Ren has said he will stay independent, at least for now. His dream is to have a Netflix series.

Ren is independent and I hope he keeps it that way. His art is too valuable to let someone else mess with it..
Rens upcoming album, Sick Boi, comes out October 13th. Ren currently resides at #1 for presale albums sold in the UK. That’s ahead of artists Ed Sheeran, at #3, and THE ROLLING STONES, at #2.😮 So, I personally think that a record label isn’t what’s needed. I love that Ren is independent. It allows him to have full control over what he releases and which direction he chooses to go. Great reaction to an absolute banger! Cheers!
A major label could certainly net him more cash, but what he gets to do as an independent is bring along and uplift his entire group of people who already work with him. These people don't simply work FOR him, the work WITH him.
I think the music/creating is the main thing for Ren - a record label would clip his wings. The organic way the appreciation of Ren's work has grown is inspiring for for other independent artists to believe there are other ways to get their work out there. 🌻

Hopefully he will stay independent. It’s certainly what he is planning to do atm. He mentioned getting multiple offers and someone being all “make Hi Ren shorter and add a hook” to make it more consumable for people and Ren luckily went fuck no. He has a message and needs the freedom to deliver it his way to make the changes he wants. Just imagine how a label would try to get him to change Suicide because it’s a topic that gets censored everywhere. The point of the song is to battle that so we can talk about it and help people. Luckily I think Ren has reached that point of blowing up now where he is only gonna keep getting bigger and bigger so he can do what he does best without restrictions 🐰🕳️

Great reaction and discussion of whether or not Ren would benefit from the backing of a label. I think he’s fiercely independent and proving that an artist can get far these days without being signed. Loved the 🎭 ❤

Esz makes a good point. At some point, Ren might need the financial depth of a major to bring his vision (like say, a Netflix series?) to life. I really hope it won't need to be like that, but I suspect he may have to make that kind of decision at some point in the next few years.
He's one of the most outragiously talented and consistently engaging musicians of our time. We are SO lucky to have him. His independence from the corporate music business is a core part of what he does and how he works. I really hope he can carry on with that.
Every label under the Sun has tried to sign Ren. He's turned them all down! He's described the experience in an anecdote. Apparently, one of the reps, from a major label, asked if he'd make a version of HI Ren, that was half the length, "radio friendly" and had a beat over the top of it. Ren's response was, predictably, "Hell no!" lol. It really is all about the music with Ren! :)

Ren recently said that labels have been after him these days. He listened to their pitches just for fun, but he doesn’t really see what they can do for him at this point since he doesn’t care about the $$$. He also said that one label said they wanted him to cut Hi Ren down to be shorter and radio friendly. He was like NAH!

Very, VERY few artists under labels get creative expression. NF is in the 1%. He's stayed true to himself and art and the label gives him creative freedom... Same thing possibly with Dax. He toutes being and Independent but has been signed since How To Be A Man... he may still have creative freedom... hopefully he knew how manipulative labels are amd had a good lawyer work out his contract.

Fire track! Masochist is my favourite on SickBoi but this comes second I reckon! I love literally everything he has ever done, he’s my favourite artist ever bar none!

the thing is, Ren musical structures do not follow a commercial format (sausage machine music as I call it).
Also Ren would be forced to produce work that the label "thinks" the people want - they need repeat money making tunes. You can box in Ren....he must remain independent.
But I hope and pray he doesn't burn out...he's working flat out right now!!
Most of his tracks this year were made in 2021/22 in prep for needing treatment this year

The Hunger is spitting it, 10 flow changes - or Losing It, flow changes cause scene changes. My personal fave is Seven Sins though, just goes up and up, use the lyric video.
Digital album price sent as low as he could, just because he wants people to be able to afford his. He also allows people like you guys to react to his music and you make money by reacting. He wants guys like you to listen to his music! He is not bound by labels dictating what they think people will buy. Ren does his own thing then puts it out to the world
Lyrics, beats, production, creates videos for his music, plays instruments, beat boxes. Songs has a wealth of musical knowledge to draw on. Has major health issues and just wants to make great music in all genres and often bends and combines them for our fascination and pleasure! Sick Boi is an album full of hip.hop styles done in his inimitable style
We know that’s one of the reasons why we respect him. He all about the music. We hope one day we have the opportunity to interview him.
