The 25-year-old graduate student's body was found in the Illinois River 10 days after his disappearance in Peru, Illinois.
The coroner in LaSalle County, Illinois, determined Jelani Day died by drowning. Jelani's mother says she believes there is more to his death than this report lets on.

I pray for the family this case is nonsensical.
The question is, who made him drown? Its not likely he killed himself.
Often , when there's a cover up by the police, they involve the coroner. Historically , when a black man mysteriously dies ( in a racist town ) & the police offers little to no help, they were involved.
Drowning? Then who drowned him? He didn't drown himself, it's nearly impossible. Human instinct wouldn't let you drown yourself.
I can attest to that . You would have to bind your hands and or way your body down otherwise instincts will take over and force you up for air.
You’re quite wrong….there are a lot of documented suicide by drowning cases. Are they atypical in terms of suicides, yes but they do happen. I’m not saying that Jelani drowned himself but that your blanket statement is incorrect.
@@thadlm2698 you need something to help. I mentioned weighing yourself and binding yourself but you could also take drugs and alcohol .
@@harrietyounger6118 I was actually commenting on the original comment made by Donna so I should have better articulated that. That being said and as I posted earlier, there are many documented cases of suicide by drowning that did not involve the victim weighing themselves down although that would make drowning yourself much easier I imagine.

I thought drowning was determined by finding water in the lungs. The press said that his organs were liquefied so how would they be able to tell?
His body was found 10 days later. No body liquifies in 10 days. It takes at least a month!
The lungs weren’t liquified , only the brain and spleen
@@jennoor3105 he had 3 autopsies. It was the second, 5 months after his death that showed the organs liquified.
@@Puglover130 ok that is helpful but even so if the other parts are liquefied how did they determine if water got in the lungs as a result of drowning or decomposition? I wish more was being done. Justice for jelani day.
@@harrietyounger6118 I don’t know but I’m starting to get concerned. Apparently several witnesses SAW Jelani (they didn’t know him but said it matched his description) drop/ throw the wallet.
Personally… I believe Jelani met with foul play, most likely that his granddaddy’s car which looked fancy, maybe someone thought he had $$$ and it was an attempted robbery gone wrong. I really don’t think even of depressed , he would have screwed his dads chance at life, and also he was SO close with his mom he either would’ve left her a note to find or would’ve sounded different on his last phone call with her.
And I’m not one of those who immediately jumps to foul play- personally I know David Robinson does not want to hear it , but I do believe deep inside that Daniel Robinson did not meet with foul play. I think he’s dead under some brush in the desert. Had some sort of mental break and made a series of unfortunate decisions.

The answer is in the clothes also. He doesn't dress like that, all of a sudden he switched clothes,..... he looked directly into that camera to show it was him, bc when he was walking in he had his head down not wanting to be seen, so why look at that camera? Someone was with him. Find out who that someone was? Think of people that are extra nice right now or very distant. He didn't kill himself. Prayers for the family

His organs were not removed, read the autopsy reports that are readily available online. Stop making up stuff to sensationalize this already tragic event.
