I was using that same technique about 6 weeks ago here on Lake Champlain... worked very well on both the walleye and the smallies

Joe: Do a TH-cam search for Justin Johnson. He's a young blues guitar player. I think you'll like him

I live in Iowa and mostly fish for walleyes in our locals rivers. I’m not really a fan of lakes but my question is would this same technique apply in rivers with moderate or slow current? I’m just starting to learn more about jerkbaits. Thank you. Awesome video !

The answer in its simplist form is YES. But the only way to know for sure is to execute the play. Try it. If there are fish in that catchable zone - they are likely to strike a jerkbait. 👍

I hammer walleyes in rivers in Iowa on jerkbaits. Snaggy areas I use cheap husky jerks, and areas I’m familiar with get the cutter 90. Mid October to December is awesome pausing longer the colder it gets. Short spinning rod 6’6-7’ and 10# braid with a 14# fluoro leader. The key is short twitches in the rod near current seams. If you can get the bait to dance in place it is deadly and you can bomb smaller baits on the spinning rod with more accuracy.

@@codybertram6122 so for instance if I’m fishing 4ft or 12ft I can still use a jerk bait that only dives 2-3 feet? Or should I use a deep diving jerkbait on depths 8ft and deeper?

@@suljo23 on thin braid they will dive deeper than rated and fluoro leader helps sink. I’ve used solder wrapped around hook too if I want more. I keep some deeper diving jerkbaits too but usually anything deeper than 10 feet gets the paddle tail swim bait imo jerkbaits work best around rocky ambush points. I seem to lose more in the deeper water

I also test my jerkbaits suspend in the sink.
