    Awesome list! For me, the one indispensable item on the list has to be the Heroclip. I have a bunch of Heroclips in various sizes - but especially in Small and Medium. I have a Small Heroclip in the inside pocket of every coat to make it easy to hang my coat everywhere from a public restroom to the door of a wardrobe in a smaller hotel room. I've also use the Small Heroclip to hang a small daypack from the back of a beach chair, and to clip the same bag to a metal bar in an off-road vehicle to keep it from flying out! :-) The Medium Heroclip finds a place in every backpack and carryon that I use for both business and pleasure travel. The last thing I want to do is to set my backpack or briefcase on a dirty floor in a public restroom. This also makes it easier to access personal items like deodorant and a toothbrush when freshening up in that same public restroom. I also find it a little easier to attached my water bottle to the Medium Heroclip and a handle on my pack to keep it from popping out and rolling around. I definitely recommend picking up Heroclips - but get one or two extras for when your friends ask, "What is THAT?"

    I love the small but mighty Tom Bihn Ghost Whale Pouch 4:23 . I love having my smaller need items (flashlight, micro SD, AirPods, etc.) inside of one of these that I can easily transfer from pouch to backpack to sling without Especially if you are a gear swapper like me these are a must. Not to mention, if you have other Tom Bihn gear the clip systems are amazing to use ✌️

    I love the Aer Travel Pack 3. I have been looking into getting one for when I plan to go on my first solo trip to a different country. I want to use it as a carry-on so I don’t have to worry about keeping it in the luggage hold on the plane. Also, try and pack things minimally! It would also be useful for when I go on work domestic trips which have been common recently. The current bag I use is very uncomfortable and not built for luggage.
    A feature of this bag that I like is that it has a separate laptop compartment with pockets where I can take out easy-access accessories.
    I have an Aer Duffle Pack and the straps have been comfortable when commuting with a heavy load.

    I'm also going to say my favorite on this list is the Roost laptop stand. I was a kickstarter backer for v.1 of this stand, and I have been promoting it, gifting it, and using it pretty much non-stop since that day. Since I am a digital nomad, and work on my laptop every day, this is probably my favorite piece of digital nomad travel gear. (After that, I'd probably pick the Aer Day Sling, although I personally prefer the Bellroy Venture slings.)

    The Twelve South AirFly Pro is my favorite choice as it has been the biggest conversation piece on my travels.
    Using it heavily on planes and hotel rooms to connect to the TVs and play on either my Airpods Pro or my Sony WH1000XM3 Bluetooth. To avoid the AC noise and to avoid disturbing the neighbors. Quick connection and efficient setup.

    Solid list. The editing for the clothes portion was really cool.
    After searching for the unicorn travel shoe I found Saola who does a waterproof lifestyle sneaker in the Cannon model. I think they do several iterations of that shoe so you have to look for the waterproof version. Good traction, foam midsole, vegan leather and 100% waterproof. Used it as my one shoe to Portland OR in the winter and it was perfect. Nice enough to dress up and casual enough to dress down. Only thing I’ll say is you 100% should size up a half size but they send out your exchanges super quick.

    The one thing you don’t talk about enough is security with the products. One should not put their cash and credit cards in the same billfold. Separate your money and credit cards in different pockets or places. Doesn’t hurt to keep a fake wallet either in case you have to give one up. Other things to consider as well but I never put all my important items in the same place on me or my carry bags.

    I bought the Roost V3 Laptop Stand because of the previous version of the packing list.
    Initially I just wanted a good laptop stand, but now it won’t leave my bag, I use it at home, at work, while traveling.

    Big fan of the Matador On-Grid Packable Backpack. It's unstructured but my use cases have been when traveling with the fam (2 young kids) and we overpack the stroller or the other stuff... boom you have a place to put all that extra stuff. It's pretty durable and inexpensive enough that I feel somewhat comfortable just letting it get tossed around.

    I love the Matador flatpak soap case, I discovered it a few years ago and LOVE how much smaller it makes carrying a bar of soap compared to typical hardshell soap cases (which are more prone to leaking anyway).
    Although I would suggest the Philips One by Sonicare over the Quip toothbrush. It's almost identical in size but is significantly stronger in vibration. I used the Quip for about a year before trying the One and the difference in strength was immediately noticeable when I turned it on.

  • @Krislord17
    @Krislord17 ปีที่แล้ว

    I have the exact AER slim tech pouch and it’s probably the best tech pouch out there for the price. It’s definitely the most underrated piece of carry from AER.
    It lives in my office work pack, fits all my tech perfectly. It’s my go to recommendation if anyone asks for a tech pouch.
    Also the roost stand is worth the money. I have had cheaper ones from Amazon before, but the roost stands is the best out of the lot, by far

    Owning plenty of items from that very handy list, its really hard to choose one. So let me start with 2 honorable mentions:
    Peak Design packing cubes.Finally i do not have chaos inside my carry on backpack.
    Matador On-Grid Packable Backpack. Survived changeable English weather at music festival during last summer. Served well during day trips too.
    But my most favourite item is Rolling Square’s inCharge X cable. Using both short and 1.5 m versions.

    I'm contemplating getting a super bagel.

    Honestly, the peak design packing cubes are a game changer. I’ve never used packing cubes before, so after watching your videos on them, I decided to purchase 3 small cubes for my 10 day trip to Florida last December. I used 1 cube for one pair of pants and three long sleeve shirts. The second cube I packed 6 t shirts and 5 pairs of shorts and the third cube had 6 pairs of socks and 6 pairs of boxers. I could have fit more clothes in them, but I had a washer and dryer at my Airbnb. I can’t recommend these packing cubes enough.

    I remain in the Windows world. I used to get paid to develop programs for Windows and not for Mac OS. My laptop has a keyboard that flips over, so a stand that relies upon the hinge to the screen would not work. My Windows 10 tablet has a separate keyboard. There is a matching keyboard but I can use any other. The tablet is smaller, lighter, with smaller power supply but the laptop has a touch pad. Both work with the same active pens. For the 8" screen I needed a docking station for the ports but not for the laptop. So kit either out ended up the same weight and volume but packed differently.
    From my hotel room I was able to login to my computer back home, transfer the photographs and video clips to it for back up, editing and posting a blog online.

    Love the sling life and almost went with the Day Sling, but decided on the Travel Sling 2 for its larger size to carry my digital kit all together as a daily driver. Carries my MacBook Pro, Roost Stand, Logitech keyboard, mouse and all the cables in a really organized way with room to spare to change it up depending on the day.
    Need to give the Super Bagel and inCharge cable a try soon. Looks way easier to pack up compared to the Anker power extender which gets relegated to the bigger bag if it travels.

From European airports this differs between 7 to 8 kg. I could only manage the weight by limiting my tech equiment, using a superlight 1,100 kg laptop and a 700 g backpack. I assume the weight of all your equipment must be over 9 kg. Is there a special trick that I missed? 🙂

I have already added several of the items selected for the Digital Nomad Packing List. The top two items are the MOGICS Bagel and the Anker 737 120W GaN Charger. These two have replaced larger devices while still providing more functionality than I had before using them..

    Could you find a solar power station or I guess a mini solar generator that can power stuff like an electric kettle that boils water and/or a c-pap machine, but is smaller that a solar generator and still more power than those solar bricks that just run stuff like your phone? Ideal size would be about the size of a toiletries bag. Ideally light enough to fit in your backpack and you can hang the solar panels on the backpack while you're walking around. Or you can daisy chain a few panels you could spread out on a bike trailer...

      You're definitely not alone with the first aid kit. : - ) Tour guide Sarah Murdoch calls her expanded version a Box of Awesome, and has great ideas for things to include. Advil, a strip of moleskin, or some powdered ginger capsules for motion sickness can transform misery to adventure, and a single Benadryl can literally save a life.

    Not entirely sure why would you choose the Magic Mouse with its awful charging port, over a Magic Trackpad if given the choice. Slimmer and better flow for work imo. Not a macbook person but I had to use one for work for about 3 years, and I can't complain about their trackpads. For a seamles Windows/Mac experience I would go with Logi's MX Mechanical Mini and MX Anywhere 3. For extra ergo I would go for Targus Ergo keyboard, and either the magic trackpad if mac or the mx anywhere or mx master if pc.

    Thank you for the constant upgrading of your list however, I have one major concern: WEIGHT. As a frequent traveler in Europe, I suspect you are well over the combined weight of the backpack + personal item for many carriers. As a AER SF product owner, these great bags are not light and eat into your available weight for content. Please possibly group your products (laptop, keyboard, cables, , pants, shirts, etc.) so we can see where the packed bag weight is coming from. I replaced my MacBook Pro 16 as it was quite heavy relative to other travel laptops (i.e. Surface Laptop).

    I really want to know if there is a bigger backpack so that you can pack for the whole family! I will be travelling to Japan for 15 days in a month and I really want to pack light for the whole family. I have 3 small children which means we will have to bring two strollers with us so it is important to find a bigger size backpack in order to fit clothes for me, my wife and the 3 kids. Is there something on the market for this situation?

    • @liorajacob8094
      @liorajacob8094 ปีที่แล้ว

      That doesn't sound feasible, even if the children's clothes take up less space. Don't forget you are each allowed a carry-on, so maybe max carry-ons (40-45L size) for you and your partner and a smaller knapsack/duffle for each child that will fit under the strollers? Check out Osprey Farpoint 55 for men/Fairview 55 for women, newly designed to be carry-on compliant, include a daypack that attaches at the front or back, and currently $240 which is better than other max carry-ons (Matador 45 and Patagonia MLC both $350, Tom Bihn Techonaut 45 over $400). Of course you could always go the rolling carryon route if that's easier, but you might prefer to be hands- free. Enjoy your trip!

    • @solidsn2011
      @solidsn2011 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@liorajacob8094 thanks for your answer! The thing is my children are whining a lot when they have heavy backpacks so I can’t really count on them carrying anything apart from a small one with their toys inside. My wife also suffers from back pain so she wants to get a normal suitcase with wheels, that’s why I was thinking of packing most of the stuff in my backpack and leaving her with a light suitcase. I’ll need to prepare well for this (I know it will be tough 😂).

    • @liorajacob8094
      @liorajacob8094 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@solidsn2011 oh, I never thought your kids would carry their own stuff ;) I thought you could put a couple of carry-on duffels or totes in the baskets underneath the strollers, which I assume you will have until you board the plane. The kids could probably still bring their little toy knapsacks as personal items. And nothing wrong with a solid rolling carry-on, I love my old Samsonite which I still use for overseas trips that are for visiting family rather than touring vacations.
