I really admire the amount of creative freedom and agency you gave Troy and Laura during their recordings. No strict demands, only gentle, guiding suggestions and ideas; and the open-mindedness to run with their ideas as well. The end-result was phenomenal--one of my favorite pieces from the game.
Thank you for this video, Austin!!

It is always just astonishing to see the sheer amount of hard work you, the soloists, and mixers etc put into every song. It is all so well thought out and complex.

As an RPG gamer, a music educator, and a musical theater enthusiast…….. Stray Gods was everything I’ve ever wanted lol. I love all the behind the scenes content. Fantastic job!

This is actually one of my favorite tracks of the whole game. I felt Oppollo's pain, both in the music and in the stunning performances. The whole game blew my mind with all the work that went into it, and I can't express enough how happy I was to be able to complete it as a blind gamer. Such care was taken with each song, though I suppose I would expect nothing less.

I actually got goosebumps from Troys second take. The game is really good, I started last night and going with the charming route.

That's INSANE, Austin. I played the game this weekend, and what I thought after playing is very much corroborated by this video: there couldn't have been a better team to make this happen (cast included, obviously). It's crazy, you're all SO GOOD. The amount of effort, of thought, of collaboration and of skill needed to create that and end up with such a great product is just astounding. It's actually insane that you all managed this. I love it.
About the bass louder than usual in the mix, I LOVED the decision. It was extremely satisfying hearing the bass come in so strong. My Grace was a lot more Charming than Kickass, but the bass was my favourite instrument to notice come in the arrangement. I just loved it
And please, give us as much behind the scenes as possible for this, it's incredibly interesting and only makes the game a more awesome feat.

Grateful how Austin went to the efforts on documenting everything!. Troy says watch this starts to sing and instant goosebumps.

As someone who isn’t an accomplished musician or composer, seeing the creation process is something I always enjoy. I love witnessing talented people do what they do as if it were like breathing. I do appreciate it must be creatively challenging, so I’m in no way implying it’s “easy”.
Thanks, Austin, for the openness of your creation process and allowing us to experience your music being born.

Holy something. Thank you for the insights. I have no idea how no one's brains exploded in the process, keeping it all together to make 100% sense, no matter what you choose as a player. Applause to everyone involved!!!

I stumbled upon this channel by "mistake", trying to find "Family" (from Assassin's Creed: Syndicate) composition, which was one of my favourite tracks of the series. I found something much more than that. As a hobbyist songwriter/composer/whatever, I call this my biggest YT discovery of the year. So many invaluable interviews and music sheets to refine my own craft with. Now, despite me being occupied for the rest of this year while burning through these videos, please don't stop uploading new ones. Thank You Austin ❤

It's still baffling that a game like this exists. Innovation needs to happen for games to thrive. You guys made it happen. Props to all people involved! Not just the composers and the actors. Anyone!

Thank you so much for making the effort of putting this behind-the-scenes together! Must have been exhausting thinking about recording all those Zoom calls and clips on top of making the game, but I think I speak for everyone when I say that it was absolutely worth it. Your YT channel is a treasure trove for everyone interested in music for film and video games and the passion with which you make music and are open about the process absolutely comes through

The effort put into this game shows so incredibly clearly, I 'm excited to play it through again and again to see some of the different possibilities. I almost said "all of the different possibilities," but I don't think that's even possible lol.

I can say that, during playtesting, I needed both the internal dev documents and many playthroughs to cover everything… and I still didn’t get it all 😅

Absolutely lovely to see the process of this.
I don't know how I missed this game coming out, but seeing the 8bitmusictheory's video on this game really impressed me. This is such a unique project. I can't imagine how much work went into this for the rest of it all. I think there should have been some player input as well for the decisions. I wonder how the seemless transitions into different branches of the music were made? that seems to me like it would be a real challenge
As a side note, I just love that D sharp in "neeeeext thing" it's so heart-wrenching.
    In conclusion, Absolutely amazing work!

Heck I didn't know Troy Baker could sing that well!! I just heard about this game and I'm already seriously impressed. I'm a musical actor and singer myself so this game is right up my alley.

The content I didn't know I was craving! I've listened to this musical far too many times, and yet not enough times, as there are still new things to discover, which is just absolutely mental to me. This song in particular amuses me a little because it's almost like the game itself is telling you, don't pick the same paths over and over! Never the same, the next thing, it's what Calliope would have wanted! Meanwhile Apollo has paths he likes and absolutely would pick his favorite path over and over, which is a mood hahahah

I knew I detected something Yon-ish about this song when I first heard it!
Loved this video, getting to see all the steps of bringing it together was really cool. The amount of work is mind-blowing, but worth it - what a great song! (They all are!)
Any chance of a future release of some of the scratch tracks? I love being able to hear and compare where the songs started from to where they ended up!

What a great behind the scenes on the making of the music for the game. Every time I see the sample song graphs showing the flow of the songs, I get super curious what the design document for this game looked like. Is there a full game song choice chart that you guys are willing to share? I am wrapping up my degree in game design and analyzing the documents for this game development would be fascinating to decipher how you designed the structure for the flow of decisions from start to finish. Loved the game and would love to see more behind the scenes stuff like this from you and the PWL crew.

    Yeeeeeeee!!! Finally some behind-the-scenes 😍
EDIT: Just finished watching. Super cool! Any chance you might release some of the demo tracks someday? It'd be interesting to see how they changed during the recording process. (As an aside from later, how does one even start a mixing career in WWise? I imagine it's not easy to stumble upon, but it looks like lots of fun!)
