- Fire Emblem: Three Houses mixes things up in its war phase, allowing you to recruit students and assign them roles on the battlefield. The Nintendo Switch game also puts less emphasis on the weapon triangle and more of a focus on combat arts.

This is Fire Emblem, all right.
I'm replaying Revelations (Skipping the story cuz it doo doo) and Oboro missed a 93% hit, twice. Then got hit with two under 70%'s, then died.
Reset and was like, "do that again and you're off the team."
Was playing Thracia 776 before. Had to kill one Killing Edge guy with Maretta, she had 99% chance to hit. Missed twice, got critted by an 10% hit.
*Fire Emblem is a cool and fun game.*
Once while I was playing Birthright, Ryoma activated Astra with a 94% chance to hit. He missed the first 4 times... It wasn't a big enough mistake to cause me a restart but still...
also bernadetta missing a 91% hit chance as an archer in the treehouse presentation on her second attack(not shown because it was skipped) leaving the attacker with 7 health
Do we know if this game has true hit ( 2 RN system ) or a 1 RN system like Echos , and every game before binding blade ?
Hot take: game previewers play poorly on purpose to make the viewers think "I could do better than that!" and subconsciously want the game more.

I really like how the units actually have a squad and its not just the single person fighting, makes far more sense.
Man I going to miss entire army being wiped out by a fantasy version of glee, but this is cool too I guess.
I think the whole squad thing is optional tho
I mean it still made sense in the older games, considering the player's characters were your army fighting against the enemy.
@@AFlyingTaco1 It didn't make much sense, it was something you just had to accept. No large scale battle would ever be fought with like 20 people on each side.
@@iamaveryoldman4026 Felix doesent have a squad. infact he gets +5 attack for either not having one or them falling so im guessing they equip or unequipable

No different from most end bosses. You've got more ability to dish high damage early so throwing monsters that are higher health makes a kind of sense.

i really hope we get some over the top combat animations. not every single moves but at least something to look forward too. sacred stones had some of my favorites.

The King of Beasts has 120-180 health, has 1-2 range AND and AOE attack, and it can one or two round all of your units. That's fucking hardcore and I love it

This looks better than I originally thought. I've never played a fire emblem and i really don't like tactic type games however the story of this one intrigues me and watching this combat system helped my appreciate this game a bit more even though I'm un inclined twords tatic type fighting systems.
I am pumped for this game!
I am also hyped for a possible Binding Blade Remake with the 2-d art style of guilty gear. A guy can dream.

Why are these Units so OP. They Deal to much damage. Especially Byleth.
You can tell the person playing is not good at it cause he let the MELEE UNITS attack first. NO, you bring your RANGE UNITS to attack first then move your melee units in to finish them off.
Actually you have your weaker units go in and have Frederick finish then off.

A game that could benefit from Anti-Aliasing with the power of a Switch Pro. I am sure the Switch Lite has the power to make the games look better but Nintendo will hold that new power back and only improve battery life
it looks much better when you zoom in on whole groups, can you move units around that way?
Wish this showed more info on the state of exp gain. For me that had been the make or break point for most of fire emblem series.

The way weapons hit enemies seems really janky. Like attacks have no weight to them.

A legendary weapon with unlimited use would kinda fuck balance.
More Classic Fire Emblems usually had breakable Legendary weapons, its nothing new.

I really want this game for the sosial sim aspect, but the tactical combat is a huge turn-off :(
This is the same idea of combat animation gameplay in turn based games that i had since 10 years ago, i think i will have to make a game with the idea since no one applied it properly (not even this game) yeah making a game is hard tho but i guess i could make a demo in unreal or godot engine

@@draco4450 Yeah PoR and RD had a faction called "Other units" You can issue certain commands for them. This was with usually laguz or generic soldiers. But its cool that its back regardless!
I remember specifically that this feature was in at least one map in awakening. The one where you recruit Yarne.

Two hp bars actually. Those red gem indicate the number of hp bars. The king of beast of 120 hp or 60 hp per bar.
Edit: 3 health bars or 180 hp. That's one tough monster.
@@KP-dx3sx looks like it will be 3 health bars if it keeps consuming the gems to heal up (2 gems will be 3 health bars)

Chances are Sword of the Creator has a recharge mechanic of sorts, since we keep on seeing it fully charged to start in all footage we've gotten.
20 uses, especially when combined with combat arts, would make the weapon basically useless for most of the game without either a recharge mechanic or A LOT of repairing. I'm betting it's the former.
It's been confirmed that when weapons run out of durability they break but stay in your inventory so they can be repaired later. This is like the durability system in Genealogy

I think it'll work like magic. Like, you'll have a certain amount of uses per battle, but they'll recharge afterwards.
I mean, with only 20 uses, they'd have to get repaired A LOT if that's not the case, especially with how much combat arts wear down the weapons.

Most people are assuming it's like the Master Sword in Breath of the Wild where it wears out instead of breaking and then has to wait to recharge. That or it regains x amount of charge each map.

This game is looking solid the boss encounter was pretty cool and different from the norm. Initially Iwas skeptical aboutthe battalions thing, but it just adds another layer of depth :D

I love how the map showed that the Beast's attention was on Dimitri, but then attacked Sylvain.
The beast had an 'attention area' marked out on the map in a swirly purpley red thing - it disappeared when the characters moved outside of it, which shows up twice in that footage

I think the Sword of Creation refills its durability each map. Every preview we've seen so far has had the sword start the map at full durability at different points in the game. Plus, 20 durability would seem like a very small amount for a legendary weapon you get so early on.
You could see that miss at 90% hit and just KNOW that this is an fe game all right

I was already gonna get this game but was real worried if the story was gonna be lacking that and the animations and graphics look real messy but after the new trailer my hopes skyrocketed
Who said the graphics looked bad? They don't look bad to me. In fact, it looks way better than Path of Radiance and Radiant Dawn in my opinion but time will tell if this game will be better than both of them.
While I agree, I do believe that decade old games are not a good comparison metric. It’s a gorgeous switch game and looks better than Mario Odyssey imo.
The graphics aren't that bad but at times the animation is a little choppy and stiff. I'm not a fan of Koei Tecmo games but it looks decent.
The graphics quality is fine or whatever but with this camera angle and the roughly similar silhouettes of the characters I feel like I'm going to have a hard time quickly assessing complex battlefields... I'd honestly rather have simple, clear, legible sprites on a 2d board.
LOL, even Radiant Dawn was released 12 years ago... If the graphics didn't improve one bit, Nintendo can go shut themselves down already. I think it just isn't as impressive as what people expected...
There isn't a single good looking 3D FE game. Even PoR and RD looked mediocre for their time.
The war-like battle animations are definitely new, yet I can't tell if they're necessary or not.
Also, Byleth is AMAZING in this game! ^^

The 20 uses is there to discourage over use of a possibility game breaking weapon. There is probably a repair or recharge by paying or giving materials to a Smith or Sothis.
Am I the only one surprised that there's a dismount option in a fire emblem game? Probably makes for some good strategies maybe
I dont know why anyone has pointed this out but whenever you defeat the general (unit you deal damage to) the rest of the soldiers retreat. Example at 7:00
I could see how that would happen. Assume the general is the tactician and most experienced soldier to any given squad. If they go down that'd be a huge blow to morale and potentially cause the soldiers to break ranks.
Yeah, if you run away but your side wins, you're in trouble. If you run away after the one in charge dies, that's enough of an excuse

Echoes: Shadows of Valentia had equipable shields. It's likely the same here.
