything is finished off perfectly!
Ya know at idle there are a lot of similarities of the engine sound to my '59 wedgwood blue VW But at throttle you're 10 times the HP what I had. Your work was very artfully done as well!
What a beast! did you upgrade the brakes? Please say yes! Is the trans axle still holding up. Post a parts list sometime. Thanks for keeping mostly stock

Don't understand why sombody comments that 300 hp is unbeliveable. There are streetdriven beetles here in Norway who delivers well over 300hp in much smaller displacement engines than the one in this yt clip. 380 hp 1641ccm @26psi is one example.
Not yet. There is an auxiliary oil cooler installed forward-inboard of the driver's side rear wheel with an electric fan mounted on it. Runs off a thermostat. Can't be seen in this video!
My dad was making a 300h Volkswagen Beetle from scratch with drag strips, all I have to do is attach the chassis and the lower half, the transmit on and a few other wires
Whats the aluminum box in the turbo ducting ? An inner cooler ? What about the tank under the back window ? I'm guessing cool water tank or ice ? Nice machine ,I have a '62 with a judson. It's probably making 60hp but I love it.
Ah I see, well thx for the quick response as always man. Idk, if you're like me, a fan of autosports, but it would be quite something to see that show up to a drag strip; let me know the results if you ever do!

Minor mark down for the stretch and slight 'stance' but HUNDRED PERCENT for everything else - I love it! VDO used to do an instrument cluster that was a straight drop in - have you considered that, if still available, as would be more subtle that the setup you have?

Nicely done, these are always fun builds, (I've done six bugs in my lifetime) two were turboed monsters like this.
one of the best sounding engines i've ever heard. can't wait to get my 2276ccm on the road!

That is one tough 59 VW Beetle! Sounds strong!
i like how te engine when it was in the garage just sounded like a beetle and when he drove away was like a impreza wrx sti :p
It sounded nothing like an sti lmfao, this thing would spank an sti
it's a boxer; it sounds like an sti

a quirky little car, loved the world over!
Impressive. I have a 59 too. I have like widened stock wheels on it right now. Looks pretty dope.

It sounded like that 'Stang from "Bullitt" when you first got off idle...TONS of Work in this ride!
The car is perfect! Good stance, great engine...this is sick!!!
Sounds amazing for a 2.2l
With 300 HP in a rear engine bug you should be able to lift a front wheel or two.
if this isnt the best sleeper i dont know what is
Love beetles had 3 in the 80s miss them u got a beast there and a 59. Wow nice.
Sounds sick!! I've always loved bugs but this one is badass.
what a monster and it looks badd asss! i love the air to water intercooler and the big wheels in the rear. wow. that is cool!
