I can voutch for this. Chanting a mantra without Guru diksha and chanting a mantra after proper diksha from a Guru has huge difference. I have been chanting Guru mantra for last 16 years. It has been registered in my subconscious mind. Whenever I experience any nightmare I chant it automatically in my dream. Counting of japa is also very important with proper Sankalpa. I feel connected with my Gurudev and my Ishtadev Sri Hari wherever I chant it. It gives me courage, fighting spirit, protection and peace. ❤

@@Nalinaksha_Nilotpal Your karma will lead you to your Guru. Pary to your Ishtadev to help you finding your Guru. Untill that you can consider Krishna or Shiva as your Gurudev as per your spiritual inclination.
I was instructed to take diksha in my dream by a saint who came to my home, entered into my room and asked me why are you not taking diksha? That is why nothing is happening. Go and take diksha. After that I consulated with Guru of my maternal grandfather. He suggested me to take diksha from Bharat Sevashram Sangha because most of our family members had taken diksha from there. And also I was inspired by the ideology and the teaching of Bharat Sevashram Sangha.

There is far too much unnecessary gatekeeping in Hinduism.
I don't think so. I think such things began because the gurus "decided" to gatekeep for various reasons not because sanatan dharma tells you to. Gupt mantras, tantric mantras should not be chanted casually but we can worship the form of God we feel most connected to. Because our dharma is what we are. It's always in us.

But Generally the most powerful mantra is the mantra for you to practice chant is the naam mantra of your ishta devata ( e.g - Hare Krishna mahanaam of Sri Krishna, Sri Gajanan Jai Gajanan Jai Jai Gajanan morya naam of Lord Ganesha, Sri Ram jai ram naam etc)
But for meditation chant Om is the greatest mantra for all time
it is savithri mantra there is nothing called gayathri mantra . aditya hrudayam u can read it was read by shri rama chandra . both are related to suryanarayana
