I know I'm a bit late to the party, but I am currently an enlisted soldier in Ft. Hood currently working on my Associates Degree in Gen. Studies. I have about 2 and a half years left of my active duty contract, and I was considering going into college ROTC after the military to finish off my Bachelors degree. Since at that time I would be prior service and with a degree, would I just have to do 2 years of ROTC and commission? I want to be in Texas National Guard as a Quatermaster Officer, would you know how competitive that branch is?

My question: the 9/11 GI bill says that you have to be on active duty for 90 days to be eligible for the benefits. My recruiter mentioned that BCT and AIT are active duty. Does the time spent in training initially count as active duty time as described in these various bills?

Im pretty sure doing 4 years of jrotc allows you to bypass the first 2 years, but none of the previous jrotc cadets in my company are MSIII they are all MSI so maybe they remove that or its only at some colleges.
