im a real amouage lover im starting now with my opus collection, i have smelled many perfumes in my perfume journey, and i can say that not many houses can do what amouage does! imitation man, is very special and sophisticated. imitation took me a long time to understand... but i get a very beautiful ambergris combo with castoreum, just like guerlain encense mythique... i appreciate your insight into perfumes and i can say you are one of the few in all of youtube who really speak with passion. greetings capo blanco
As an audiophile that 's lived in downtown Las Vegas this fragrance speaks to me. It was a difficult yet beautiful time of my life. It kind of reminds me of going to extravagant clubs drinking Jagermeister and redbull. We lived similar lives because of the way this fragrance takes me to a time 15 years ago. It should be called Nostalgia Man. Lol I have 3 bottles
This is definitely a fragrance in three stages. I have grown to really love the opening phase, including that artificial, plasticky, vinyl accord - addictive for me. Like you, it's also taken me a lot of wears to "get" this fragrance - but I like it more each time!
I am so glad to see that my findings resonate with your experience with this fragrance, and I agree this Amouage grows on you :). Have a great weekend my friend :).
Just got My 1st Imitation bottle from Amouage - its everything you have described in this video - I thank you for your honesty. Helped me make this blind buy
I was briefly testing a bunch of fragrances at Selfridge last week - a quick first impression from paper strips - and Imitation Man stood out the most. I have to test it again.
I purchased a full bottle in August. It reminded me of my grandparents house in Long Island, NY in the 1980’s. Since my wife didn’t like it and it only gave me a nostalgic feel I returned my bottle. Fast forward 2 months. I recently picked up a 10ml decant because there was something about it that I really liked. I guess like you I needed to give it more time and wearings. I truly enjoy this now. For me it’s not that versatile. For that reason and since my wife still doesn’t like it, my decant should last a long time.
@@ACSmellsGood After some more wearings I have grown to love this scent. There is a freshness about it that is amazing. I wore this to skateboard at a skate park with my son. While I was there I kept getting whiffs of an amazing smell. My parents showed up to watch my son. I thought what I was smelling was my fathers's cologne. I was about to ask him what he was wearing, then I remembered he only wears Aqua Di Gio Profumo. That's when I realized it was me who smelled so good. Imitation Man works great with some body heat. I retract my previous statement about this not being versatile. This again to me has an airy freshness about it and I find it be very versatile now. I just have to be careful with the sprays if used in doors. With that being said my wife still doesn't care for it, but I love it and will be re-purchasing a full bottle. After wearing this more and listening to your review again, I have to say you described this perfect! Thanks for your great review on this fragrance.
Thank you for this review as i have a sample of it and do really like it and intend to get a bottle. I am a great lover of Amouage fragrance and the bottles i own really uplift me when i wear them.
Great to hear Steve, i am the same with Amouages. This one is so different from the latest releases and truly liked how it did a turn around on me . Just out of interest, which Amouages do you own? Btw, since you like complex and deep fragrances like Amouage, i would recommend you another such house called Lubin, if you haven't already tried them.
I own Interlude Man,Epic Man,Lyric Man and Memoir Man. I will most definitely look out for Lubin as it is a house i have had no experience whatsoever.Thank you for the recommendation. @@ACSmellsGood
I did a full research on the house and i have to say that when i saw the bottles i realised i had seen some reviews of fragrance from the house .I am looking forward to trying some of there scents and Galaad seems like a fragrance i would love.@@ACSmellsGood
Very keen to hear your thoughts once you have tried Steven. Gallaad is decent and so are Akkad and Idole EDP. kismet is also worth a try although it is for women but i enjoy it. Its reminiscent of Shalimar EDP.
Saw a video on discontinued amouage fragrances. Sadly Imitation Man and unbelievably Opus VI are on the chopping block. Glad I have them. Opus VII is being rebottled. Be well my friend.
AC! Yes I was shocked. There are others getting axed. Sad. Like seeing books or paintings burned. I remember you saying once you wanted Opus VII since you wanted it and it is supposed to be Christopher Chong's favorite. Just know you'd want it in original bottle and formulation. Good hunting!
@@DixieLiving Ah mate, yeah, it is like burning books. I actually got myself a small decant of Opus 7 and really enjoyed the fragrance. I shall review it in Autumn.
Jean Paul Gaultier has Kokorico and Kokorico by Night. They are at the discounters and may be on the way to discontinued bin. I never hear anything about these but find them rich and full bodied fragrances. Might give them a testing if you ever have the chance. Be well my friend.
Very generous or we'll discuss it when I see you. Could be I'm one of the few who are fond of them! Tomorrow my football team University of Georgia plays University of Alabama for the Conference Championship. Expectations are high!!!
Good luck with the game mate :), hope University of Georgia wins :). Is this game a group stage game ? There are a lot of fans of Kokorico and Fleur d Male which I am one of them as well so no problems reviewing :). I do not have kokorico by night unfortunately.
What a pleasure to see you after such a long time mate :), hope you enjoyed the Sri lanka Series. This one takes a bit of time to get used to but then it is brilliant :).
Thanks, its nice to be remembered :) I have taken some time out of fragrance buying so its nice to be back watching TH-cam reviews. The cricket has been a pleasant suprise (albeit against an average Sri Lanka) looking forward to the Windies tour and the Ashes next year. I shall look to get a sample of this...is this as nice as Dia Man?
I can never forget our interaction regarding the coat of arms in your logo which I thought was Middlesex and you later told me that it was actually Essex and then it meandered into Cricket. I believe you said your name was Rob, if I can remember correctly :). The channel has grown a bit since you last visited but I remember most people who have visited my channel and I have had the pleasure to interact with. This is very different to Dia man and is not as easy ( initially) but after a few wears it opens a new type of world to you. Very enjoyable and very different an definitely better than the recent green releases by Amouage.
You do have a good memory then aha! Indeed the mighty Essex although not so mighty last season. Robs the name (Y) well thats what most people call me anyway :) I'm glad to see you getting the recognition with your views & subs being up, congrats on that! Massive fan of Dia so thought it might be near that :O may try to sample this in the near future...its already at discounters here in the U.K and at £150! I haven't enjoyed the greener releases either although Sunshine is my favourite but if I recall you didnt like that one much?
Thanks for the good wishes Rob, Jury is still out on Sunshine mate. i will spray it again and see. The greener ones like bracken and Beach Hut smell better in cold weather for some reason IMHO. Imitation is a grower and I like it a lot nowadays, its been quite an experience this scent !
Hello, Mr. AC!!! I just got my samples on this yesterday. This one is quite a weird one, in an unpleasant way. I don't see how this reflects New York City nitelife. I thought that this was going to be a playful sweet scent that horny young women would go over.
This one is huge buttery iris bomb on my skin with soft leather, patch and jammy rose.In the abse i don't get violet-only in the opening.Do i like it-sure i do , but is it worth retail -NO WAY.For the price i can get Jubilation XXV + Interlude Man testers....and something else.By the way bought brand new tester bottle of Interlude Man for €95 ... what a steal . SOTD is Cafe Rose by Tom Ford
Never Smelled Cafe Rose mate, I have to give it a sniff. Every time I hear this name it reminds me of Cafe Tuberosa :). The price you paid for Interlude is a massive bargain, I wish I get that someday :). I second you thoughts on the price of Imitation but I do not the buttery Iris you mention. In fact to me this is seriously well blended and nothing takes center stage for me. I really enjoyed the way this fragrance boomeranged my first impression about itself.

A very intelligent fragrance breakdown. Well done !
Thank you for your kind words my friend, i am glad you enjoyed the review :).
Your dissection of this fragrance really helped me understand it. Thank you. Great review as always.
I am so glad to hear that, its one of the most creative Amouages out there.

Wow great to hear your story Kyle. This one sure is a very different scent, I am sure you will try it you will enjoy it.
Thank you for the details and great video. In my opinion, Amouage continues to be a great house that offers high quality fragrances.
Thank you James, and I am totally with you, I own about 7 of these and must say, they are very dear to me :)
Best description of the fragrance!

Excellent review KC. I bought this fragrance and my wife who normally don't like fragrances complimented me for this.
Thank you Sanjay. Great to know that you got a compliment on this one... I am just bowled over by the richness and complexity of this fragrance :).

Thank you Peter, I was very pleasantly surprise by the quality and complexity of this fragrance as you can tell from the review. Well worth trying.

Looking forward to trying this one. I'm a bit afraid of the violet, but I do love rose and this sounds great to me
Its a very creative Amouage so do test it. I enjoyed it a lot but still haven't bought a full bottle.
