Ross Konikoff ....now I was going to comment about your great playing up there... Aw, what the heck... Ross Konikoff killing it on the first trumpet solo!
Holy s##t! What a band! Dave Stahl is ridiculous! I heard a story from a trombone player one time sitting in front of him. He said his articulation was so good it was like a clinic!
Ross Konikoff, Dave Stahl, Dean Pratt, Larry Moses trumpets, Clint Sharman, Rick Stepton, Rick Trager, trombones, Steve Marcus, Bill Blount, Alan Gauvin, Bob Mintzer, Turk Mauro, saxes, Jon Burr bass, Barry Keiner piano. A lucky congregation where everyone had the same idea, to play our asses off every goddamned night!
Buddy had fine fine fine musicians always. He demanded perfection. Rightfully So. The man was THE MASTER DRUMMER and if you played in that Buddy Rich Band you were expected to give one hundred per cent every time.
the closest you'll find is the killer force reunion that was recorded in Lebanon PA. Same trumpet line anyway, but they ere all killer force at some point!
Just about the best trumpet section I've ever heard...as stated by someone on earlier post there nods to be a full concert released with this group...maybe Cloudview might have it...?

Wow, great band, and what a deep trumpet section! What year was this? And did you catch Dave Stahl's "G" above "Double C" at the end of his solo on Preach and Teach?
Why can't there be music programs like this on the air anymore with actual musicians? I wonder just how disgusted the lot of the would be looking at the current scene
Holy shit!! What a band!!!!!!

Dave only played on this band so he didn't have to wear a tie... 😂😂😂
Agreed on Stahl!

OMG an ad in the middle of the trumpet wank? Agggghhhhhhhhhhh!!!!
Who's the guy trying to lead the band at the end?
Dom Deluise, comedian and actor. There is a Wikipedia article about him if you are interested.
As fabulous as these musicians are, this version of big band funk is the musical equivalent of dad dancing.
what year?
George Kilroy I’m pretty sure ‘74
1977
My guess is summer/fall 1976. But could be late '76 very early 77. In April, 1977 he was already promoting "Buddy Rich Plays and Plays.....LP.
What is the year of this performance?
jazzsnare ‘76
