This sounds so similar to the way my mom used to sing this song...she didn't have your professional level of breath control etc., but she had a similar vibrato and tone, and used a similar phrasing. She passed away a few years ago...this makes me miss her so much, but it's also like getting to hear her again. Thank you so much.

I don't know why, but 2:53-3:00 gives me such strong feels and nostalgia. It's so hard for me to put my finger on why this hits that artistic itch so well.
I could try to describe it. It gives me mental image of a lamp-lit billiard room at the top of a set of stairs in a house where your friends and cousins are together talking and having fun. I could try to describe what the harmony is doing, and I could try to describe what texture of the piano accompaniment and the vocalist's tone. I could analyze the structure and contour of the phrase. Where is it starting and ending? How much tension is there? I could try to answer all these questions, and I think it would help my musicianship, but I don't think it would quite capture exactly why it sounds SO good. Musical moments like this are few and far between for me, but they're the whole reason I stick with it. Moments of pure artistry like that are so beautiful and humbling to me and I don't think that they'll ever be able to fully be explained.
its the beautifully played major seventh chord and the resolution of the piece landing on the root of the chord that gives it that warmth and nostalgia.

@@pummaandfriends509 It actually isn’t from a Disney movie. The song comes from the 1986 animated movie “An American Tail” which was by Universal Pictures (produced by Steven Spielberg), not by Disney.
It is a common misconception though! Which is partly due to the fact that four months before “An American Tail” was released, Disney released “The Great Mouse Detective” which is also an animated tail about a mouse, hence the confusion people have between the makers of the two movies.
You deserve more recognition for your crystal clear voice and emotion.
