    You have no idea how wonderful this video is for families like ours...we have a kiddo with multiple disabilities and we were wondering how on earth we could include her in the experience on this right...now we know the Falcon will still fly even if she's the pilot! Heck, the ship is practically a sentient character in it's own right anyway, eh? Thanks for this, so glad you did this experiment!

    • @OrdinaryAdventures
      @OrdinaryAdventures  5 ปีที่แล้ว +14

      thanks! Also ask the castmember that is seating you on the ride because I believe they can put it on autopilot so it will fly well or gun or engineer well without the person having to do something.

      Ordinary Adventures doesn't this video prove that it's always on autopilot? the only way you guys could have been less interactive would have been to have walked off the falcon again and just left the camcorder

  • @kieranhayag9107
    @kieranhayag9107 5 ปีที่แล้ว +118

    There is automation because if not, the ride would be frustrating to people who don't have the ability to press buttons or take control.
    The interaction and button pressing is to control the accuracy and timing of stuff. But there are differences. If you hit the brakes, you don't hit the train. The missiles and hyperspace are important and they have to happen, but when it comes to interaction, you get to control the timing of it and have that satisfaction of actually activating it.

    • @Ricoxemani
      @Ricoxemani 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Also the entire ride would just get stuck if nothing happened since there's a limited amount of time the ride can take

      It makes sense. What's the experience if someone goes AWOL at the control? Either because they're not getting it. Or because they're specifically wanting to screw with people. The ride needs to maintain the flow and limp along without significant impact.
      A lower score only "counts" in that you're not walking off with as many credits on your Datapad. Which... I'm guessing most park goers aren't even aware of.

    That was fun. Can't stop watching your videos. Last week we did realize the simulator does somewhat take control. A group of 4 in front of us decided to just watch and video the whole ride. Without touching the controls. Oddly, our piloting skills has now improved greatly. For me it's better to gently nudge the controls.

    It has to be pretty much automated - it is still just a film, and on a time schedule. If you ride with someone who does not know, or care, about how to 'play' it, then your experience would be ruined. There has to be a default course it will run.

    I recall reading that Disney claimed there are 200 buttons(??) they could enable. They could have gotten really complicated/simulation but not sure how some people would react if Disney made it more simulator than ride/attraction and the riders could t even get off the planet. It's a fine balance. It would be interesting if DIsney dedicated one cockpit for the serious avid fan who wants a simulator as opposed to just another ride/mission space.

    Funny video all. I rode this ride 10 times, curious to see this. This ride is a c to d ticket. Just lacks that magic.

    Ah, back in the 'olden days' you just sat in a ride and were amazed and entertained. But since video games became popular we have got more used to actually doing something, rather than just sitting and consuming. Disney feels the need to give that illusion to some extent, I guess.

    I have a theory about the one coaxium that you managed to grab. You went without engineers, who has the job of firing the hooks. Just like if no one uses the lightspeed lever, the ship still goes to light speed. Maybe if you have someone in the seats to purposely misfire, you ight get away with zero coaxium.

    I went on single rider four times and it depends somewhat on the pilots. Three times I felt fine but one time a pilot kept swaying left and right and left and right and by the end of the ride my head was spinning. LoL.

    I think you got that one container by running into it! And who is the guy with the Spanish accent giving all the orders? Where does he fit in the time line? Wouldn't a machine voice saying engage missiles, or activate hyperdrive sound better than him?

    And why can't they create a full interactive, totally game controlled by the user? Wouldn't that be a better ride? Put that question out.

    • @dlewisroy

      I've had this idea for years even tried to get it to the big company to be developed but without success. If we could make this a movement I'd be 110% behind. A rebel squadron ride/ game that allows multi player interaction. Fully controlled by the user giving each user their own experience.

    Now must set a goal not to score any coaxium.
