All you would be doing is giving the amp a slightly distorted signal, what you need to do is have the volon the amp, hi fi full; to say 90% and then use the mixer(sliders) as the volume .
I love loud music anyway.... I have a 100(ish) watt speaker system..I want it louder but they'll do for now :) Seriously, these lessons are useful, even for me, as my pc program's mixer is the same layout (ish). So, keep it up. :)

The gain controls will be set so the sound never goes into the red (led's on your mixer), so giving you a clear sound.
