  • Welcome to the Military X channel. The Northrop Grumman X-47B marked a significant milestone in the U.S. Navy's efforts to create the first unmanned aerial vehicle capable of operating from aircraft carriers. Following the promising Pegasus project in the early 2000s, the Navy collaborated with industry experts to develop an extraordinary engineering achievement-a drone with the capabilities of a strike fighter. Throughout the 2010s, the X-47B underwent numerous modifications and a series of rigorous tests, which not only confirmed the concept's viability but also showcased the machine's reliability. With expectations soaring, it was now crucial to determine whether this cutting-edge technology could be fully utilized or if the advanced UAV was simply ahead of its time.

I still don't fully understand why the Navy abandoned this program. Does the US Navy currently operate any "drone" aircraft from carriers?
