- I've had this dude for a solid two years and his nose always urked me, it never lit up properly. So, i decided to fix it.
Not too in depth, i just wanted to show a little bit of the process online since i cant seem to find others opening their Rudolphs. I figured it would be nice to see. - บันเทิง

11 months later i am fully aware thanks to lots of helpful people that the original bulb was a BLINKER BULB! i understand that nothing was wrong with it, but i hated the way it blinked lmfao
The original was a blinker bulb. When they run for a while, they blink. Ive seen a couple before.
Rudolph glows brighter.
I admire the mouth being string controlled.
Such a simple mechanic that controls a complicated piece.....
Just got my Rudolph working. His mouth doesn't move which is fine, except it makes a buzzing sound. You press his ear to get him going. His nose still glows according to my wonderful Grandmother. His antlers are little stubby horn things. Anyway, I still think Rudolph was a success. And when his nose stops glowing, I still have the audio.

@@woob771 only thing is I’m trying to figure out why his mouth is supposed to move at times where he’s not speaking most notably where he says you could even say it glows and then there is a space there where his mouth is supposed to move but there are no words being said
I still love this video, and Lately I've been listening to videos of just 1998 rudolphs that just sing.

@Sega Starbits mouth doesn’t move but the nose lights up but as a blind person that really doesn’t bother me and I buy things like that I’m only doing it for the audio. So if the nose were to stop it wouldn’t really phase me
@Sega Starbits to tell you the truth everything in my house either sings or talks I have a Animated ducks I have seven fish including the very rare boogie bass and I’m hoping to one day be able to find the animated singing Henry the eighth but to tell you the truth I don’t know if I will ever find one of those because they are so rare and all I can find are listings that have sold. And I have a singing Christmas tree that sings and I have a Christmas fish that broke and I have a singing Christmas lamp post
@Sega Starbits it’s Chris the singing tree. I’m also trying to find a 2004/5 pop along Pooh Bear it’s by fisher price I could be wrong. Anyway I saw that on a video one time in 2012 and actually I saw one in a store and I regret not getting it but back then I hated those types of things that were animated.

Oh my God, you fixed him
By the looks of it, that's how it was supposed to be because I believe the original is a blinker bulb (or whatever you call them). When they warm up they start blinking, which would cause it to blink weird on Rudolph.
strange, a lot of those I see on youtube either blink like mine did or the beginning, or blink how it did in the end. my guess was that some of them were burning out(mine included), but either way im happy

My Douglas Fir has a similar issue with light in the eye, but getting the eyecap off is a difficult task with the brittle plastic.

The original light was one of those that starts blinking when it heats up, it's not bad. Why would they even use in the first place? No idea.
i've been told many times it was a blinker bulb and i am now informed lOL, i just didnt like how it didn't light up every time his mouth opened, so i fixed it :)
My Rudolph is in shipping. Just out of curiocity where do you push to get him singing? Some say it's his ear, others are saying paw/hand
id say your best bet is the ear, but if it doesnt work try one of his paws. it's usually on the right for both buttons depending on which kind you got.
It said in the listing that it was a 1998 Rudolph. I really like the recording that they used for 1998 till like 2004 Rudolph. Almost sounds like a girl singing and it is accompanied by the Gene Autry recording from the 1940s.

How do you disassemble this rudolph?
There may be other ways, but I just cut open the seam on the head and peeled the fur forward over the face, pushed the nose out of the fabric and opened the plastic head up

there are plenty for sale on ebay for around 20 to 30 dollars, and some go for lower if you bid on them! i got the most results for the kind that doesnt talk when i searched "1998 gemmy rudolph." good luck finding one!

Hey I just ordered a 1998 gemmy rudolph on ebay. His mouth doesn't move but his nose lights up. Being blind I don't need the light-up nose

What size bulb dose he use?
Mini bulbs are the name. Specifically Christmas type. You can find that sort of light on most Christmas/Halloween decorations, they look like little candle sticks with a pointed end. You should be able to pull them out of their socket by gently tugging at the lip where it slots in. It works the same way in Rudolph's nose as well; just pop it in and it'll work fine
