No local chat in an mmo lol I know its CBT and we shouldn't judge too harshly. But for a game to advertise itself based on its community aspects so strongly and to not have one single community aspect to it is alarming. The truth is that this game was probably meant to be more of a single player 3d stardew valley. The "community" aspect is so woefully under-developed that it doesn't seem like they put time into developing it at all. Even at 8:20, how is that not something that you think about beforehand? If your game was intended to be an online multiplayer experience, where people collect resources together, the first thing you would think about is optimizing that experience. This game doesn't feel like it was meant to be online multiplayer game (co op at best), it feels like it was intended to be a single player game.
i understand not wanting to be negative about a game you like/love, but i want to thank you for this. it feels good to have my concerns validated without having to endlessly scroll the feedback channel on discord. i was following the game since around 2021 but never got into the alphas. now that i was invited for the beta, both me and my friend, who is more experienced with social mmos on the peaceful side, are starting to see the cracks after just two days of playing. while i enjoy seeing the good side of things, watching endless videos about how great this new up-and-coming cozy mmo is with the same corporate-ish phrases from the trailer repeating over and over feels weird. so yeah, the criticisms must be heard, and i really hope the devs will listen to the players and will be able to turn things around. i want to love this game and sink ungodly hours into it but i don’t know if i can see myself doing that at the current state of things
There's a lot to enjoy about the game as you say but it being a community based mmo seems like an afterthought. They are soft launching in a few days and parties/communities are bugged, chat is wiped every time you change a zone, there's no real trading/bartering (and you have already discovered an item to request it), no true co-op house/neighborhood building and farming, no place to learn about in game communities with a list to join, shared looting is in opposition to tool progression, no local chat, can't invite someone from your community to server swap unless you're friends, processing most materials isn't even slightly profitable, furniture crafting is a gold sink as you can't sell or gift unwanted furniture, and you're forced to be a Jack of All Trades as the skills rely upon each other. Is the cheering on people fishing bonus still a thing? There's no way to know. They don't even explain things like shared looting or flow trees. I could go on and on with examples. I'm having fun with the game but it's definitely a single player game with a couple others running around. I'm already nervous my new-to-Palia friends will quit due to how unpolished multiplayer is.
I think it should be declared as early acces, to call this out as an open Beta State is confusing. I mean you cant even sit in your own crafted chairs or just on the ground. There is no proper Animation if you Fall into water. You will just dissppear and respawn at the ground. Or if you into cooking have fun with lvl 4 recipes cause Butter costs Tons of Money ^^, Looks like you should be able to craft later Butter out of Milk. Maybe from your own cows? Who knows, cause we Miss actually a roadmap ^^. Beside this there are lot of working things and in my opinion this Game doesn’t need much complexity cause it’s pretty calm and down to Earth :). Actually there is many stuff to do and explore on two gorgeous maps (for a free game), but after 3 months of casual playing we will probably run out of content and wait for the next evolution. Patch is btw around 0.165 so we are far away from a 1.0 Launch with all planned features. So maybe Palia could be successful and finished in 2025 :3. The most i am unhappy with is the communication and the lack of Informations like which features have a high priority and which are maybe excluded during this - probably long - Beta Phase :). They have definitely much to do :D.
Right now the game is new and shiny so a lot of people are willing to look past the games flaws. Not to mention a lot of people haven't even got to play and are just watching the hype channels. But give it a month? And a lot of people are going to realize there's not really much to do outside of redecorating your house unless Singularity 6 is able to pull off implementing completely new systems. I guess we kind of have to wait and see but one thing I find completely discouraging is that the discord feedback channels are locked behind a role. So some people less experienced with discord can't even share their feedback.
This is the first honest review of this game I have seen. After about 30 hours in the game I can honestly say this was not ready for "Open Beta". My guess is they needed money and wanted to make their cash shop open for as many people as possible. So far my feeling is this is a good foundation but needs a ton more work before it's ready for a full release and I am talking at least a good year or even two.
The sad thing is i can totally feel the love you have for this game as you criticise it. Like a disappointed parent honestly wanting their child to do better. Shows more honest love than everyone else who claim to love the game and shove their head in the sand claiming the game is perfect while it slowly loses people and their attention.
So many things well enough that you can clearly see the foundation. It's so close, and I'm hoping they can turn it around personally. I enjoy playing it, but it feels like it isnt the game I was promised. Hopefully they can get there.
It just needs some times, like you mentions too soon for the release, alot of places needed to be polished. I have been playing this for about 20 hours and still not getting this MMO* feeling to it yet.
The only problem I have is that people remember games by their first impression, their first chance to play them. Very few have been able to successfully turn this around, and thats the big fear people have with it entering open beta, aka publicly available for everyone.
I play the game and it doesn't feel like an mmo. It feels like a single player game to me. I thought it was going to work like Archage but cosy elements. I thought we would have the freedom to be able to build our homes beside each other. And be able to trade with each other and maybe venture into dungeons (mines) to collect rare stones as a group or something.
Guild Wars 2 has an "instanced resource nodes" system, which means any number of players can mine the same node one after another and each player will get full loot from it. This would actually be an excellent accompaniment to the already existing node instancing for friends grouped together, who don't even need to wait for their turn! As for hunting and catching bugs, the best solution, IMO, would be a basic/advanced skill split, a bit like several other MMOs have. For instance, if the level cap is 10, levels 1-4 could be basic, with every player able to train as many basic skills as they wish, and levels 5-10 would be advanced, with a limit to how many could be trained - two, or, at most, three such skills would be perfect. This way, players will need to choose which activities they enjoy and are good at. If a player could try their hand at all skills, but decide be a Master of hunting and tailoring, there would be less competition for high-level animals, for example. If the abovementioned skill split was paired up with an auction house for player-to-player trading, this could result in a lively economy!
I got my closed beta email , played a few hours last night and i dont see the hype to be honest felt very empty and for a mmo felt so lonely lol. And the cash shop prices are ridiculous just like dreamlight valley. Ill be waiting for fae farm next month. Would rather spend $70 for a full game i can enjoy then a empty shell mmo. Shane i was so exicted for this.
I was so hyped.. played it for a few hours.. didn't like it and it's hard to say why. I also don't understand how to play with people. I think the farming system is literal trash.. what were they trying to do with the scratch card type plowing? Forever out of storage.. world is boring.. No love from me. Villagers and Heroes is an mmo that has existed for a long time, I kinda hoped Palia would have a village like in that game. You can have a whole guild being neighbours. It's still instanced but just up to a certain number of houses in an instance. If Palia had this it would feel so immersive and nice.
Fantastic video, I know there has been different things tested in regards to community in the past but nothing has really nailed it, and I would have liked to see it prioritized over other areas. DON'T ASK ME WHICH AREAS because I think there are a number of gameplay loops and features that need attention. Side note - we lost it when you couldn't get that person to come share the copper node and pointed at it and didn't hear anything you said for 30 seconds in that part because we were laughing.
He just seemed so mad at me... I get that its a weird in this game compared to others, but they seemed so...annoyed? Also, I feel like there are many areas to improve on, but the feel of the game needs to be there throughout. Sort of sad that its really not.
@@DoitiEtokNews I have found there have been two types of players in this game. Those who come from the "cozy gaming" sphere and those who come from a more traditional MMO side of gaming. Most of the people I've run into who seem annoyed at the behavior come from the MMO side of things where resource gathering isn't shared so they don't realize your not stealing there Matts.
Also this game is competing with games like Minecraft(when not a horror game) or Animal Crossing. Can it really prove itself over games like that without the social features.
I would be willing to wait to play Palia if they moved the open Beta further out, but it sounds like the fixing they would have to do would be prohibitive to their release plans. That sucks, but I still want to kick the tires on Palia myself. Of course I, having no financial invested interest in this game, can speak from a detached outsider perspective on what they developers should and shouldn't do all I want. They don't need to heed by sage-like insights. However, I hope they at least pay some heed to the people who are in the closed Beta, playing the game. I will still give Palia a fair shake when I get a chance. Thank you for sharing your thoughts and experiences with Palia. I hope your recovery continues to go well.
I don't mind this game in terms of gameplay, but where it falls short for me is the multiplayer aspect. There are a million and one farming/crafting sim games I can play, but the reason I wanted THIS one was because it promised a social aspect and also good multiplayer gameplay! To be honest, there just straight up isn't any. You can't create a group farm or interact easily with friends, and there's not much point to even interacting with random people. It also feels weird to have a giant map with nobody really there.
This is my first community like game ive played coming from a hardcore mmo background. I enjoy the game for what it is now but i feel it's going to lose me pretty fast aswell.ive played about 50 hours or so and my main complaint is the lack of multiplayer elements. Other than for taking down infused trees and elder sternuk its just a singleplayer game and thats unfortunate for an mmo, even mmo lite.
I will say that at this point although “communities” seem to have no point, the devs have stated that there are future plans for the guilds, such as guild competitions with special prizes. So it’s understandable that they haven’t reached that point yet in beta
Its interesting to hear other people's experiences in the game. When mining or flow tree hunting ive been pretty fortunate that the servers I load into people are working together by calling out where the palium and flow trees are and letting everyone take a hit/waiting for everyone to get there before harvesting. But i also have run into people who just come up and harvest from under you as well. I also have to remember its in beta its not full release and adding features and testing them before adding more can be more beneficial in the long run. The systems that are in place now like the decorating (the best ive seen so far in games like these) may have been complicated to code. I'd rather a game take longer to develope then get a bunch of stuff added that is always bugged (im looking at you Ark Survival Evolved). That being said I also agree that theres a lack of real community based play at this time but im looking forward to when it is added.
Good comment and well thought out, however I do want to say that while the decorating in this game might be good for a life sim game, the advertising of this game as an MMO really hurt them in this particular field. There are so many MMOs from the past that did non-combat and decorating so much better than what is currently present, and it hurts because they very easily could have looked at any of them and said "wow, we can really make something that will blow players minds by just modernizing these 25 year old mechanics." But they didn't do that in a game that seemed to be specifically designed to do it. I guess it's funny to me because while you say its one of the best for this type of games, I see it as extremely limiting.
@@DoitiEtokNews I would be interested in knowing some of these MMOs from the past, I mostly come from the combat side of MMos and would love to check them out and compair. Thank you for taking time to reply to my comment :)
@@NerdyBirdie. Quite a few older MMOs had non-combat classes, housing and such, but most of them had combat or were combat oriented. Personally I played SWG, but people have brought up a few others.
I agree with everything you've said. I'm having fun with closed beta as a singleplayer experience but it really doesn't feel like a community based MMO at all...
I came from playing Sky cotl, people would come up and interact with you just because. Here, even with incentive for coop, i see most people just prefer playing solo. Hunting is like a passive agressive simulator. I have been going up to people and do emotes and I have only one guy wave back at me so far.
I played the alpha and closed beta and there's so many little issues but if i didn't play this game specifically to do stuff with friends, i would've gotten bored very quickly. my number is 37!
its an early access, work in progress game. yes, it's a beta release. but since when does beta mean final product? there isn't a need to be so negative about the game and drive people away from trying it out. i understand that listing concerns is important, but it's literally just launching for the first time to the public where anyone can play it. all the features will not be there in any game that is early access.
Beta is a stage in software (which games are) production where something is feature complete (or very near it) where you are testing for bugs and final polish. The game isnt being sold as Early Access, its a beta. As you say, its launching for the first time to the public, this is where they NEED to have all their ducks in a row. First Impressions count more than anything, and trust me, you'd rather have people not play the game because they saw a negative video rather than them experience it, feel like they were lied to, and them warn all their friends and other people on the internet.
I think you're assuming "feature complete" while considering their long term roadmap. This game is absolutely feature complete for an MVP launch. With that said, def fair criticisms of the game. I think it would've been a great if Palia's social aspect were a work in progress but had super solid single player content. That way even if the population dwindles I could have fun with it.
@@DoitiEtokNews Then if its almost the final release, I think the game is excellent for what we are getting right now. It initially has enough potential to keep players playing (hopefully) until they add more features in. The thing that rubs me the wrong way about a lot of your Palia videos is a lot of it feels hostile and personal. I agree, a lot of the expected features aren't here and its disappointing, but they will be with time. I just think we should enjoy the game for what it is right now in its current state, not what it could be. Not forget about what's missing, but make sure they stick to adding everything that they said they would.
thx for the vid. I hope some people will find their plaice in Palin. For my after the Creative Space update for Phantasy Star Online 2 NG i found my Social hub. And Palia has nothing to offer for my. but I also was never the Harvest moon player at start. but the cozy attempt was promising. and Like I said. I hope they will be able to get out what the people suspected.
Thank you for your honest critique. You made very good points. I am also disappointed in the community aspect not really being there. It was the main draw for me from the hype up. I hope they reschedule that open beta. O am going to keep playing for awhile but to be honest, 2 days in and I am wondering what else to play.
I was hoping Palia would give me a soft landing into the social aspects of a multiplayer online game because I've always been a solo hermit who likes to play at his own pace, but everyone was ignoring me even though I was waving at everyone. Oh well. I guess there are a lot of solo hermits out there nowadays.
I feel like they have a long way to go to keep it interesting in the future. Right now, I have a lot of fun playing, but yeah, I totally understand what you are saying. Yesterday I was hunting and mining and I found it hard to get ore/sernoks, because other players took it before me. To be honest it gave me a lot of irritations, and that's NOT what I want to feel when I play a MMO game. It made me sad I felt this way after only 4 days of playing the game.. 😢 So I hope they'll improve.
I think is important that you pointing the flaws. For the way you saying i believe you pessimistic about the game, and its ok 🤔 Im think is poasible to implement new things and alter stuff in the future. Like new world, that was garbage when it launch, but after one year, or more than that, the game improved a lot. Isn't necessarily the same, because one is amazon and the other isnt hahhaha So i dont know how fast singularity 6 has to pay back. I hope they have room to improve things along the way. I didnt play as much as you, im doing this im my pace, for now im liking But i can agree with you about the problems. But, because is the first online game of this kind, im still hopeful that they can work out things. 🤞
I agree with you about new world (i haven't played it) but because of it's disastrous launch people are not only not interested in knowing about their improvement but they completely dismiss it. First impressions count.
I'm really hoping they can turn it around, but I'm very worried about the first impressions and player dropoff over the coming weeks and months. Also, I'll be honest, after I discovered the vulnerabilities that were left in the chat servers in New World I haven't touched the game since, never looked back. First impressions are scary.
Yeah honestly I got into the closed beta, but finding out that the housing plots are instanced just instantly turned me off of the game. The local chat is another thing but even the main chat was barren apart from a "Hallo" at the start of the launch of the beta. I just felt incredibly lonely with not a lot of will to move forward or do stuff. I do like how the game looks and talking to npcs, but this is supposed to be a community focused mmo and for me the community and the mmo part are both missing here. The community soley exists on the discord, if you dont engage there this might aswell be a single player game. I'm not sure if I dreamt about player villages ever being announced, maybe I'm imagining it, but even thought there are a lot of other things to consider with that, I think just being able to meet someone in the wild, form a friendship and decide to be neighbours would've been extremely fun. For now I think I'll be taking a step back until development is complete though. Keep up the great work, love the channel
currently we are in a closed beta, that has a purpose, and is not the game from day to day. I brought a few friends which have not played much games so far, they are crazy about Palia. Finally agame without having to kill endless foes to get throuh it. we hunt together, chop woods, we gather together. It is fun. That you yourself are disappointed after 3 days not to have reached maxlevel on all skills is your problem. In fact my friends can play together though we have different levels, and we have fun. As far as I can see they increased nodes very much till 06.08., no problems anymore to get as much as I can carry. We have fun, sad you don´t have fun and wasted your first day on getting a glider.
It's all about the solo player MMO nowadays. Damn shame, even community MMO's are just single player games. Also, I've only seen 3 people wearing cosmetics in like 10 hours of play. That's baaaaad...
I've been playing Palia for three days now and I love it. Yes, there's a lot they can add, but it's in beta testing mode right now and they'll be continuously adding things to the game for years to come. If it's not the game for you, though, then it's not the game for you.
Why is my comment getting deleted? I'm trying to raise awareness of an issue affecting many of us, we're unable to play at all because we're stuck in a white room with two gates. Tickets are being closed with no resolution.
I have my comments set to hold potentially controversial comments for review after some particularly bad ones in on videos in the past. I’m not at my computer right now, but I’ll see if it’s there asap. Im not seeing any comments from you, unless you're talking about from Palia, in which case this is the first I've heard of it and I'll look into it more on later
@@DoitiEtokNews We got an update in the discord issue channel, says they are working on it and that it's a complex issue. At least they said something.
if I had to give palia a score between 1 and 10 I'd have to give it a 6/10. like you said the game is very pretty and the zones are really cool but they feel empty and soulless at times.. I agree that hunting and mining is just a chore in the game mostly cause I'm always competing with someone else. part of the reason I wanted to play palia is because I didn't want to compete with the community I wanted to work with them to build a place for all of us. I was surprised that there wasn't an in game event for the soft launch of palia. if this game is gonna survive as a social mmo lite, its gonna need some kind of event to help pull people together. finding it hard and harder to go back to palia cause there's not much keeping me there.
It didn't feel empty and soulless for me until about 7 hours of nonstop playing and I realized I was the ONLY PERSON LEFT ON MY SHARD lol. I exited and tried to re-enter and found myself waiting in a queue of over 2,000 people! I should've stayed where I was lol. Honestly with only 25 people per shard, I expected maybe 50 plots all around the open map to claim as your own in the open world, but nope. *THAT* was unexpected for a "social mmo".

There is a chat box, but it clears when you leave instances, and if someone types it only shows for a few seconds. It really needs to just be something that is permanent on screen rather than disappearing after 3 seconds

Idk what prime numbers are...
FINALLY, Someone gave a number! Fun one too, reminds me of the song 3s and 7s
its an early access, work in progress game. yes, it's a beta release. but since when does beta mean final product? there isn't a need to be so negative about the game and drive people away from trying it out. i understand that listing concerns is important, but it's literally just launching for the first time to the public where anyone can play it. all the features will not be there in any game that is early access.
For the way you saying i believe you pessimistic about the game, and its ok 🤔
Im think is poasible to implement new things and alter stuff in the future. Like new world, that was garbage when it launch, but after one year, or more than that, the game improved a lot.
Isn't necessarily the same, because one is amazon and the other isnt hahhaha
So i dont know how fast singularity 6 has to pay back. I hope they have room to improve things along the way.
I didnt play as much as you, im doing this im my pace, for now im liking
But i can agree with you about the problems.
I also thought that the community part is lacking a bit, hope on finding a discord community to play the game with
currently we are in a closed beta, that has a purpose, and is not the game from day to day.
I'm now in love with your work on this game please keep going don't stop until the full game release
The only time I talk to people mostly is for legendary deer or rare wood so do I feel thiers a player community nope
If a game takes side content of a lot of other MMO's and makes it their main content, they should do it better. Palia, absolutely has not.
I was really enjoying it til today when my progress was completely wiped.... Will keep updated as to support resolution but for now im done... Q-Q
At least they said something.
social interaction is non existent

if I had to give palia a score between 1 and 10 I'd have to give it a 6/10. like you said the game is very pretty and the zones are really cool but they feel empty and soulless at times..
Based on NPC reaction I think an in game event is coming or intended.
Wait What No Trade Dame That Also Meant No Player Store Stan's🫥 edit When You Say No Place To Have A Conversation I Do See From Game Play There Do Look Like There No Chat Box
There is a chat box, but it clears when you leave instances, and if someone types it only shows for a few seconds. It really needs to just be something that is permanent on screen rather than disappearing after 3 seconds
