So...basic mechanic and board aside, it isn't the royal game of Ur (or at least not one of the reconstructions based upon archeology - I tend to go with the British Museum version by Dr. Finkel), but rather inspired by it. Back in 2019/2020, there was a successful Kickstarter for a game based upon the royal game of Ur called Urgency. It added asymmetry in the form of variable player powers which also acted as a catch-up mechanic in which a player gained more powers when his opponent scored. The Kickstarter had the carboard version as well as very nice deluxe version with a carved wooden board and wooden pieces. I'm interested to see your take on modernizing the game. Will you stick to the pattern and do Egyptian Senet next?
