A commoner Amar (Dara Singh) rescues princess Padma (Mumtaz) when she falls off a horse. Soon after the incidence, they fall in love with each other. Padma's father, the king, initially approves of their relationship but orders his soldiers to arrest Amar when he finds out that Amar doesn't have a royal lineage. Meanwhile, the Commander-in-chief takes advantage of the situation to murder the king and forces Padma to marry him. Will Amar ever be able to rescue his love and avenge the king's execution?

I was a teenager when I met Randhawa in Shimla in 1964 or '65 and what a soft spoken gentleman he was. Even though lots of scenes in this movie have been stolen from The Ten Commandments with Charlton Heston but I still enjoyed it watching my favorite Bombay film stars.

Movies used to have only one or two songs in colour, for example in Mughal e Azam.
