    Now, I will say that you did an excellent job bringing this little girl back to life once again, and my congratulations for doing so, you need to wear your steel toed boots when your mowing your grass though.

    Lol.. where are you from brother? I’m in NW NC. I enjoyed your narration very much. 😂 You had me going man. Got the gift of gab. I restore the 300 and 400 JD’s. But that specific Bolens model has always peaked my interest. Just stumbled across the video. Hope she’s still running well.

    Cool machine! The power steering is a great feature. Hope to see more. I find that it helps greatly to lower the RPMs when maneuvering in tight areas, it reduces the pedal response by a lot and makes it less jumpy. Keep us posted!

    Dude look at the shine on that thing. Mint. I would choose that machine over the new shit they sell down at the Lowes any day.

      I agree with you on that. The older machinery, when it's been maintained properly and taken care of will last a lifetime, not like this new garbage zero turn go cart junk that is out there these days.

    Diesel problem may be can be solved with adjustment of carburetor L, H and idle. Nice tractor and 740 :)

    Tip of the day: Don't work or mow barefoot. Mow FULL throttle for quality of cut and proper cooling Afterfire or dieseling can be helped by adjusting the idle to close off the butterfly, As you shut off the key pull the choke out to flood the unit. To restart 1/3 throttle to clear the engine.

    Great video! Awesome project. watching you work on your Bolens garden tractor has given me some ideas about a Bolens tractor that i have seen, i might be able to get it free from the person as it has sat in a yard/meadow for many, many, Many years. :)

    That mower deck, after the blades were taken off and sharpened, you should have treated it to a coat of black rust olem paint to keep it from rusting underneath it, and the grass acid from eating the deck metal away.

    hello, I have a Bolens 1055, but it consumes a lot of gas, do you know what the problem is or is it normal

  • @AliceC993

    I'm not super familiar with small engines, are flat twins common on this type of machinery? Most mowers I see are either a single thumper or a V-twin of some description.

    • @bakedbeansgarage116
      @bakedbeansgarage116 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Kinda, but not really, v-twins are the go-to nowadays, but in the '70s, the Kohler twins were the standard for fitting more power in a chassis originally meant for a single jingle, like these large frame Bolens, gravely 8000s and a few John Deeres. So yeah, kinda standard, but Kohler was the only one making them. Kohler has also switched to making v-twins, which are a common option for swaps, but a healthy k-series will always outlast anything modern!

    • @justinstearns9723
      @justinstearns9723 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Opposed twins were pretty common once they came along, 70s all the way into the early 2000s even. Kohler, Onan, and even B&S had versions of them. Once OHV engines started becoming more commonplace most manufacturers went to OHV v twins. They’re more fuel efficient and compact. But the opposed twins sound better IMO.
