Fernando Santos Pessoa and the Portuguese Oak (Quercus Faginea) HD

Despite having a low profile, Fernando dos Santos Pessoa, forestry engineer and landscape architect, is the man behind the project of the Eco-Botanical Trail. A close friend to the deceased Manuel Gomes Guerreiro, Fernando Pessoa was invited to pay him a tribute for the centenary of his birth, and the best way to do it - he says - is to design a space that will host and protect the Barrocal local flora. The Eco-Botanical trail was co-designed by João Marum and João Rodrigues and also includes recreated traditional stone walls. It is intended to be seen as an "oasis" with several exquisite local species.
