Gugu, I saw another comment about how you need to treat the root cause & that comment was 100 percent correct. I understand that you have bought a few products to deal with the moisture issue but you are nowhere near resolving the mould issue. Mould causes a lot of respiratory issues. The respiratory effects of damp and mould can cause serious illness and, in the most severe cases, death. The problem is you're only looking at the surface where there's evidence of mould but the mould is growing beyond the surface (in the walls etc.). Unfortunately, you have to have a professional look at the problem & this will cost you a lot of money. They most probably will need to rip out the wardrobe to sort this out. You can look it up yourself if you want to be certain, but it's worse than you realise. I would even go as far as saying that you should move to a different bedroom. You bought the house recently so you may have some legal recourse to either recoup the funds from the previous owners or have them pay for the repairs or even exit the sale, if necessary, (you can ask your estate agent for more details) but this is generally referred to as latent defects I.e. material defects with the property that are not apparent to the naked eye. I would: 1. Give the previous owners notice that there is a potential material defect with the Property I.e. mould. 2. Check the defects list per the Property Practitioners Act, all owners must complete and provide this list before any sale of property and the defects list must identify all material defects including this one. 3. Get a mould specialist to investigate and provide a report, the report will help with the nature and extent of the issue plus an estimate of how long the problem has generally existed I.e. chances are the previous owners knew or reasonably ought to have known and disclosed this in the defects list. 4. Then you will have the evidence you need to make an informed decision I.e. hold them liable for repairs, damages and/or terminate the agreement etc. Talk to your agent for more remedies under the Property Practitioners Act and purchase agreement (Voetstoots does not apply here).
In Europe we spray Azijn/vinegar it will never come back. All those products they sell at shop are just temporary solution. Believe me try to spray vinegar specially white one.
I 100% agree! Its hard to find Mould remover in Botswana so I opted for vinegar (wear a mask when spraying) and the mould hasn't been back for ~4 months now.

I'm very sorry about the Mould Situation. The Mould Buster is a temporary solution and the molds might come back after some weeks. The previous owner was suppose to be honest about the molds situation. 🌼 Please wash all the clothes and shoes that were in the closet. 🌼 Try to leave space so that fresh air can circulate (if possible every one/two weeks check the closet) 🌼Avoid to put any velvet shoes in the closet 🌼Avoid to put wood staff especially the one that isn't vanished (this might hurt because you are in your wood furniture era)

Oh my goodness I think you guys are gonna need to attend to the root of the mold problem rather than using that spray. Maybe you have a pipe leak. Chances are it will keep coming back. I'd be so sick because for me it's not trypophobia... I have a hectic damp allergy. My chest closes up and I would end up in the emergency room if I had to stand anywhere near the closet.
The root of the problem is poor ventilation in the bedroom😣 and the Cape Town weather is not helping at all sana! All the other rooms are well ventilated except our bedroom. Maybe in future when we have money we can make the windows bigger? But for now this really helped! But you are definitely right, attending to the root of the problem is best♥️
Sugar Soap is also very good for this. We stayed in an apartment and got this type of mold religiously on all the exterior walls that had furniture agaisnt it. We did not have those ventilation holes in the wall, and thats what caused our problem. When I used Sugar soap the mold never returned.

Hey Gugu, next time you use mound buster I would recommend that you get a proper mask because the smell is so potent like industrial stuff and so dangerous for your lungs. The mould has a very high chance of reoccurring if you don’t find the source of the moisture though. My other recommendation is that you add vinegar to your water when you do your laundry, vinegar also kills the mould. I used to use Mr Sheen Mould & Mildew bought from Take A Lot, I used to deep clean my place every second month with it walls surfaces everywhere. But the fumes are too strong, try having windows open. Also check everywhere in your home for possible other areas affected by Mold. It can also develop in food carboards that's how bad CT mould is
Hey Gugu, for a newly built home I'm going to ask you to consult a building contractor on how you can waterproof the walls.The mould we saw in your closet seems to have made it through wood, paint and plaster thus I would personally deal with the problem in the walls. because in my head once you remove the back of your closet you are going to find a damp wall, and thats what you would need to handle now as a preventative measure
Cape Town and mould sana 😢 we also have the same problem. Advise is never keep any space moist because it’s the moisture that dies that. Always keep ur windows open, frequently wipe ur cupboards and wardrobes. And frequently check in on and clamped spaces, small spaces, behind fridges, tv etc. A combination of opening windows and the moisture absorber works for me.. I haven’t had any problems. I also have my dehumidifier in the bedrooms because I have seen they are the ones that usually get moist quickly and it’s really working for me.
Hey Gugu, mold is actually downplayed in South Africa. It's very dangerous long-term, especially if left untreated. What you saw on the wardrobes could just be the tip of the iceberg. See if you guys can't get the wardrobes un-installed and inspect the wall behind. Also, since you guys stay in apartments, it 'could' be a leak from above units that no one noticed. But either way, consider removing the wardrobes coz at the back, it's definitely worse & it'll keep recurring until the wardrobe backing starts crumbling❤.

it happens sister Gugu we had the similar issue this past week here in our basement it was just one wall area (we live in USA) we used bleach solution and spray the wall. We then aired out the basement for two days and also bought a Dehumidifier, which takes out the moisture out of the air. Remember Mold loves heat, humidity and moisture. We will Be sure to keep checking the area and ventilate also periodically. Good luck sis.

My bathroom was the same due to lack of ventilation. I got extractor fan installed and it solved my problem. The whole wall was covered with mould. Now sorted since. I bought it at Builders.

Hi Gugu, honestly mould buster alone will not work. Try using the swimming pool chlorine , mould buster and white vineger in luke warm water and scrub atleast it will take 8 months to a year to come back ( wear the goggles, gloves and double your masks the mixter becomes very strong). Maybe someone will come back with the long term solution in the comments but used to work for me. I couldnt get it off some of my clothes and shoes and had to throw them yo the bin hope yours are not ruined.

The cause of the mould is the weather "always raining" nd poor ventilation I noticed this everytime during winter cause in summer I am fine next week I am also taking out all my clothes from the wardrobe ngiyaziwasha... I have the moisure absorber from Air scents its not helping for me maybe I will also need more advanced "" solution but I will see next winter.❤

Ventilation is an issue in your closest space,make sure you have a dehumidifier as well. Ask hubby to create vents. Mould is very dangerous if you breath in and it can spread wildly. On clothes it's worse

My bathroom was the same due to lack of ventilation. I got extractor fan installed and it solved my problem. The whole wall was covered with mould. Now sorted since. I bought it at Builders.

Hi Gugu, honestly mould buster alone will not work. Try using the swimming pool chlorine , mould buster and white vineger in luke warm water and scrub atleast it will take 8 months to a year to come back ( wear the goggles, gloves and double your masks the mixter becomes very strong). Maybe someone will come back with the long term solution in the comments but used to work for me. I couldnt get it off some of my clothes and shoes and had to throw them yo the bin hope yours are not ruined.
I envy people who are capable of cleaning their homes to such quality and making the bed.
The Mold problem is terrifying, if your closet is next to the bathroom , chances of getting Mold are high. THANK YOU FOR THE VLOG I ENJOYED ❤❤

The cause of the mould is the weather "always raining" nd poor ventilation I noticed this everytime during winter cause in summer I am fine next week I am also taking out all my clothes from the wardrobe ngiyaziwasha... I have the moisure absorber from Air scents its not helping for me maybe I will also need more advanced "" solution but I will see next winter.❤

For moulds in the wardrobe use vinegar, buy small humidifier for wardrobes and also try to keep the wardrobes open as much as possible

Ventilation is an issue in your closest space,make sure you have a dehumidifier as well. Ask hubby to create vents. Mould is very dangerous if you breath in and it can spread wildly. On clothes it's worse
