Those hires cards with tab slip in the holder like crazy - have a Doby and dream of the Mays and Aaron. Love the '58 test wow on your Mays. Wow the colors pop on your Paige. Registration means so much on a card. Congrats and definitely one to be proud of. I have been calling it '49 Leaf for years. You could open a museum - thats for sharing.

Quite a pleasure to see a great variety of vintage from you Dave. As you know, I'm a big fan of the oversized stuff. The Test Issue Mays with the tab is extraordinary. I thought I loved the one that I had without the tab (and I do), seeing it with a tab is something else. Thanks for sharing.
Outstanding oversized cards Dave! And congratulations on picking up the 49 Leaf Paige! I agree that with the registry issues commonly found with the Paige card, that would take preference in your choice over centering and other issues. And you found a great example!

wow I did not even know that card existed… i collect some of the big 48 leaf cards but I have to say I ddi not even know that card exsisted until now… the 1948 leaf set is just LOADED with awsome cards… I have 5 of them but did not even know this card was in the set ?? why ???

I want to commend you on your collection especially the odd balls like Kahn's, Stahl-Meyer Mantles, Hires Root Beer, and other regional issues. So many of these reveal and collection aren't worth the time of watching. In fact it was so many of these bad videos on TH-cam that I started my own TH-cam videos today in fact. I found myself saying "my collection's way better than that" when watching some of the videos. 😂 But I can't say that about yours. I shot a couple videos today got to figure out how to put the thumbnails on there and also whether or not I want to upload the videos to my current channel which is primarily music videos from shows I've been to or whether I want to make a completely different channel. But I digress. Thanks for sharing. Never saw an actual Stahl Meyer before other than photos in an auction catalog.

They taught school kids in the 60's to GET TO THE POINT.

Dave, respectfully enough with the ‘48-49 distinction. It is recognized in hobby nomenclature as a ‘48 and for that reason it is important to keep its original designation. We all have to have a common “language “ when talking and categorizing things and for the sake of consistency and lack of confusion the original designation should remain unchanged, particularly one which was established well over fifty years ago. By the way, love the card. The color and registration are dynamite fantastic, congrats!
…. To Categorize or label Something incorrectly for the sake of consistency sounds about par for the world be live in now. grind the falsehood into people’s minds and eventually they will comply
@@Bluejacket66 Dave, we’re talking cards, not about labeling something that will have any real world implications or consequences. It’s not like talk we’re talking about the FDA labeling a food safe when it is secretly known by them to be carcinogenic.
@@51ringside3 I know , it’s just irritating that both psa and sgc have blatantly gotten things wrong in their identification of some cards, yet in most circumstances won’t change label. You’re right, not a huge deal but that is the business they are in and the hobby we are talking about
@@Bluejacket66 I’m with you, I like accuracy as well so no argument there. Not sure in this instance though anything was done “blatantly,” by grading companies as these cards have been categorized and described as ‘48’s long before they even got into the game. I guess the “blame” if you want to call it that, goes to the pioneers who first categorized and labeled these as such. I can’t blame PSA or SGC for not wanting to start labeling them differently either. From a business perspective, the blowback would be untenable. Can you imagine if even half of all previously labeled cards were kicked back to them to relabel? The onus would be on them to do it for no charge given they got it wrong. Of course they would argue that they were just following well accepted industry standards at the time though and no one could argue that. Bottom line is, it’s still highly commendable you did your research here and given your respectability in the hobby, most serious hobby enthusiasts (at least those who get on TH-cam) understand more about this set now.

It says a lot about the commentator who return comments like...."You're a real genius" and "what time does junior high let out these days??". Sorry I don't remember, I graduated high school in 1965. They taught school kids in the 60's to GET TO THE POINT.

Dave, respectfully enough with the ‘48-49 distinction. It is recognized in hobby nomenclature as a ‘48 and for that reason it is important to keep its original designation. We all have to have a common “language “ when talking and categorizing things and for the sake of consistency and lack of confusion the original designation should remain unchanged, particularly one which was established well over fifty years ago. By the way, love the card. The color and registration are dynamite fantastic, congrats!

@@Bluejacket66 Dave, we’re talking cards, not about labeling something that will have any real world implications or consequences. It’s not like talk we’re talking about the FDA labeling a food safe when it is secretly known by them to be carcinogenic.
@@51ringside3 I know , it’s just irritating that both psa and sgc have blatantly gotten things wrong in their identification of some cards, yet in most circumstances won’t change label. You’re right, not a huge deal but that is the business they are in and the hobby we are talking about
@@Bluejacket66 I’m with you, I like accuracy as well so no argument there. Not sure in this instance though anything was done “blatantly,” by grading companies as these cards have been categorized and described as ‘48’s long before they even got into the game. I guess the “blame” if you want to call it that, goes to the pioneers who first categorized and labeled these as such. I can’t blame PSA or SGC for not wanting to start labeling them differently either. From a business perspective, the blowback would be untenable. Can you imagine if even half of all previously labeled cards were kicked back to them to relabel? The onus would be on them to do it for no charge given they got it wrong. Of course they would argue that they were just following well accepted industry standards at the time though and no one could argue that. Bottom line is, it’s still highly commendable you did your research here and given your respectability in the hobby, most serious hobby enthusiasts (at least those who get on TH-cam) understand more about this set now.
