Floor Jansen: "Tim wrote this song for his brother, who is in a wheelchair but is not letting it discourage him. What an incredible message! This song has become a personal favorite of mine! Raise your hands! 🙌🏻".
Excellent reaction. I fell in love with the Dutch culture as well. Went to the Netherlands a few years ago, stayed for a few months and decided it was time to come home.... Got on the bus felt the sadness of leaving and when I got to Brussels Belgium decided I couldn't leave just yet so I caught a bus back and stayed for a couple more months. It's such a beautiful place full of gracious beautiful people. When I did end up leaving it was one of my saddest times ever. I recommend everybody visit the Netherlands. Probably a dumb story but I felt like telling it. PEACE
@@krakon6565 You come from Monaco and are poor? As I read your original comment, you should try to emigrate to the Netherlands. Sometimes following the heart is just that "simple".
I totally agree with you. I came to this show for Floor, I discovered the other singers. They are all good. Only music, no competition. This show is great
I’m glad you’re all in on this, Valerie. After the Beste Zangers clips come out I look forward to your reactions as well. Floor did well on this show, like she would, but I’ve also become a fan of some of the others. Great stuff.
Tim said he never cries. His new record is titled "Lions never Cry". At the end he said "goddammit Floor", because it brought so tears to his eyes. This rendition also went to #1 in the Itunes charts in the Netherlands. Just like the Shallow rendition. Floor just scheduled 6 shows around the Netherlands and all of them sold out in 1 day. The venues are between 1000-3000 capacity, but she is looking into booking more shows. I think her plan to get some attention from her home country is working like a charm. How can anyone with ears and a heart not be moved by the beauty that is Floor's amazing vocal ability. I love your emphasis on how she adds emotional impact to her singing. I totally agree. I am fascinated just to watch the small movements with her hands and body, as well as the facial expressions. Great reaction Valerie!
As a /composer/arranger/musician (keyboards, drums, percussions, vocals) and as a Dutchman I truly have to say thank you for your sweet and professional in-depth and on-point reviews of these songs. I have to say cheers to that! *raises his glass*
Valerie, I LOVE your reaction to this. You're the only reactor to "raise your hands" when she says to. I want to thank you for getting me into this show. I could've easily just wait for your reactions to floor, but your enthusiasm for everything about the show made me check out Denise's channel. This was weeks ago. Thank you for your love of music.
I agree with you, Floor brought me to this show and i love it and the singers, it's format and of course Floor! I was married to a Dutchman for 10 years. They do have a lovely culture. Thanks for your reactions, I am enjoying them.
Floor's mission to get more attention in her home country for her as well as Nightwish and symphonic metal in general was a full blown success in regards to her personal popularity. 2 number 1 hits in the Dutch i-Tunes charts, millions of views on YT, attention from other Dutch tv-programs, her name being forwarded as the new Dutch entry for the Eurovion Song Contest 2020 in Rotterdam, a surprise mini solo tour in 6 Dutch venues sold out within 24 hours with more dates to come. Need I say more? Whether she'll succeed in getting more attention for Nightwish and symphonic metal remains to be seen but I'm hopefull. Together with you Valerie I will be mournfull when at the end of this week Beste Zangers 2019 will come to an end. The show itself again is a big favorit to win a highly acclaimed tv award this year and most certainly will go into its 13th season next year which is a victory for music itself if you ask me. But man, how will I dearly miss those formidable and sympathetic 2019 contestants!
When you read comments on the facebookpage of 'Beste zangers' you will see that already a lot of people now listened to 'Ghost love score' and other Nightwish songs. :-) So that part is a succes. Dutch radio...? Lets' be fair: It's run by a bunch of people with very limited taste in music. Metal?, jazz?, blues?, folk, hardrock?, Indie? They rather stay in their 'save' pop-hiphop world...
That is not an answer. She could have joined because she loved the concept and just wanted to participate alongside the other artists. Getting known could still be the last thing on her mind...
Beautiful song, deep lyric's messege, and Floor sung it perfectly with her powerful interpretation. I'm glad and proud to have her as my favorite singer.
I've been following Nightwish since 2005. Tarja, Anette Olzon passed by and suddenly she appears on TH-cam Floor Jansen and at the same moment I realized how good a singer she is.
This song, like the last one has hit No 1 in the Dutch charts. On the back of this show Floor is doing a 6 date tour of the Netherlands in early 2020. The tickets sold out in hours and she is now trying to arrange more dates. Just fantastic such a superb singer is getting the recognision she truly deserves.
I was looking forward to your reaction, Valerie! I clicked like before the video got more than 3 seconds in. It's such a beautiful scene at the end, with all of them raising their hands. I see them all expressing their respect and admiration for her. Here she is, closing out this week, where before the show kicked off, she was basically unknown, and I don't know if anyone had much expectation from the show's metal singer (first-ever, even?). But now they all appreciate and adore her so much. She's such a gift.
Many many many thanks Valerie for your such honest, beautiful, intelligent, heart-felt response to this such original, entertaining musical show-piece !!! Really going to miss this show & your beautiful reactions !! But Wait ! I Hear A New Album Is In Process!!!
Floor is amazing, her voice is incredible.....for me the moment of this performance is when Tim looks at the ground at the end and mutters “damn it Floor” as his emotions have been put through the ringer.... Nightwish Forever....
i too am following Beste Zangers and YES ..all these singers got my attention and what i really love to see is by how our Goddess Floor has Floored all the other singers with her insane talents ..the expressions on their faces are priceless ...love this show
I love your reaction videos Valerie, you always add that little extra with your passion and your knowledge, and your overly obvious love for singing :) And ofc, i love that you started watching the full shows, and fell in love with it, like so many of us have falling in love with the show and its concept. (there is no such thing as perfect television, but this comes darn close!) Dear Floor scored yet another #1 on Itunes with this song, she announced 6 concerts on Friday, and on Saturday all tickets were sold out! (they are now working hard on planning extra shows) Finally her international fame, has become national fame as well (funny, its usually the other way around!) and its well deserved, she is after all, one of the best we have. This song she sang is very powerful in message and emotion, it can mean a million different things, for a million different people, but in all cases, it is a story of emancipation, personal strength, pride and love,... its a power song. And now, on to the duets, the final episode of this season... dang.. those 8 weeks flew by... Ty for the video Valerie, and ty for always mentioning Denise Hofs, for the work she done that makes it possible for non-dutch, to watch this show, she's such a sweetheart for doing that for us.
I've only been in the Netherlands once but I really got that feeling of a very open and friendly people. I enjoyed my stay immensely and I'd love to go there again.
Floor is the kind of vocalist that can touch your heart and soul with her emotional songs. I dare say if you are one of the few with a heart of stone she'll chip it as well!!!! Love your reviews as I really appreciate just how much work and effort goes into each song presentation. We only get to experience the final product but the effort and work even with gifted ability is enormous and makes her even more appreciated for her stage presentation. The 6 professionals sitting around clearly agree with your assessment as they all reacted to the song even Henk who is usually the reserved one of the group. I will be very sorry to see this show come to an end. Nothing like it here in the states. A show where there is no competition, but rather respect and appreciation for each singers contributions and the others showing that with their own interpretation of the important songs that the guest has. The show has been entertaining and uplifting and all these pros including Floor have done a great job as they clearly like one another now that they have gotten to know one another. The Dutch culture is great, but mayo on fries ...not going there sorry (LOL)!!!! Floor has also shown even her most dis-heart fans the grace, humility, and class we knew she had but really showed it off here. She did another thank you video to the fans for making this #1 on Dutch I-Tunes again...she loves her fans and even though it was short, the "thank you" video shows so much of her character, one to be admired and appreciated. Great review and explanation as always. Shout out to Denise for the translation and I for one will be playing these shows often especially after the show is gone!!!
I've listened to this about 5 times now and it always makes me cry. I was born with spina bifida and hydrocephalus, both conditions are highly dangerous and most babies who are born with it won't make it, I had an older brother who also had it but he only lived nine months, I'm 31 years old now and my mom always calls me her miracle baby, the story behind this song hits deeply on the feels, the way Floor sings to it made me an emotional wrack the first time.
I was waiting for this reaction, I loved this performance too! I am a fan of Floor since her time in After Forever, when I used to listen to symphonic metal bands, and I am glad she's getting all the attention she deserves :D And you are so sweet! ^_^ Thank you!
I have never heard such an amazing voice! I grew up with Ann and Nancy always loving the female rock voice and Floor just gives me that same intensity and power as well as the sweet.
I just love this song, both the original by Akkerman and Floors explosive cover. I was really impressed by Samantha stepping out of her comfort zone in the same episode. Samantha really brings a nice pop-rock edge I haven't heard from her before. But then again all of the artists on the show are just amazing. The duet episode aired yesterday and everyone was just amazing.
Wonderful reaction. I got "we were here" vibes (Greatest show on earth) during the raise your hands part . What a powerful inspiring song that was. I felt energized and a bit emotional after watching it.
Hi Valerie, I have been waiting for your reaction and here you are!!! It feels like I want to share my own excitement with a good friend who feels the same way as I do....you didn’t disappoint!🌷🌷🌷
Hi Valerie, thank you for that reaction, for your explanations and your statements. I fall in love with this show, like you described what made you happy about that. And yes, all this singers are great in their unique way. I like your reactions and subscribed :) Thorsten from Germany
I've enjoyed every single minute of the show. Floor is amazing! And Tim, he is such a sweet man. Love him. I'll miss them dearly after tonight. But I have found some new singers to follow now.
Mary Aker I’d love to see last season with Davina Michelle. She’s a TH-cam cover artist like Emma is in this season. Her story is really cool, she did a cover of a Pink song and Pink acknowledged how talented she was, which got her on the public eye, and this year she got to open for Pink at The Hague during Pinks world tour.
I've been watching them all after watching it for Floor, as well. Love them all, but, Henk has really blown me away. Floor and Henk are doing Phantom of the Opera this weekend!
I love how you called Floor regal. Often they call her a Valkyrie, but I like to call her one of the Muses. Caliope or Euterpe, which Muse do you think is visiting us through Floor?
Thank you, Valerie, for going on this journey. :-) This is such a nice song with a strong message. And this time, Floor really let it all out. I think she probably had to hold herself back from starting to headbang on there. There were no undercurrents, which I mentioned last time, under the surface in the river this time around. Everybody seemed to be "flooded" with emotions as she was belting it out. And then that transition in the end - to get it just right, phew! I suspect that people do not want to fully open their mouths during belting, because they may be embarassed as you are really showing the inside of your mouth to everybody who is watching - TEETH are really on show! Have a great day!
Great reaction Valerie! Someone on another channel raised an interesting point that really got me thinking and I’d love to hear your thoughts. Floor has an uncanny ability to truly impact her audience with her voice. What part does “harmonics” play in that. Many great technical singers are pleasant to listen to but lack that connection or impact that Floor has. Could it be the way in which she oscillates certain tones that is her magic. Sorry to geek out but the scientist in me can help myself. Any thoughts?
Tone, color of voice (timbre), and all those vocal factors (whatever they actually are) are certainly part of it. But passion, being fully committed to the performance, and all the subtleties of her physical charisma, all of that (and more) contribute to how the song is communicated. But all of those things won't work like they do if the real talent is there and isn't developed. And some people are just born to do what they're doing; in other words, they're gifted. In her case, all of those apply. I think it's important to note, too, that she's healthy, and she maintains that health. She doesn't smoke or do drugs, as far as I can tell, and never had a problem with those things. And she doesn't live the rock-and-roll party life. She and her family live on a small farm, and they live closer to nature than probably many of us do. Those things are key, as well, in my understanding.
The concert from Floor Jansen and Henk Poort as special guest would be first on october 18th, then changed into december 13th but will be now on.. May 30th.. so more then half a year later. But still looking forward to it! Hopefully it is then aloud to sing (the audience)
The show has now been taken to Germany too. In the first season besides German singers, another great Dutch singer participates: Ilse DeLange. She's not Floor, but she can move people with her voice too. Her style and songs lean towards country music. www.vox.de/videos/ilse-delange-singt-allen-aus-der-seele-5ec3dcef2ba7fa0f79795122.html
Not only Tim was blown away by Floors performance, i guess. :'D Yes, that really was fantastic! And, by the way: oh, how i like that little distortions sometimes...
I'm not an emotional guy. I don't cry easily. Not because I don't want to, it's just not something I'm good at. However, the right song can get to me and reduce me to a messy heap of snot and tears. Floor does this almost everytime she sings. No matter where I am, at work, on the train or at home, I'll have to fight back the tears. It's without a doubt the best feeling I can have.
I would love to see your reaction to Tim Akkerman performing Nemo for Floor Jansen on this show. Nemo is a Nightwish song, very gutsy move on his part, but he really kills it!
You should do Samantha on this episode she sang in English ..Yes they are all awesome and .Floor and the band are doing sold out concerts in the Netherlands in January ..
The Belgian (in Flemish) version Liefde Voor Muziek has had some interesting people on over the years - this year Ilse De Lange, who has has been a favorite singer of mine since the late 90s, and in the 2018 season Sharon Den Adel (from Within Temptation, another symphonic metal band who has been going, like Nightwish, since the mid 1990s). Both are excellent singers...
@@rog2224 ok, maybe you know but here i go; floor jansen, sharon den adel, anneke van giersbergen, simone simons, charlotte wessels, zora cock, caro emerald, anouk...just to name a few ... i know more but the list gets too long...hit me up if you want more but google and YT these girls first...
I know that "let bygones be bygones". I was also a fan of WT and Sharon den Adel, but came to dislike her in 2001. I was "friends" with Mark Janasen, Sander Gommans from her old band After Forever from 1999-2002 (I mainly spoke with Mark, Sander and Floor). I used to be able to go backstage and I was a member on their guest list during that period. But when they were a double headliner with Within Temptation in Hardenberg, I was told I wasn't welcome backstage because Sharon had ordered the venue staff and band roadies; no friends and family allowed backstage. Sander and Floor met me outside the dressing room.
And fyi, Floor did the song during the Christmas metal symphony concerts in 2008 and 2013 respectively, in 2008 with Russel Allen (Symphony X) and in 2013 with Jaocim Cans (hammerfall). Let's no forget her renditions of the NW version.
I manage to watch some of the episodes of Best singers, Tim actually new Floor pre Nightwish days. The other singers certainly got Floored by Floor,s talent.
Raise your hands if you love Denise and her translations !!!
She is the winner! :-)

I Valerie. Floor killed the song and she looks stunning. The band has rocked the whole show.
Love Floor and love the song.
Floor so often hits you on such an emotional level. Hence the ever present FLOORGASM she always brings to the experience.
The duets will blow you away.....
I've enjoyed every single minute of the show. Floor is amazing! And Tim, he is such a sweet man. Love him. I'll miss them dearly after tonight. But I have found some new singers to follow now.
I've been waiting for DAYS FOR THIS ONE, VALERIE! Lmao. Thanks for finally doing it though.
I'd been waiting for this reaction!
Denise has said she might do previous seasons when she's done with the current one. I for one am hoping she does.
Oh my gosh, I would love that and future seasons! It's such a wonderful show.
@@Iamthecrazyone yes davina was/is great...also check out the opera singer who does an eminem cover live on the show, it will blow your mind!
got it for you; th-cam.com/video/8YyuIkVSx-8/w-d-xo.html
pietje bell Thank you, that was certainly not what I expected, but wow haha
I've been watching them all after watching it for Floor, as well. Love them all, but, Henk has really blown me away.
Floor and Henk are doing Phantom of the Opera this weekend!
It's amazing to see how Floor embodies these songs, even once she may never have sung before.
Well said. Elegant and regal. and a great voice. What more do you need?
I love how you called Floor regal.
Often they call her a Valkyrie, but I like to call her one of the Muses. Caliope or Euterpe, which Muse do you think is visiting us through Floor?
Love the reaction, thanks!
Por favor, jamás se deba parar una canción mientras canta FLOOR JANSEN!!!!! JAMÁS!!!!!
Love your comments. Yes, Floor is a truly great communicator in her performances. She goes straight to your heart and soul. Amazing.
nice reaction and explain a lot about the quality of Floor, she is imagine
Everyone in that show was looking at Floor the way we look at her all the time:)
Great reaction. Thanks😊
denise is considering translating also the 2017 and 2018 season
Thanks for the comments of the netherlands... its really how we do it and its good someone really sees that.
Tim did a particularly good job with bring him home in the first show.
Yes he did. I really liked it!
In the final 'Duets' episode, she is going to sing "Phantom of the Opera' with Henk. This will blow up the internet!!

I love seeing how you like the show. Have you seen Floor on 'De tiende van Tijl'? mustsee.
Is there a link?
@@Pepenez search "O mio babbino caro"
Not only Tim was blown away by Floors performance, i guess. :'D
Yes, that really was fantastic! And, by the way: oh, how i like that little distortions sometimes...
And then there is Floor................... Thank you!
Floor Jansen just did it again, as always..
Next week Floor and Henk Phantom Of The Opera!!
We were here :)
So Fantastic!!! 🤘🤘❤️🤘🤘
Please check Tim's version of Nightwish' Nemo in an earlier episode.
Just seen trailer for the duet singing this weekend and Floor is dueting with Henke singing the Poet and the Pendulum. Should be quite awesome :)
Wake up!!!!
Beste zangers phantom of the opera with henk and floor.
The best i ever heard
It would be awesome to see your reaction on Phantom of The Opera with Floor jansen & Henk Poort.
Keith Procter As a new fan of Samantha’s, I fully support this. She rocked the hell out of Just the Way I Do.
Both are excellent singers...
and both dutch ;)

You gotta watch next saturday: Floor Jansen and Henk Poort in duet 'Phantom of the Opera'
Henk played phantom in the dutch version of the musical.
And fyi, Floor did the song during the Christmas metal symphony concerts in 2008 and 2013 respectively, in 2008 with Russel Allen (Symphony X) and in 2013 with Jaocim Cans (hammerfall). Let's no forget her renditions of the NW version.
Love your hair 🌻💁🏻♀️🌻
Music connect us a round the globe 👍👍👍
Saturday will Floor and Henk sing, The phantom of the opera, in a duet.
Its for sure now.
I manage to watch some of the episodes of Best singers, Tim actually new Floor pre Nightwish days. The other singers certainly got Floored by Floor,s talent.
There will come one more episode, there she will sing The Phantom Of The Opera with Henk Poort..... I heared the sneak peak, sounds superb
The Great Floor.
