My dad disowning me at 14 and my mom emotionally abandoning me at 16 wrecked havoc on me mentally and not something I even realized until my early 30s. Now I’m 35 and GOD is the only one I seek approval of. But there’s still some trauma I’m working through

“That’s not an honor thing” I’ve always believed this and it’s what God has taught me himself but people don’t talk about this enough. The verse honor thy father and mother, does not mean have blind obedience to them, even your parents do not go above God. And now that I’m older I have boundaries with my parents and treat them with respect but my heart only craves to make my father in heaven proud. ❤
Praise the Lord! For using such a mighty man of God to minister to us the word so we can grow in the spirit. Thank you, Pastor, for your obedience.

Something that is HUGE, when he says confess your faults and truths, you HAVE to use discernment in confession to wise counsel, to people you can trust won’t use your words against you. We can’t just blame the evil of people without going into things eyes wide open. And you know what makes discernment easier, choosing close friends with extreme discernment. It’s why I feel I have to watch my back much less, because I chose wisely first.

In my learning and healing from attachment styles this is on point! 🎯 The fear of man causes us to chase man (anxious) and run away from man (avoidant) which are based in fear of abandonment and rejection. Fear in the One who promises to NEVER leave or forsake us is where love, freedom and healing exist. So grateful! Amen! 🙏🏼

Preston, thanks so much for your message…such a surgery but now I’m so cut open and I realized that the reason of me being single at 43 is because of my fear to men. So now I would like to confess that I’m afraid of rejection, what they would think about me, fear of abandonment, fear of making mistakes. I trust the Lord that this is my first step for healing. Thanks Preston you are such a blessing.

Hello Preston, good topic. I have enjoyed all the podcasts I have listened to. The Holy Spirit has “cut” me a few times.
Quick thought on this podcast….When you mentioned the hypocrisy of Peter, I have always understood that the reason he did not eat with the those folks again was not hypocritical, but that it might cause another believer to stumble.

Does the fear of man result in a distrust of man? I have been rejected by the church and so have developed a large mistrust of people and their intentions leading me to guard myself constantly from getting close to others.
You please expand more about how to honor parents without the fear of man . Thanks !
