Alternative Technique for Prepping Hides 3: Dehairing

  • Most of my scraping projects involve removing the grain layer from the hide, but for bark tanning I am after the whole hide, grain layer too. This thick buck hide was a better candidate for bark tanning than brain tanning, so in this final video in my series of 3 about processing deer hides through the "sweating" process, I am pushing off the hair rather than truly scraping.

    I have a couple hides brain tanned already but the grain wasn't properly removed. What's the best way to get that off after the fact?
