I had a second hand mk 1 Chopper after owning a yellow Chipper. Mine was purple but had red forks when I got it as my dad had replaced the bent ones it came with. You’re bringing out latent seventies childhood trauma and you’ll be hearing from my solicitor! 😂😂
Your solicitor may have had a chopper in the seventies as well... I'll await his letters 😧🚴👍. Cracking story about your dad replacing the forks, that's what it's about, reliving the memories
I've just bought a back wheel.. and a mudguard for it, proper pleased. Santa bought me a magnet fishing kit, I'll be taking the RSW magnet fishing, those racks will be handy to hold all the gear
@dealermike1331 I used to watch some magnet fishing videos on TH-cam and always fancied giving it a try. The channel was called White Welly if you know it? He has 2 channels, one for magnet fishing and one for restoring 1980s bmx's 🙂
A couple of questions if I may ask them , did Raleigh make a taller or higher seated version of the chopper be it mk1 or mk2 , having had a mark 1 myself when I was a boy I can’t remember if they did a taller version, have you ever considered making an electric version of a chopper, thanks for your time take care .
Hello.. good question, they made the 'tall frame' MK1, the also did HBR's (high back rest) sissy bars on the mk1. I would love to put an electric or some kind of motor in a cheap mk3 chopper . Genuinely I would love to build one of them. Stat tuned, it might happen sooner than I think
@@dealermike1331 I think injustice had the normal one judging by my old photos , thought I did hear somebody mention about a tall frame version but thought I misheard them but with what you said they actually did make one , was it only restricted to the Mk1, they didn’t make a Mk 2 tall frame version then ?
Yeah, just the mark 1. They made crossovers, mk1 used MK2 bars, the mk2 used mk1 bars.. the brown chopper at the beginning of this video is a MK2 crossover.. a MK2 frame but with mk1 sissy and handle bars... Hope this helps
@@dealermike1331 So the crossover was the tall frame with the Mk2 bars or have I got that wrong, having a mark 1 myself can’t remember them doing a taller frame version probably because I was too busy riding my one , did the tall frame version use the same wheel and it was just the frame was taller?
@@KavanOBrien tall frame was not used on mk2. Crossover was standard mk1 frame with later bars, sissy and a few other bits. The only taller mk2 frame was the sprint GT with racer bars, Google them to see the longer head tube.
Looks cold mike in your garden hence your gloves the frame looks good on that mk2 though leave it has it has dontvstrip that patina away it's only original once mate
It was cold... Not cold enough for long trousers though 😔.. definitely I'll be keeping that paint, it needs a good T cut and polish but yes, it has lovely patina.. looking forward to drilling out those sissy bar remains.. to add, happy retirement.. I've got another 7 years yet
Thanks mike its goodbye NHS and hello raleigh bikes cant wait mike to get stuck in and just have all the time in the world to enjoy them just got a Tuff burner original with yellow skyway its a bit rough though and im bidding on a mk2 chopper in red
Nice hedge find🤣Enjoyed the video, shame about the sissy bar. Look forward to seeing it in working order in the future.
Nice video like always! 🎉

I'm sure you'll get it looking nice & ratty before long. 😊 Your RSW is a mk3. If you do any local rideouts let me know and I'll bring one of mine. 😃
