I understand your reaction. It is repetitive but it has clever harmonising using different contrasting lyrics together. It was a song that helped me through difficult times

    [Intro]
Ladies and gentlemen, we are floating in space
    [Loop]
All I want in life's a little bit of love
    To take the pain away
    Getting strong today
    A giant step each day
All I want in life's a little bit of love
    To take the pain away
    Getting strong today
    A giant step each day
    [Verse 1]
    Wise men say
"Only fools rush in,” "Only fools rush in"
    But I, I can't help
I can't help falling, falling in love with you
    [Verse 2]
I will love you 'til I die (Wise men say)
And I will love you all the time ("Only fools rush in")
So please put your sweet hand in mine (But I can't help)
And float in space and drift in time (Falling in love with you)
All my time until I die (Wise men say,)
We'll float in space, just you and I ("Only fools rush in")
And I will love you 'til I die (But I can't help)
And I will love you all the time (Falling in love with you)
    [Verse 3]
So please put your sweet hand in mine (Wise men say)
    Wise men say
And float in space and drift in time ("Only fools rush in")
"Only fools rush in,” "Only fools rush in"
All my time until I die (But I can't help)
    But I, I can't help
We'll float in space, just you and I (Falling in love with you)
I can't help falling, falling in love with you
    [Verse 4]
Wise men say (I will love you 'til I die)
    Wise men say
"Only fools rush in” (And I will love you all the time)
"Only fools rush in,” "Only fools rush in"
But I can't help (So please put your sweet hand in mine)
    But I, I can't help
Falling in love with you (And float in space and drift in time)
I can't help falling, falling in love with you
    [Outro]
Wise men say, (Wise men say,)
"Only fools rush in,” ("Only fools rush in,” "Only fools rush in")
    But I can't help (But I, I can't help)
Falling in love with you (I can't help falling, falling in love with yo-)
This is the version where the choir sings the first part of Elvis's "Can't Help Falling In Love"
There is also an alternative version with some different verses and without Elvis's song.

    Hi Harri
I'm a bit baffled by the reactions because to me this is a quite simple and lovely tune that is made to sound more complex by the vocal arrangement.
The basic lane that this is structured around is the cello part of Pachelbel's Canon in D th-cam.com/video/NlprozGcs80/w-d-xo.html&ab_channel=diemauerdk I know this because my sister is a cellist and she hates it because it repeats the same eight notes throughout the piece.
The vocals are very involved because this is a round (like "Frere Jacques" or "London's Burning") where different voices start at different times and repeat a verse or a line to harmonise. In the two examples above each voice sings the whole verse with the same melody while here the voices sing different melodies with different words but each of these strands, like braiding, comes to the fore and then moves to the background and returns.
To me this does embody the idea of floating but it's as if you float past the sound which causes it to grow louder as each voice joins in then gradually disappear as the voices fade one by one until the final beep after which there is nothing left.
This all sounds pretentious and probably no one will read it but it's an attempt to explain why the song is like the pieces of a jigsaw.
Many people do enjoy this song, often they talk about it having helped strengthen them after splitting up, but obviously it isn't working here.
    Ah, well!
I include the lyrics in the following post.

I thought I would drift off from the title but I found it to be " too busy" and hard to devote my full attention until the last few lines to any individual performance. I agree it may require more than one listen to truly be able to fully appreciate the performance. One of those tunes that makes you go " Huh?" Harri, great reaction as usual. 😊 Thanks Harri and Paul. 👏👏 Cheers from Canada 🇨🇦

So glad to hear such honesty Harri. Thanks for sharing Paul but a bit off for my taste but we all have different tastes, thankfully.

love to see some spiritualized love! its defo worth checking out the rest of the album (albeit some of it is pretty extreme with some of the free jazz & shoegaze/noise rock influence). this album and the title track in particular defo require repeated listenings but amongst the chaos is some really beautiful song writing so good to see u reacting to it and being honest in your reaction - the title track might seem a little derivative but its probably the most pop-like song on the album!

I've got Spiritualized, live Royal Albert Hall 1997, don't recall any of the tracks and i guess that double cd was enough, never got anymore. Maybe worth a listening to again

They really tightened up this 'style' on the later 'Lazer Guided Melodies'. Check 'Shine A Light', 'Run', 'Sway' or '200 Bars'. Love your videos.

That wasn't later, it was five years earlier. I prefer this album though.

It's not really a "single" it's just one part of what is more or less a concept album, meant to be all listened together. It's always gonna be a bit odd to try and pull it out by itself.
