That joke was made in 2009, eight years before the scandal. Which tells me two things: either that was an open secret that not many people really believed at the time or doing comedy gives you psychic powers.

I'm glad someone in the Q&A section mentioned that. It ALWAYS bugged me that they establish Roger in the first couple of seasons as a shut in that can't leave the house, but once they discovered he can have these different personas, they became a staple of the series. Even leading up to before the Smiths knew Roger and when he first arrived on Earth. I like to think that Stan refused to let Roger use any of these personas the first few years he was living there because he was probably caught by the CIA under one of them.

The critters joke is funny because the voice of Steve (Scott Grimes) starred in the critters movies.
Poor Ned Beatty. That joke is soooo true. No matter what else he did afterwards, no one could really watch him on the big screen without thinking about "squeal like pig."

Lord of the rings: return of the king for the first one. The context of the episode is Roger has been acting like Gollum trying to get the gold medal back before they throw it into the original Olympic Torch to destroy it. So at the end of the episode he bites Stan's finger off just like Gollum bites Frodo's, even though the conflict has been solved, because he wants to "finish the movie "
And pretty sure the other one is Kiss the Girls. Although Ashley Judd running around in the woods is not a major part of the movie, the identity of the person she's running from in that scene is.

Das Boots was good, but I didn't get the dinner scene.
It's supposed to show the contrast from the other sailors and how much easier life is for them compared to the tired and dirty submariners, who could not possibly have prepared such a meal on their U-Boat.

It is the best German movie ever made. The 'real' cut is about 6 hours long so basically a mini series while they do made 2 shorter versions. If you ever want to watch a ww2 movie with German perspective watch this one.

My theory with this is that the CIA partially erased Roger’s memory and it’s been coming back to him more and more over the years. We’ve seen evidence of him forgetting things, the Logans from the episode where he cheats with another family is probably the best example.

Question about your process, one superfan to another! Once you have an idea for a compilation, do you essentially click-through all the episodes, or is it all from memory?! The ‘how’ fascinates me!
I have the same question. I can remember 1 or 2 scenes but I would need to look up episode list and then go through episodes. Maybe Google specific phrases like 'movies' with American Dad and in the episode guides if it mentions it you have your list of episodes to go from.
