The sky appears blue to the human eye as the short waves of blue light are scattered more than the other colours in the spectrum, making the blue light more visible.
Tyndall effect, also called Tyndall phenomenon, scattering of a beam of light by a medium containing small suspended particles-e.g., smoke or dust in a room, which makes visible a light beam entering a window.
Blue is scattered more than other colours because it travels as shorter, smaller waves. However, at sunset, light has further to travel through the atmosphere. The shorter wavelength blue light is scattered further, as the sunlight passes over a greater distance, and we see the longer wavelength yellow and red light.
