  • So I wanted to add another fish to my saltwater tank and I wanted it to be a small reef fish that would work well in my biocube. So I went with a small fish called a neon dottyback that will stay pretty small but has a ton of color.

I kept hearing that you can’t have multiple dottybacks in a tank, due to aggression.
In my 75g, I have 3 Neon Dottybacks & 1 Friedmani. The only aggression was the first 4 days, but all live together harmoniously for 3 months now.

Actually, the neon Doddie back is a Romer. They Rome the tank all over the place they do not hide.

I'm new to your channel and I was thinking about buying a neon dotty back today but I don't have a lid for my reef tank. Im trying to figure out if Neon Dottys are known to jump out of the tank.

I have a white 15 gallon white swuval tank. I want to get that blackish blacklight look. I have all the rgb colors and even a nice white blue light. Would I need a black background tank to achieve that look?

sounds like you have the fluval freshwater tank that comes with a freshwater light. get one of the fluval marine lights for that UV/fluorescent look...

Hey do you quarantine any of your fish or do they just go right in the tank you want to put them in? Also if you don’t quarantine what’s your success rate on survival if you don’t mind me asking?

Not usually just because most all of my fish come from the store I work at so usually I’ve let them sit there for a week or so to make sure they’re doing alright and eating good before I get them.

Also this particular fish was a captive raised fish from ORA so I knew that it would be fine

@@PFFishing Hey definitely don’t want to take up the whole comment section but I am kind of new to the quarantine process for fish and wanted to get your advice. If you were to quarantine your fish what would be your process before adding them to your main display tank? I’ve been doing some different things I’ve watched on TH-cam for my process but I’m always interested in any advice I can get. I just know it can get expensive if you end up having to treat a 75 gallon tank or larger for some fish illnesses and I’m trying to avoid those issues as much as possible. Thanks for any advice you might be able to give me! Also thanks for putting out your videos I’m really enjoying your content keep it up!

@@jde383 well quarantining is good but just remember that something can still go wrong with a fish even if you do it. I wouldn’t complicate it too much but just have a small tank that’s bare bottom, good filter and make sure it has a good dose of aquarium salt in it if it’s freshwater, if it’s saltwater then I would do a dose of copper in it. Probably leave the fish in it 4-6 weeks and get them eating good and you’re probably ok to move them
