I recommend watching the VODs on twitch instead because you get all the pre-show discussion and whatever goes on between vod gang segments. I check in youtube to watch the ones I missed and to post comments
@@AfferbeckBeats unfortunately the majority of time I work but catch the vods as soon as they come up. But yeah totally. I’d love to start catching them. Great suggestion. I figured there would be something before I’d be missing.
1:19:53 it's not like a weekend rental, it's a multi year rent to own contract thing basically to fuck over poor people who couldn't buy a computer any other way.
I fuckin love these old commercial videos guy's. Also side note: watching the videos overtime from 2016 to now, Pop's had grown alot. He went from the quiet guy in the back monitoring the stream to being arguably the funniest member of the Jaboody Squad (no disrespect to the others at all). Keep it up boys and much love to y'all
1:42:17 That outro was a legit BBC computer program that users would record on tape from the TV / radio. Since most of Europe used cassette tapes instead of floppies, it was popular to do this kind of stuff on TV, radio, and even music albums.
Cant recall how long I’ve watched the jaboody boys but it’s been a great time watching them evolve and react to all the nutty shenanigans the world brings us. Thanks for always bringing light to the gloomy days, keep it up!
Just look at him, "I could be selling hamburgers if the wages were 2 dollars more, and competing with the creepy old guy trying to sell 49 breakfast sandwiches to the customers in that 80s McDonalds ad earlier."
"Where did you even put the CD player?" You put them in your Jnco! Along with everything else you owned. And tried to walk real slow so your music didn't skip.
Woah 1:19:23 yall unlocked a deeep memory with this one. This was only a local South Australia ad, and that guy would be in a lot of local ads for years and years.
not only this video funny but also reminds me of old late 90s dotcom business mostly consists of network device companies like cisco, 3com and now defunct nortel will be very nostalgic for the person who start working on IT field since late 90s to early 2000s :)
Aieee! Gorgo! That video is the size of a postage stamp IRL! I played with Quicktime video back in the Mac II days, that was the best they could do. Maybe at best 240x160 resolution on a 640x480 screen on a 10-13" display. You'd need a jeweler's loupe to make it out.
yeah.. one point i put together a computer from parts i got a swap meet- My dad not only didnt think it was possible, im not sure he knew what was even going on somehow. xD
Bare motherboard on up, empty case an all. Not like legos, which are great. But CPU compatibility, placement of memory and amount, and omg.. Obviously bein silly, arentcha? ;D
Back when people also asked if computers came with Unix. A simpler time with peak GUI design. And don't forget the beginning of sweet case mods. The only reason I would want a sound card is so I can put some good speakers up for gaming and hook up the computer to a HiFi for my music library.
Funny thing about AOL, is this was a pre internet service. Then they tried working as an ISP when there was the demand. All in all that free internet service would charge you by the hour, after you used up the free hours as well.
AOL was more like a browser and internet suite that had modems for you to connect to. Everyone got charged, by the minute, for internet then because you were calling something with a modem and tying up a phone line no matter what you connected to. It wasn't 'pre internet' at all.
That XP video is kinda funny because now we have a reason to use live video chat, while back then you didn't want to use it, because you might run into some 300 lb guy smearing mayonnaise on his body.
Fun Time Travel Story: Supposedly someone came from the future to get an IBM computer to fix a powerful computer virus. Haha, lets all laugh now and hopefully not cry later.
We had a Commodore 64 and as for whether you could use your TV or it needed it's own monitor I think it did need a monitor but the crazy thing about the Commodore monitor is that it can also function as a tv! In fact it was the first TV I had in my own room!
Other way around. Commodore had monitors but you could connect it to the TV with an RF modulator. The Commodore monitor only had composite input, no RF.
@9:41: See how that scene is framed? The shitty PC and Mac clones are being given front stage, while the salesman is standing directly in front of the Compaq. And this is why the Amiga failed. Half the time the salesmen would be steering you away from the Amigas, try selling you the expensive Macs, and if you asked where their PCs were, would lead you to the shitty clones, and if you asked about the Amiga again, they'd steer you toward the Atari ST because they could hike the price more easily.
The store in first clip, that was Incredible Universe wasn't it? Thats where i saw and played the original Warcraft game and participated in a Funtastic ( i think that was the name ) event for starfox at one point too. I feel like i must be remembering wrong, but i swear i played it in a arcade machine that you sat in too, even. ...also, the 3Di or 0 whatever with the 'zelda' game. I didnt even attempt to play it, as looking it for long was traumatizing or something- . I was just a child, those monsters. ;; Oh, and it is now Electronic frys of course. ( one near me in wilsonville, anyways ) Also, if you have ever owned a pc with a TURBO button let me know. xD
Depends on the resolution and compression. The dune game from 1991 or 92 had a few minutes from the lynch movie relatively uncompressed but heavily interlaced.
Boomer Boomers were like "Why is my computer slowing down?". And Boomer Xers are like "A $500 repair bill, ma'am! We just have to empty your trashcan, because we're Apple authorized.", "Oh, that's okay then."

No it isn't. New printers come loaded with starter cartridges that have a very low amount of ink or toner.

This is the video i was waiting for and missed. The Computer Chronicles segement was my adolecence and everything the boys said i did. Great stuff.
I’m high as hell watching this and seeing some of these old computers gives me anxiety real bad.
All those old women are dead! And the salesman! If not, the salesman is still dead, inside.

Fredy Mercury is selling computers

Hahaha! @1:12 in, that's David Tennent as the clueless PC user that Clippy is bothering! Doctor Who!
Ahhh. Okay, tech tip, most TVs at the time were 30 FPS, 60 FPS didn't work on a CRT monitor, basically, and those cost as much as a decent video card.
The Innernette!
