Glad to see you posting!!!! I've been watching your channel for the past 2 years or so. I finally applied to the UC's last month as a transfer. Very excited to see where I end up. Thank you for providing CC content. It's so helpful and I know many people appreciate the content as much as I do.
Hey Hailey! I just wanted to thank you so much for your videos. I was a one year transfer student applying to the UC's last fall and I got into almost every UC I applied to, including UCB and UCLA, in part because of your videos. The information with assist, AP credits, understanding pre major reqs, IGETC, TAP and TAG, all helped me succeed when I would've been overlooked by counselors who don't share a lot of this information. You and your channel are amazing resources for any community college student who's stressing out about transferring, knowing their path through community college, and just needing a little extra support. Thank you so much for your help along the way. You're amazing!
Thanks for this! I’m trying to maintain at least a 3.7 for UCLA/Berkeley. The required for TAG for my major is 3.4 so I’m hoping 3.7 will put me above up there.
But aren't you guaranteed admission as long as you finish with a 3.4? But yeah, definitely aim for a higher GPA! I earned a 3.75 at ASU during my 2 years there. I'm happy I did good but I could have did better if I just tried a little harder.
By the time I finish community college I should be touching close to a 4.0 but I'm going to csun because their business program is fantastic on a price to academic scale. Keep up the great work and great financial choice going to community before university 👍🏼
I love how when I am looking at colleges in CA I found you, I'm a international student who has just moved to the U.S for high school senior year and has been struggling with trying to understand college applications and such. I visited my aunt for Christmas break and was able to tour SDSU and UCSD which is two amazing school and I'm seriously thinking of going to a Community College in San Diego, and you've guide me through literally everything meanwhile most adults can't. Thank you very much.
I'm glad you found the video helpful! SDSU and UCSD are both amazing schools, but CC is something I always advocate for. Have you decided what you'll do after high school?
Thank you so much ! I’ve been binge watching all your videos . I’m a non traditional CC student with plans to transfer to CSU north ridge. Your videos help a lot !
@@cluhbin6757 nice we will soon become matadors. What are you planning on majoring in? I’m currently enrolled an Glendale community college and Los Angeles trade tech .
Glad your still posting hailey. UCLA is my dream school and I’m very interesting in getting my PhD as a psych major. I’ll be at Cal state Fullerton for about 2 more years and working on my graduate admissions for UCLA so hopefully I can get in by 2024. Enjoyed your tutorials. Hope your well at Memphis. :)
A good way to guarantee your entry into a PhD program in Psychology is to get some hands on experience with research. The CSU Psychology curriculum is not heavy on research preparation. A good gpa and the prerequisite courses will get you in, but already having been a research assistant will make it so you have better options on which professors you can work with. Good luck out there.
@@yymaddiesworlds7651 hi. Transfer courses are not weighted-even if you are in the honors college. I went to community college for 1 year. Took 6-7 classes each semester (summer and winter semesters too) I had enough AP credits as well.
@Hailey Dollar You have great information on transferring to a UC for community college students in CA. I just applied to 4 UC schools last month UCLA, UC Berkeley, UCSD and UCR. I am applying as an Environmental Science major except Cal. I am applying as an Environmental Engineer
Thank you for sharing. I really really like UCSB, so I hope I can transfer to UCSB in the fall of 2024. Your information is very helpful to me. I am worried and under pressure to get a high GPA.
Hi! I'm glad you found it helpful. The UC application, is holistic, so the GPA is one small component. There is a lot that goes into it. Don't get hung up on achieving a certain number.

Thank you! I also wanted to say Thank you so much for your videos! I started watching them 2 years and to navigate community college. I recently got into Berkeley!!!! You’ve inspired me to also start my own channel :) You’re videos were so important to me as a first gen!!!
Hi Carl, I cannot comment on chances of admissions as I do not work for the admissions committee at any school. Of course it is preferable to not have Ws, but the application review is holistic so the only way to find out is to apply and see what happens.
Thank you for this video, I'm sure it will help those that will soon transfer. I wish I had a video like this while at CC. I have transferred to a Cal State because of my circumstances but I would of gone to UCSB. Over all, everything you discussed is what students have to factor in while they figure out where they want to apply. My GPA was 3.4, but i feel like my volunteer work really helped me stand out. I hope those watching this video will look in to volunteer opportunities which in essence is free training. Take care Hailey!
I have a more personal question, I heard that it's a lot harder to transfer from other schools than transferring from community colleges from California. What do you think about transferring from other schools instead of a community college?
Hi Spencer, CCC students are given priority consideration over all other transfer applicants since CCC was designed for the purpose of transferring. It is not impossible to transfer from other 4 year or out of state schools , but the odds are much slimmer.
I have a 3.7 currently (only 1 B, rest of my classes are As) but I'm currently getting Bs in two of the classes I'm taking right now so I hope it doesn't impact my GPA too much and that I do well on my finals (RIP lol). I won't be applying for probably a couple more years, and I'm probably going to be transferring community colleges due to a move, so I'll just see what the future holds.
As I said in the video, there's more to applications (and life!) than your GPA. Just put your best foot forward and whatever will be will be. Good luck to you!
