A couple of swipes on the rakers definitely helped. I have a Husky X-Cut chain on my 372, but have been running Oregon EXL chains on most of my other saws (Stihl, Husky & my Mac). I think the EXL has been the best out-of-the-box chain I've run yet. Even better than Stihl RS. Plus, they are only about $20 a pop for a 3/8 20 .050. Nice new saw, BTW! I love the heated handle.
Heated handles!! The caddy of chainsaws!!! Hands and feet are my worst issues out in the woods. I am having trouble keeping them warm while working. You either have expensive gloves that wear out fast but warm hands or you have cheap gloves and freeze. I like the gold link in the chain. Makes things easier by far. Beats a marker.

Since 1981, I have cut wood almost daily. There is nothing like getting a new chain saw. I have owned all the good saws and ran just about every brand. I ran nothing but Husky for years and even bought a 26 h.p. riding mower. this is where I parted with Husky. The last saw I bought from them would not run more than a few hours and then I would have to take it back to the shop. They would fiddle with it and get it to run properly but it would only last a short time. After the warranty ran out, they said I needed a new carburator. At about the same time, the rear axle broke on my riding mower. It still had the original battery. They wouldn't fix this either. I sold all my Husky stuff and went to Echo saws. Echo's large saws are made by Shindaiwa, which is the second best saw I had ever owned. My favorite saw was a Jonsereds 910, 90 cc, but there are no longer any dealers in my area. Since both Husky and Jonsereds are owned by Electroluxe of Sweden, I didn't feel that they would be any better than a Husky as far as dealer support. Don't ever buy a Dolmar, they used to be great saws but they suck now also.
That's interesting. I thought they just routed the exhaust through the handle to heat the grip? Very nice. Congrats on the new saw very nice addition. It's nice that you have such a great shop within a reasonable drive to work with.
You can get heated handlebars and steering wheels for atvs, SxS, snowmobile that work basically the same as the chainsaws. Really nice having a heated steering wheel in your car too for those cold winter mornings.

I've ended up SAWING pieces like you're talking about out of hard, knotty chunks. The grain was just too all over the place, and I would have beat the hell out of myself trying to split it. Heavy, dense chunks that burn forever, just like you said. Power saws exist for a reason, lol. I've also split cookies into sticks. Usually, though, I just bust them up into chunks like Anthony does with his smoker wood. They work nice to maintain the heat when cooking something long duration- like a ginormous baked potato. Otherwise, the coals would be too cool by the time I put the grill screen on, and I'd have to restart the fire. When I get to an ugly crotch, or nasty knot in a big log, I don't bother cutting it into a full size round I have to try and split. Those get cut into thick cookies for chunks. Part of my new "I'm old, not dumb!" philosophy, lol.

@robcortese had i have not walked into farm house hardware I would have never knew this saw exist in have found one without the bar under a thousand because in doing so I can get the bar I want and not have a spare bar I won't use
Great video!! That is an awesome saw. I love chain saws and own at least 10 or more. My preference is to size the saw to the wood. My big Husky only comes out for the big wood! My new favorite for branches up to 2 inches is my battery operated mini chain saw! Wow that couple file passes with the Husky raker file really made a big difference. I'm just now starting to use the Stihl file holder which files 2 teeth plus the raker. Works good but now I've been buying the Chinese chains on Amazon. They are so cheap they are almost disposable and hard to tell the difference with the name brand chains. Cheers from Canada!
I prefer the Stihl chains. They have held up the best of any chains I have ever used. I have some of the cheap chains too and they are fine but you have to sharpen them a lot more frequently and because of that they don't last but its alright I guess when you can buy 2-3 of them for what 1 Stihl cost. Its nice too when cutting dirty wood or I have torn down some garages and bring a saw when I am at it cutting holes in the buildings and all and I don't want a nice new expensive chain for that doesn't even matter if its all that sharp especially if you hit nails or something in there don't want to ruin a good chain.
Speed. That is not a big saw...very average. I do have bigger ones...395 390 592 and a couple 3120s those are big. A 70cc saw can cut twice as much wood in one day as a 50cc saw. Most professional loggers use a 70-90cc saw. I have saws from 30cc to 120 cc the 70cc is the one I would choose every time if I could only have one. But I don't know much I am just a beginner, only 55 years of cutting firewood and I only cut and sell 250 full cords a year.
Love the new Saw. I bet you are glad to be on the wood pile again. I love seeing you cutting away. I can't wait to see all the splitting and stacking again. I had a question, does the wood dry easier stacked or in a pile? And have you decided if you are going to have piles or rows? 💜
YEAH HUSKY CANT WAIT FOR MY PORTED 572 HOW ARE YA OL' BOY, SOUND A LIL' BETTER THAN THAT 500 YOU WERE RUNNIN AT YER BUDDIES. IN THE SMALL WOOD . I LOVE THESE
How many cc’s is that 572? Also, did you find out what was wrong with your other saw? I always love the smell of new equipment. Takes me back to when I was a child . Mmmm, new plastic..
Is it worth it to get an XPG model and not use the heated grips in the warm weather as your main/big saw? My logic is that the heated grips will help your hands feel warm when working logs that are snow covered.
Two questions. How is the handle heated? Does the exhaust get channelled through the handle (I doubt this but wondered!) or does the engine charge up a battery which then heats the handle through resistor wires, like a standard electrical heating element? And, I noticed you haven't put the 16 inch measuring cable tie onto the handle - so how do you know where to cut? I mean, I cut my logs by eye, knowing the size of my stove and I cut where it makes sense on the log - but I'm not selling so don't have to have them all a standard length.
@@InTheWoodyard I will have to look up 'running off the coil' as I don't have any internal combustion engine things at all - so I'm really ignorant what that is - but thanks! And, I get the cutting by eye thing as I seem to know instinctively how big to cut mine.
I like the Xcut chain better than others. Think it holds an edge longer in hard wood. Second would be stihl rs and oregon exl after that. What was wrong with the old saw? Crank seal? Impulse? Jealous of the heated handles for sure!

Unfortunately, the big dealers get the new stuff first because of limited supply (Scaredemic) and the same parts/components are the issue, all manufacturers are having the same problem and it will get worse.

Yup, it is very nice!
The oregon versacut bar is a light option and its half the price of the sugi/husqvarna light bars
Thanks for the info!
I have noticed as well, high rakers. Seems like they have them just a little too high on the longer bars
I think it is a safety thing.
Boss cat may not be friendly, but he's still my favorite!
They are all very different, like my kids!
Love that saw! Hope there are folks that will continue to fight for our freedom.
Yup, the little bit of freedom we still have is being taken away fast.
Very nice! Congrats on the new addition to the lineup. 👍🏻👍🏻GNI
Yup, warm hands are nice!
I'm waiting to see if the light bars hold up for you ! Something about clamping them in a vice to me seems like not a good thing . But that just me .
It seems to be working great so far!
Hi Cris, that big chunk of wood you cut in cookies was that soft maple?
Yes, I think it was.
What are the red boots I see you wear?
Haix chain saw boots...awesome!
Sorry if you mentioned this in a more recent video, but do you notice a weight difference between the G and non-G saws? I’m ordering a 572 soon and being in Michigan, can’t decide if the pound extra is worth lugging around in the non-winter months. Any input appreciated!!
No..as a matter of fact I was unaware of the weight difference I have both...get the G it is AWESOME in the winter!
I was looking at the 572 earlier today at the hardware store now I am considering it alongside the 592 yes I know their both expensive but I like equipment that lasts
@@fireflyraven2760I finally got the 572 XP G and WOW I can’t believe I waited this long to get a “real saw”. Highly recommend thanks to Chris and all his videos using the 572 XP! If not for Chris, I would not have gotten the saw!
@robcortese had i have not walked into farm house hardware I would have never knew this saw exist in have found one without the bar under a thousand because in doing so I can get the bar I want and not have a spare bar I won't use
@robcortese I'll start on the 572 after I get the 7310
As a feller i lime the light bars most of the time it balances the saw
Yup, they are very nice to have!!!
Thanks for watching Scott.
Where did you get that hat I can’t find it anywhere
Modern rentals in Ripon Wisconsin, they will ship on out if you want.
Why such a big saw for the little wood you’re cutting?
Why didnt you run those logs thru the processor
To small for the processor.
What did they say is wrong with your other saw?
Plugged fuel filter, all fixed now!
@@InTheWoodyard phewww! Thought they were going to say it wasn’t workin cause it’s a husqvarna! 😂 jk jk
I tried a Archer chain and those are crap . The metal is inconsistent. I have a few that are so hard. The file bounces off.
Try a stone and rotary grinder.
My favorite channel, you never disappoint!
Thanks Bryan!
I was wondering why you don't run those straight logs through your processor. I enjoy your videos, thank you.
Most of that pile is very small wood and it does not get split in the processor, you will see the processor soon!
Love the new Saw. I bet you are glad to be on the wood pile again. I love seeing you cutting away. I can't wait to see all the splitting and stacking again. I had a question, does the wood dry easier stacked or in a pile? And have you decided if you are going to have piles or rows? 💜
The more wind and sun it can get the better. So yes it will dry in most areas but more wind and sun is good.
🤘This channel has a way making me want things I never knew I wanted.
Haaaa!! You need it all!
Let me know if your selling any of your used ones,& pls autograph it for me!
Ha! Okay, I will do that!....if I sell one!
Screamin pretty good out of the box! Nice.
Yup, nice saw!
Working on the log pile. Just like the good ole days!
Yup, lots to do now!
How do you like the Is Is Huskamara five forty five
I just got a 540 you will see it here soon.
YEAH HUSKY CANT WAIT FOR MY PORTED 572 HOW ARE YA OL' BOY, SOUND A LIL' BETTER THAN THAT 500 YOU WERE RUNNIN AT YER BUDDIES. IN THE SMALL WOOD . I LOVE THESE
Thanks so much for watching! Yup, I like the 572 saws, great all around saws. I have a 592 and she is a screamer!
Morning to the cats and to you ❤
Hello Mr. Wilson!
How does the heater work on the saws. ? Being from the south we have no real need for them.
Runs off the coil
@@kennethcarlson8713 heating element I assume is like what you wrap house hold water lines in the handles??
There is a heating element inside the handles.
How many cc’s is that 572?
Also, did you find out what was wrong with your other saw?
I always love the smell of new equipment. Takes me back to when I was a child . Mmmm, new plastic..
The first number ...5 is the series and the next two are the cc's (or very close) so 72
Is it worth it to get an XPG model and not use the heated grips in the warm weather as your main/big saw? My logic is that the heated grips will help your hands feel warm when working logs that are snow covered.
It can be turned off, and in warm weather I will not run it as much to "save" it for winter.
It is ran off of the coil and it is an electric heater, I just put my cable ties on it, but I can cut mostly by sight to size.
@@InTheWoodyard I will have to look up 'running off the coil' as I don't have any internal combustion engine things at all - so I'm really ignorant what that is - but thanks! And, I get the cutting by eye thing as I seem to know instinctively how big to cut mine.
Nothing like new saw day.. currently waiting on full wrapped Stihl ms661cm.
You may have an airleak from the sound you was describing.
Thanks for the info, but no it was a plugged fuel line.
Do you guess at 16" when you are cutting ?
I can but I do have a device I put on my saws to measure, you will see it again on the channel soon.
Thanks Chris...
You bet!
I like the Xcut chain better than others. Think it holds an edge longer in hard wood. Second would be stihl rs and oregon exl after that. What was wrong with the old saw? Crank seal? Impulse? Jealous of the heated handles for sure!
It was a plugged fuel filter.
@@InTheWoodyard Sweet! Nicer than the alternative.
Nice video Chris. Great addition to the arsenal.
It sure is!
Just curious what they found wrong with saw that you took into have looked at???
A plugged internal fuel filter. All fixed and runs great now.
Good morning Chris!!😀😀
Pretty nice saw!!😀😀
Modern Rental is a great dealer!!
I only own one piece of Husky equipment. It's the the largest weed wacker / pole saw that Husky makes. It's been a really good machine so far. But I still run Stihls because they seem to fit my hands better than the Huskys do. Both are good saws. It's just my preference.
Take care my friend!!😀😀💚💚
Logger Al
Both companies make great stuff, I like the sharpest saw that is running great in my hands...any brand.
The saw vise did you make it or was able to buy it. I got 1 but mine you have to hammer it in to a block of wood or a stump. Nice saw. Nice hat too. Have a great day be safe.
We made it and we will be making more to sell soon.
Great job Chris Good luck with it Thanks for sharing 👍
Thanks!
Great saw and great video , always a pleasure to watch what you’re gonna be up to next👍👍
Glad you enjoyed it, Thanks!!
Love your videos mate , alot of help and tips 👍
I'm going to start selling firewood myself (here in aus), have got a bit of it started already as I can only do a couple hours a day then go to a 10hr work shift lol 😆 but I find it fun and it's some sort of therapy in a way ..
Cheers mate keep making great videos 🍻
Go for it, that is exactly how and why I started too!
Hey what is your normal procedure for breaking in new saws? Maybe a new video idea if don’t have one already.
Some say (Stihl) no more than 1/2 throttle for a few tanks. But the HUSQVARNA dealers all have told me...just cut! And that is what I have done for years and never had a problem.
I dont know where any hasqvarna store are here in Kentucky. I would like to have one of the big xp models. Stihl and Echo is what is in my area. I really liked the video mostly the store view. Thanks
Google it you might need to drive a bit.
Hey Chris, that’s a nice new saw you got there! Hopefully your dealer can fix your other 572xp. What are your plans for your old 576xp? Are you going to have to officially retire it or does it still have a little life left in it? Maybe one one of these days you’ll have to get a 592xpg so you’ll have another saw with heated handles lol. Looks like another good purchase you made! Thanks for the video as always, I make sure to watch every video like I’m supposed to, according to you lol 😂. Keep up the good work and GNI
Yup, the old 572xp had a plugged internal fuel filter, it is all better now! And the old 576 is being sent out for a rebuild by a fella who has a channel on youtube also, you will see it soon. Thanks for watching!
@@InTheWoodyard A Bark Box ?? Them Cats are run for the Hills and never come Back
Does anyone know where I can get a clamp that mounts to a board like Chris has for sharpening his saw on the tailgate. Or at least what is this clamp called. Please and Thank you
I know a guy who might be manufacturing them soon....me. I will let everyone know soon.
Is this a 28” or 24” I may have missed it if you said it
I run mostly 24" on my saws.
After watching your videos lately, I purchased a 562xp mark 2 24” and a 572xpg 28” within two days of each other. Do you want to buy my stihls????!!!!!
About half a pound saved with the 24in lightweight bar.
I is noticeable.
I wish we had a competent Husq. dealer. We have 2 dealers but neither one are worth even stopping in. I called both dealers looking for a 592xp during the summer and one didnt even know what I was talking about and the other one said they'll have to call me back and never did TWICE.
Unfortunately, the big dealers get the new stuff first because of limited supply (Scaredemic) and the same parts/components are the issue, all manufacturers are having the same problem and it will get worse.
