Hey man, I understand not wanting to take time off the gym! I had the same worries. Good news is that it really won't take you out of the gym for long. I was cleared to do some light lifting after a couple weeks after my laparoscopic hysto. ( as long as you are healing well ). It will definitely take away the cramping and all that not so fun stuff :) I'd say recovery from the hysto was way easier than top surgery. Good luck man!
I'm pre-T, but I had a hysto last year for other medical reasons. Definitely knocked me on my back for a while, I was off work for six weeks. It was a rough recovery, but absolutely worth it.
husband just had his done at the beginning of December, he's recovery was great, and he's back at the gym. It was also really hard for him to stay away from the gym but he did it and now we don't have to worry about any of those cancers and he's body is no longer have a hormone fight.
I had mine October 2015 as a pre-req for phallo. I had it done non-invasively as you described - scars are minimal, pain was minimal. Worst part was bloating, soreness and coming in at # 1 as the worst part in my experience - the bleeding. My dr cleared me to lift after 8 weeks as to not risk opening anything up. It was wonderful to have the peace of mind any cramping in that area was simply a stomachache rather than possible spotting once those internal organs were removed. Best of luck man on your journey to this surgery :)
They say it increases your risk slightly because all that lining is building up and the added hormones. But then, cancer is one of those things where, even if you live the healthiest life possible and have no family history, you could still get it. It's an illness of chance, which is one of the reasons why it's so scary. So don't let cancer stop you from enjoying your manliness!
Good luck to you!! Please take it easy and listen to the dr when they tell you about your healing period. I always bounced back quickly after my other lap surgeries for Endometriosis but a hysterectomy is no joke! I won't scare you with my story, but just prepare to take it slow and pamper yourself. I'm sure Jenny will take great care of you! Best wishes 😊
you are a lucky guy. I was not able to go on T as I had already gotten Ovarian Cancer prior to my transition (that never happened). As a result of cancer I had a bilateral mastectomy and hysto so I was "lucky": in that respect. I actually had a recurrence of ovarian cancer even though I had had my hysto. Just trying to get through life as I am. Not easy but I am who I am and I can;'t transition without a huge risk of getting sick again. I am so happy for you and a little jealous. I love that you are helping others by sharing your story.
My mam just had a full hysterectomy a month ago (for cancer) & had it keyhole (much easier to say than the word you used). She was up & about straight away but she's as tough as old boots. You will *definitely* require rest from heavy duty stuff like the gym. Good luck though & hope you get the surgery you want. x
I had a partial hysto when I was 25, due to having adenomyosis. I had to talk my doctors into doing it back then. 15 years ago, wow. I had laparoscopic surgery and that was super awesome. I had to take about 6 weeks for recovery but walking was highly encouraged. Doing this surgery was the best thing I did, because I felt like a slave to my body.
There's also the vaginal full hysterectomy. They take out all your reproductive organs through the vagina and then it's optional to get a vaginectomy at the same time as well. For those wanting bottom surgery, it's easier that way. :)
I have my consultation for a laparoscopic hystorectomy Jan 30th. About a year ago today I had a laparoscopic cholecystectomy (gallbladder removal). I'm curious to see how this will effect my hystorectomy procedure. I am looking forward to proceeding in this great journey of transitioning, and hopefully ultimately be satisfied. Thanks for putting this vid out. You covered a lot of topics, and we're very informative! 👍
Yes it so much better now than when my mom had one 25 years ago. They do what Ayden says go through the belly button and it burns the organs off therefore sealing it while burning off the unwanted parts. No more cutting and therefore a lot less pain, blood and recovery time!
Thanks for this video Aydian I was always curious about what your thoughts were on hystos. The whole cancer thing is really rampent I've heard so many people spread that around particularly on TH-cam. To be honest it scared the hell out of me and was one of the hardest things I had to think about before I started T. Thanks for sharing this with us!
It's a risk we all take when we start medically transitioning. There aren't enough long term studies specifically on ftms, every doctor I have ever met has told me this. Obviously that will change in the future. Also, Southern Comfort (2001) about Robert Eads is actually a really great documentary, one of my personal favorites.
when I had my hysterectomy the doctor did it vaginally. great procedure, no scars. the procedure is called a vaginal hysterectomy. The recovery time is much faster, I was able to return to work after 2 weeks, I work in food service.
My mom just had a full hysto on the 10th. So only 2 weeks ago. Her recovery has made me hopeful. Pain was significant the first 5 or so days but by day 9 she was already up doing chores again. Now, on day 14 she's doing pretty great. Still has to hold her vag when she sneezes (lol) but otherwise she's walking faster and stairs are becoming less and less of a challenge. Looking forward to it. Haha
I just got my hysterectomy in October. Why? Almost 2 years on T (I made 2 years December 30th, woohoo) and I was STILL getting my monthly cycle, even irregularly bleeding for multiple weeks out of the month! Crazy! I was so mad and depressed that it still hadn't gone away. Recovery is not bad at all. It's just waiting to get to the gym is what was hard. I could walk the next day, and took a walk down my street after two days. It definitely wasn't bad for me.
This video was so perfectly timed thank you so much! I'm heading in for a hysto some time in the coming months. I also get cramps and they've become super painful. I'm not looking forward to another surgery, as having ovaries and a uterus never really caused me any dysphoria, but I also just want to get it over with.
Plan on being off of work for at least 6 weeks and no gym after your surgery. The good news is that you are fit and recovery will go fast. That bad news is that this type of surgery is painful. Just ask women who have had it.
I had a hysto before my transition started due to masses found on my ovaries. They were unable to do it with the smaller incisions and the robot. I had to have a larger incision which I learned is similar to a c-section incision. Recovery once I was home took maybe 2-3 weeks because I was determined to get back on my feet! There were some other things that happened with my surgery as well. I obviously don't know your medical history but I would say that since you are still young and physically active that recovery will be easier than if you were perhaps older or not as active. If you have any other questions I'd be more than happy to help!!
hi Aidan (sorry I don't think I spelled your name correctly..) The term you used to have the hysterectomy through the scope vs. full "old school" incisions was the correct term lol. My mother had a hysterectomy back in late 1993 after my younger sister was born. She obviously had to have hers removed for health reasons though. I'm not sure if back then they did it through a scope or only the big insicions...but I do know it is considered a pretty big operation with plenty of recovery time and pain and discomfort. I do have a question..it just kind of came to me as I was watching this...Well...when you have had a hysterectomy, you go into menopause earlier in life then those who still have not had one. I might (and I'm sure will) sound pretty unaware....but will menopause effect you at all?? What I mean is...because your taking testosterone will that stop you from going into menopause later in life? Or is it still something you will eventually have to deal with?? I don't know if the health laws as in what is approved and what is not is different in the USA vs Canada (I know here I'm Canada our FDA laws are a hell of a lot more strict and will *not* allow a lot of things the USA does allow. But just out of curiosity. ..In America, say for example a woman went to the doctor who's already had children and just said to the doctor "I want to have a hysterectomy". but there was no health reasons why she *"NEEDS"* to have this operation. She just simply decided she wanted to. Is she allowed to?
I had my full hysto almost three years ago mine had to be cut by my pubic line because I was having appendix issues also but I managed to walk around and work out by the third week :) but all it depends on the person that's what my doctor told me. I had mine done at 22 a week after my nephew was born and I'm the youngest patient my doctor ever had a hysto done. I wasn't on t yet and I suppose to take it easy for 8 weeks cause I was young but I started at 3 weeks walk around bit more and work out slowly. Now I'm almost three years post op and doing great can't hardly see the scar :)
hey Aydian, I've been on T almost 3 years and I just had top surgery but I've never been to a gynocologist. Is this something I should do? Also thanks for clearing up that myth, I was concerned about it.
I got a hysto august 30, 2016, HRT dr took my blood and i go back next week to see my levels and if they need to be adjusted............3 little cuts, and through your belly button, bad cramps for a few days, a little bleeding........good luck...........
I'm 15 but endometerial cancer is on both sides. which is a agressive form of cancer that affects the lining of the uterus. So we want to get a hysto but we don't know when cause no one really can preform a hysto on a person this young.
I had my hysterectomy done this time last year. I had been on Testosterone for a year and a half. The doctor told me they found a tumor lucky for me it was benign but it was scary to hear that had grown. Not saying it was because of the testosterone or anything just that the timing of it all was strange.
I just had a hysterectomy the 6th!! my Drs called me Ayden pronouns ECT...now I'll be able get hormones. since I'm not gna take the estrogen required of me. I had the one that the robots take it out. u will be out 6 weeks not doing shit.
It doesn't surprise me that the cancer myth might come from what happened to Robert Eads in Sothern Comfort. I watched that documentary a few times (have it in my dvd collection too) but somehow didn't make that connection to the myth. Well, in the documentary, it's him and a few other trans people talking about how little doctors and society cared about what it's like for trans people, what we go through medically and socially and how bad the support was there back then. Sadly, it doesn't surprise me that what became of Robert's tragic fate was a myth instead of some actual research... They didn't figure out why he got cancer because no doctor wanted to go near him, except from apparently the one who diagnosed him. But that it was the testosterone that caused it? Not very likely. But I do get that fear that you have in a way too, but for me it's probably cause I watched that documentary before I even started my transition, and I wasn't sure what to make of it. That was back in 2010, so not very long ago.
I want a hysto bad, I feel like the dosage I'm on is waaay too low but my Dr. said I am in range. I have been on a high dose before and it felt great so I know the difference. I've been on for 12 months consistent and I still menstruate. Would a hysto help?
Here in Canada, I can get Hysterectomy within a very short period so I will always have that choice. But to be honest, I don’t have that dysphoria. I'm a trans guy who wants to go on T but has no real desire for a hysterectomy so this made me feel better! Thank you for addressing it :)
The sooner you get it done, the sooner you get back to the gym and continuing the healthy lifestyle your leading!
@Ash Wolf getting breast removal surgery has no health complications.
Glad to know I'm not the only one who still experiences this cramping. Thank you Aydian!

Jaiden Gomez can we stop t after hysto surgery
Ovarian cancer can be from many things... I had it from Talcum Powder usage

TOP TEN TRANS DUDE MYTHS lol you should do it
Get the surgery done !!
Where can I get your LionsFears tshirts from ??

My fiancee works as a surgical tech and was telling me if/when i get it done to do it laparoscopically and it has minimal scaring.
7:57 Omg! My mom said that and I was scared! I thought I was the only one.
They can also do a hysterectomy via the vaginal canal so there is no outward scar. And recovery is much quicker.
What are your advise for how to bind correctly to avoid health issues
You make me feel okay about being trans. I’ve always hated myself for it.
I'm 15 but endometerial cancer is on both sides. which is a agressive form of cancer that affects the lining of the uterus. So we want to get a hysto but we don't know when cause no one really can preform a hysto on a person this young.
get a full hysto, since your covered, my insurance covered me too. beth isreal hospital in nyc.......great dr. hospital
That's great. i used Dr. Zoey Rodiquez (spelling her last name wrong!
I think it's just increased chance of cancer, similar to how women on birth control should stop being on the pill after 35

what's the plan for the Obama care that covers it? I need to sign up for that. I need to get a hysterectomy but I can't afford it.
I would wait if you ever want phallo or meto cause then they can do it all at once and it's cheaper.
Goth Bi Trans Guy I think he has said in previous videos he doesn't want phallo? idk though
Here in Canada, I can get Hysterectomy within a very short period so I will always have that choice. But to be honest, I don’t have that dysphoria. It doesn’t mean I will just say no to it.. but I am just waiting for science to catch up. I am really hoping that later on in the future, science will discover a way for extracting DNA from an egg and replacing it with a DNA in a sperm. That’s the only reason why I am not getting that procedure done as of this moment.
I've been on T for six years and my reproductive organs are just fine.
That's a really weird rumor.
Hey bro. Have you experienced any cramps from the past years?
Do you have plans to save your eggs for future kids? Genuinely curious.
Tabby G He'd have to go off testosterone for a while and get his period back (and often also be treated with a estrogen dosage) in order to do that, so if he haven't before he started T it'll be a long process. (at least that's what it's like in Sweden mind you)
peapspablo if it is so, I'd like a source for that, because I have never heard that before! :)
Also I should mention that my doctor told me it will be possible to go off T and everything will go back to how its biologically wired, so period will come back, possibillity to bear children will come back. As long as you dont do anything with the fetility parts within the body, everything will go back to how it was originally and you will be able to bear children.
Now that I think of it though your argument falls if you look at Thomas Beatie and his life.
peapspablo same here, though I plan on saving eggs beforehand to not have to go off T for X amount of months just to save them later.
I'm just not convinced because your argument doesn't make sense when there are trans guys that get pregnant even though they are on T, as well as Thomas who had children after 5 years on T.
The human body is quite amazing (though the amizingness in this case is unwanted for transguys ofc)
Not sure where you got your information from, but as long as you dont remove all the reproductive "things" T wont make you completely sterile, and everything will be back if you chose to stop T / detransition.
If you do have a source of your information however, I'd love to read it because I am genuinely curious!
peapspablo Wait... how so? There's not nearly enough researching indicating that you can go sterile? There's actually groups online of FTMs who manage to have kids years after being on T and then going off it.
I think you were a bit misinformed.
How often do you inject .4cc?
I had a vaginal hysto it was much easier than when I had my tubes tied where they did a bikini line cut. btw If your rocker ever needs recaning that is what I do.
will you still get hot flashes?
allsupergirl There is always a possibility but I suspect since he has been on T for so long that the usual side effects of a hysto will be minimal.
Why do you want a hysterectomy if you're not going to get cancer
my mom believes I'll get cancer if i were to start testosterone so I'll show her this and maybe it'll change her views
Isaiah Rodriguez my dad also think i'll get cancer if i go on T
you lowered your alpha male levels
How do you feel about taking away your ability to have biological kids? That's what I've been thinking about for myself.
All he has to do is freeze his eggs.
