Iowa here. I live in a college town (Iowa State) and I’d say this one is VERRRYYY midwestern but in my town there are lots of bricks and grand entries.

How do you decide who lives in the house? ( I’m from Europe so I have no clue about sororities)
Basically you just say you want to live in lol. The house fist 35 girls and typically new members live first and then up the chain, so seniors typically don't live in to make room for the new members.

AOII has the most chapters nationwide and in Canada! but we aren't at some schools, which would explain that hahah.

I’m going to ohio state this fall and I can’t wait!! :) I LOVE your vids so much 💗 and am thinking about rushing! When you’re in a sorority do you have to live in the sorority house all three years or do you have the option to move out and get an apartment eventually?
GO BUCKS!! Congrats!!! Every sorority here has different live in requirements. Some don't have any at all, some have a 1 year or 2 year requirement, others have all leadership positions live in the house. It just depends on the chapter you join. :)

This is genuinely super interesting to me cause Greek life isn’t a thing over here in Australia . The closest thing we have it is the residential colleges at the big state universities. They’re basically sororities, just without the traditional bit. We still do all the sisterhood/ brotherhood thing and philo though. It’s kinda hard to explain
Greek Life in America is definitely a weird one to say the least lol.

I just joined at NSU for the Kappa Chi chapter and I love seeing the different houses! Because we don’t get to live in our houses on campus ( because of some laws)

How much do you generally spend each semester for dues? Could you give me an idea on the cost? I’m considering trying to join a sorority when I go to college but I’m still unsure
So every sorority costs different amounts and that changes at every school you attend and it depends on if you live in the house or not and for how long etc. so there are a lot of factors going into that, but I would honestly budget AT LEAST 10,000 a year if you're living in your chapter house and maybe half of that if you're not? But that is not guaranteed as it changes with every chapter and depending on your school etc. I hope that helps!!

Marissa Nicole Honestly even if I don’t join one it’s still nice to know that I have the option :). One of my best friends live in Columbus and they got me onto thinking about it and it really does sound like a great university! My only concern is that I’ll have a lot of student debt because I live in California and I’d be paying out of state tuition
oh yeah :/ out of state tuition is awful. Depending on your SAT/ACT scores you may get the National Buckeye Scholarship that will bring your tuition to in state rate!! You can look into that here: undergrad.osu.edu/cost-and-aid/merit-based-scholarships

a little is a new member who is just being initiated, everyone at some point was a little to a big, who helps her through the process and shows her the ropes of the sorority. So I have a big who helped me and a year later I became a big to two littles who I help! it's like a mentor program through the sorority.

Ok this isn’t my individual account, I’m actually a girl. I’ve always been really interested in joining a sorority when I get to college, but I don’t want to get involved in anything like drugs, partying, drinking etc. I’ve heard a lot that sororities are full of all of that stuff. Is that true? I want to go to OSU so I figured you’re a good person to ask.
I will be honest, these are social sororities, so there are girls who party and drink and may do drugs, but there are also tons of girls who don't!!! you can find a place and friends within a sorority that doesn't do those things all the time. My sorority always has 2 events going on at the same time if possible, for example: if we have a social that night (a party with a frat or something) then there will also be a movie night or family dinner somewhere for the people who don't like that scene and don't want to go to that party. so it is possible to join a sorority who isn't about all of that, but do know it is in greek life.

when you join a sorority you get a big sister kind of thing (then you are the little) that big is like a mentor to you through your time in the sorority. They teach you everything you need to know and are just always there for you. Once you have been in for a year then you get your little to be a mentor to! But in my case, I got two!

typically sorority houses are expensive 😓 They differ depending on the school and chapter and how new the house is, how many girls live in the house, etc. but they can be $1,000+ per month per person!

It depends on the sorority, but typically its pretty comparable, you're just living with people you actually like with better meals rather than in the dorms lol.

What are your littles?
when you're in a sorority you get a big sister who is like your mentor to you through your process. then you get to become a big sister and get a little (or in my case 2 littles!) who you can mentor through their new member process!

When you’re in a sorority you become a big and get a little (or in my case, twins, so I have 2 littles) you’re basically a mentor to them through their time in the sorority. You help them and teach them the ways lol.
