Not making excuses but there is usually a cycle & Breaking that cycle of abuse-that has to start at the individual level. I hear that ALL the time. ) even if you think you don’t need to say anything bc you’re all grown + there’s nothing that can be done-oh yes there is. That person will go on SA’ing others. In CA there is no statute of limitations for SA. (Trust me when I say I’ve seen + spoken to 1000’s who r incarcerated for SA-most would’ve continued had it not been for getting caught. But now they’ll have register after parole. You can look up to see if your Tinder date is on the sex offender database. And I tell parents: don’t leave your children w/other people, unless it’s grandma. And even then, you have to know who’s there. And talk to your children early about what’s “not okay” & reassure them that they CAN always come tell u the truth no matter what anyone says. Lastly, this is just personal advice, I know Moms love dolling up their baby girls w/ nail polish + grown up looking outfits but sometimes simple is better. Let your child be a child. They’ll spend more time on building their character vs how they look (even with the influence of social media), if they believe that’s what their parents value. ‘Do as I say, not as I do’, parenting leaves a lot of room for children to look for more concrete direction, usually shady characters. Yes, I was a victim & you best believe it stopped with me as far as my offspring is concerned. The Demon died without meeting my children & they are 18-19 trauma free.
