  • Our new grinder we bought from recycle source out of Florida. Rick Patel is the man! This is a Diamond Z 6000 horizontal grinder. 1050 Hp. Came with a 4 axle tow dolly. They put a whole new feed chain and floor in it and also all new west parts in the mill area before we bought it. This girl is ready to work.

Been land clearing for 20 years....my favorite part is feeding the grinder.
Had almost every brand currently in the process of getting a cbi 6800

Admittedly I don't have any experience with grinders like this one. But what experience I do have makes me agree with you about the difference between sub 1k up and over 1k hp machines.
Have a friend that swore down by his 550 hp grinder, how it was the best. Then he demoed I think it was a 1050hp machine for a day. It did in a few hours what his old machine would get done in a day from sun to sun down. End of the week had the new machine, old one went in as trade. Then he had a small crisis, of not having enough work to do all day. Suddenly no more getting up at five in the morning to be on site, working under lights till the sun broke the horizon. Now he could stay home later, see his kids off to school. Eat breakfast with the family, arrive at work as it was getting light. Go home at five instead of seven or eight. No more seven day work weeks end on end.
Just like a time machine such things are. Because you're not having to work slow to keep from jamming out the old machine, what used to take two hours now takes one or just 45 minutes. Suddenly you have time to get other things done more leisurely instead of having to plan and rush, get frustrated.

I do clearing in New York, I’ve been in business for 3 years, I have a small 400 Hp grinder and am looking for a larger one. Would you be willing to talk about how to accurately price work to be competitive and profitable on a larger scale?

Comparison between C18 765hp and a C27 1050hp is completely apples and oranges if the 1050hp wasn't much better i would be really disappointed. With the down Turn rotor what happens if you hit a chunk a steel in the pile?

Have you thought about running a rotobec grapple saw or do you not really deal with cutting trees😊

I’m 50/50 about them. Sometimes they would be convenient but we really don’t need one often

Every clearing crew needs at least one grapple saw. But until you buy one and really see what it can do the cost is definitely a lot to swallow

@@AmateurLogger yea they are pricey but definitely worth that money

Do you all sell the mulch? Seems like it would be easier just to burn it. Or are you all not allowed to burn?

You were right the first time. “Excavator” if you were to go buy a new cat you’d be buying a cat excavator as that’s their name
