I don't think the console capabilities are the problem though, it's the fact that the DS has 2 screens, which can fit in 4 players on 1 screen just fine. 4 players on 1 screen already is a bit squished to fit everyone, so 8 would require the board to shrink to uncomfortable amounts just to fit the extra 4. This means that 8 player Puyo is only going to become possibe once stuff like 21:9 screens become *much* more of a commonality, which I doubt is going to be less than a year away.

The release is a fan translation by puyo nexus. It was never released international. That's why it's Satan, instead of dark prince. It's a fan translation.

We're also forgetting that Smash Ultimate, a Switch exclusive console, can handle 8 Players as well.
