    I ride at the same altitudes here in Utah. My bike is a 2013 with the 2016 upgraded cylinder and head. I run a 35 pilot , KP2 needle and 160 main for my jetting. Although I did pull my plug after setting that jetting and it looked good, as I'm sure you know, conditions are all over the place in the winter so it's hard to say what's good. Air temps and snow density play a huge role. My EGT has never gone over 1250. While riding level terrain, my EGT is consistently running about 1050. When I have to climb over a peak it will spike into the 1100s and very rarely get to 1250 for just an instant. It sounds like I'm in a good range. I am very curious what needle and position you are running and what main jet?

      @@TrevynNewpher do it, your good at it! I’ve been running my 300 for 3 season now and trying to convert my Dirtbike crew, but when I start telling them about the modifications it gets overwhelming. This video is articulated perfectly. Next time they ask I’m going to send them this.

    How do you think a Riot 3 pro 129" would perform? I have a 09 300 xc that runs similar to yours. I've rebuilt it a few times and it consistently slays the dunes and out climbs most of my buddies newer 450's & TPI'S.. I've been wanting to join those buddies on the snow and just came across a good deal on a Riot 3. Think imma do it..

    I'm excited to build my ktm 2022 300xcw tpi and riot build. Bought it last year at the end of the season and held off building it for this year. Are the pipe wraps pretty helpful?

  • @aharrington3
    @aharrington3 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    your edits are super impressive and this one is helpful Do you find you have to do a lot of clutching with the 300 to keep it in the power? For your set up is transition into the power band abrupt? Just really interested in 2 stroke set up and wondering about these aspects.

    • @TrevynNewpher
      @TrevynNewpher  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I don’t find that I’m clutching a ton more than my 450. I do shift more. If you aren’t as good with shifting you probably would be slipping and popping the clutch more for sure. Power is more explosive than a four stroke though my 300 seems to pull off the bottom better than other 300s I’ve ridden. .

    @yzr7854 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    How capable is it on the really deep days compared to a 450 with a 129, rode hahns peak and wolf creek this winter on a sled but I think I’m going to switch to a bike for next season.

    • @TrevynNewpher
      @TrevynNewpher  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It is lighter and holds its own. I was often leading climbs on deep days over my buddies with 450s and longer tracks. A good rider can make a big difference. That being said I had an ARO3 last winter kn a 450 as well. That setup definitely will out climb, but it’s not near as fun IMO. I snowchecked two Riot3 kits for this winter. I’ll be putting one on this 300.

    Love the build!! How long have you been running with no engine jacket? Still no issues on that front? What outside temps is that ideal for? I have ordered a 2022 xc 300 TPI and a 2022 Riot 120, so looking forward to trying it out.

    • @TrevynNewpher
      @TrevynNewpher  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      All winter. Temps are consistently 90-150 i find. I actually put a fan on it in the spring when the snow wasn’t as deep as temps were climbing over 150° more consistently. Forks held up all winter though I did end up putting a trio on it for the firmer spring snow as I wasn’t confident jumping and dropping it without the added support. Congrats on the kit and bike. Most versatile summer/winter setup I think. I haven’t tried a tpi in the snow yet. I hear they are more sensitive to temps. I’ll be holding onto this carb bike for some time I think.
