This is so weird to watch because this is exactly where I live and I have seen these places so many times and for him to be in downtown Lake Orion that just amazes me because that is where my hometown is
Love the history of this place! Is it as busy in this part of Oakland County as it is by Rochester Hills or Bloomfield Hills? It doesnt seem so congested here like other places in metro Detroit. Looks like a beautiful place to live, if it is indeed quieter than most places in metro Detroit.
Lake Orion is quite nice, but it can get a little busy too especially during rush hour. A lot of people live out in the Lake Orion and Oxford area, so a lot of people travel on M-24. It is quieter than Rochester Hills though which makes it quite pleasant. Thanks for watching!
Nice little community. The playground area looked really nice for kids. I like the way the brick the intersection on the Main Street in town- makes it classy and really stands out. Quite a few famous people have lived there. Jimmy Hoffa had a summer home there and his son still lives there.
Lake Orion is definitely quite nice especially the downtown and the sights along the creek. Some of my family actually grew up in the area too. Thanks for watching!
I grew up on Shadbolt and Anderson,I sure do miss it, I remember we had to go to Pontiac for shopping for clothes and food, I used to cross the lake in winter to go visit friends on Belleville island, Lots of good memories and some not so much lol Thanks for sharing !
Hello, thanks for the video. I am now 69 years old. For the first 5 years of my life, I lived in Lake Orion. My father worked for Pontiac Motors in Pontiac, Mi. My mother passed away when I was 5, and my father moved us to North Carolina, where his family lived. We lived in a mobile home park. The address was 1540 Lapeer Rd. I remember that we lived up on the top of a hill, and we could look down at the lake. There was an island out in the lake. I have always wanted to go back to Michigan but have never been able to do so. Since I was so young, I don't remember much about where things were located or how to get to the location of our residence. I remember that Oxford was right up the road from where we lived. Also we drove to Rochester each Friday to do grocery shopping. I have not been to Michigan since 1956, but I have a lot of happy memories of my childhood there. I wonder if you would know what the location of that mobile home park looks like today. Or do you have any pictures of that locale. I enjoyed your video, and wonder if you could help me with above questions.
I know there is a mobile home park that is in between Lake Orion and Oxford, and I believe it is where my mother's ex-husband (before she married my father) lives. As he is my older sister's dad, I remember going in there a decade and a half ago with her. For what I could remember, the area did not look too bad. If you look on Google Maps, there is a side road called Moon Rd (right off Lapeer Rd or M-24 between Indian Lake Rd and Drahner Rd) which has Google Street View enabled to where you might be able to get a look of the front of the complex. Other than that, I don't have any other pictures. I wonder if that is the mobile home park you are referring to? If it is, it is really amazing to see that it has been around for that many years. Thanks for watching, and I'm glad you enjoyed the video!
Hey Scott you seemed to have been visiting man of places of interest of mine lately, grand rapids, orion, and marine city. Great work I can't praise you enough. Excellent knowledge of local histories you would be rivaled only by an elite class.
Thank you for the kind words! Before I film these videos, I always try to research ahead of time to find some cool facts and make sure that they are as accurate as possible. I've been getting better over the years.
