Great video! Lego and dinosaurs, both my first toys and earliest scientific interest I had as a child. I have also seen Mary Anning's fossils up close at the British Natural History Museum just earlier this year.
I had a feeling you'd talk about Mary Anning! Maybe for chemistry you'll talk about Rosalind Franklin? And for astronomers you'll talk about Annie Jump Cannon?
Maddie Moate For a female astronomer you could also have Jocelyn Bell Burnell.. she's a very recent one and as far as I am aware she is still alive. She did radio astronomy and was the scientist who discovered pulsars, after being told time and time again that the pulses in the data she was collecting were just errors.
Georges Cuvier had already established the concept of extinction around the turn of the 19th century. The concept of deep time had been established long before that. It was a disturbing idea, but accepted by the geologists of the day. Most of these men were clergymen. They were creationists, of course, but not in the Ussherian sense. They didn't believe that the Earth was 6,000 years old or anything like that. Rather, they believed in different "stages" of creation to correspond with the differing fossils they found in various layers of strata. Evolution by means of natural selection wasn't understood until "On the Origin of Species" was published in 1859.
May I make a request and could you do a Video on New Zealand :) tell the world why they should come here, or shouldn't depending on your view. Thanks Maddie
5:47 Ha! I wonder how many times "weird spares" have been left over during the fossil reconstruction of prehistoric organisms. Maybe T-Rex actually had normal sized arms after all. Glad you are giving recognition to the women of science!
Maddie Moate yeah shout out to bees, they're like the coolest insect ever :) i might be misremembering, but don't they code information into their honeycombs or something
You could genuinley have a TV Show, you can make literally anything engaging and entertaining, you forget that you are even learning anything!
Wonderful video! Female heroes are so important and mostly overlooked, so I really liked watching this!
Thank you, glad you liked it x
I've always loved Mary Anning because she made so many of the first fossil discoveries, from ichthyosaurs to dinosaurs.

Brilliant! I never appreciated them at the NHM till I made this video. I might have to go back and pay them a visit.
Beautifully presented, loved this, kept me engaged and you got a new subscriber :D
Mary Schwietzer would be a good example of a modern lady paleontologist who's done some groundbreaking work. And on T.rex, I believe.
I LOVE lego!
Plz do not reply.
I loved this Maddie!! More please!

I'll look into Annie Cannon! Thanks for the suggestion :-)

Yet another incredible idea!
Cheers Tom!
Still don't know why you don't have more subscribers! Fascinating and fun :)
Why can't girls/women be more like Maddie?? :(((
Thinking out loud: When they invent cloning I wonder if she'll give me a lock of her hair?

I love this video!
Maddie Moate Brilliant and genius....
I love u maddie
You should become a teacher, your way cooler at teaching than teachers usually teach
LEGO! It sounded like Mary had a very interesting life, it's that level of passion for something that drives us all. :)
Just because most people started playing with Lego when they were about 20 years younger than you are doesn't mean you're late to the party ;)
Oh no, I've been a fan of lego for years and years! It's just Lego Research Institute came out aaaages ago so i'm a bit late getting it!
Maddie Moate What about K-Nex?
I love that lego so much, where did you found it?
The Lego Shop!
I feel like she probably had to do multiple takes when she was pronouncing some of the words lol
is there anything that makes you as happy as lego dinosaurs? :-D
Honey bees, Milk bottles (the sweets) and my viewers spotting the retro Kellogg's football bowl in my previous video and shouting it out :-)
Maddie Moate I think I have to get some of these Milk bottles somehow^^
Maddie Moate yeah shout out to bees, they're like the coolest insect ever :) i might be misremembering, but don't they code information into their honeycombs or something
Maddie Moate The traditional floury Milk bottles right? Not the odd tasting new ones?
Ben Allen absolutely the floury ones. The new ones are so disappointing.
Isn't this Maddie from cebeebies
Its a ictyosaurs
Ingenious idea, if only I could have thought of that...Never mind. I did create my own video of Mary Anning please do check it out.
You're so beautiful, Maddie! And I really like your accent.
